The Italian Grill, Sarasota FL

I got there soon after the place opened and was met at the door by a gentleman named Bruno. Bruno sat me at the bar, and I ordered some lasagna for lunch. I’m not sure which was better, the amazing lasagna or Bruno‘s company. If you’re looking for a place with good Italian food, and where they make you feel like family, this is the place.

Food is given in great portions but the dishes leave something to be desired. Maybe adding some veggies to the dishes? All I had there was bread, pasta, and meat. Alfredo spice is devine though!

Great place to eat. My pizza was a little burnt.new review.food was great. My shrimp scamie was great. Dessert was great.

Excellent selection. Haven't had this great of fettuccine Alfredo since I came south 18 years ago!

Nice atmosphere. Clean. The house dressing is homemade and delicious. Chick parm was thick and juicy; a nice size portion. Breading didn't fall apart. Pasta al dente. Plated nicely.

Changed hands last year and one of the chefs quit, taking the awesome, not overly garlicky, delicious sauce with them.

When greedflation took over, you guessed it: portion size got smaller. The pics depict pre-greedflation. Pasta, sauce, and of course cheese portions were noticeably smaller. Really guys?

Haven't returned. We don't like the new sauce and chicken Parm is all we eat. So, no point.not with all the choices nearby.

So we moved down here from Boston and having a hard time finding good pizza… well look no more. Good ole’ fashion wood fired pizza. Plus the veal is second to none. I don’t generally leave reviews but this place is a jewel.
(Oh and the Italian wedding soup is a must)

Absolutely the best pizza in Sarasota, maybe even the whole state. My wife had the linguine with white clam sauce, she declared that she'll never make it herself again because the Italian Grills was outstanding! Our server Ralph was outstanding.

First visit - food was good, service was extremely slow. Managers circulated through the tables, checking on diners and socializing, both of them completely skipped our table but visited all the tables around us. Between the slowness, lack of quality service and simply not caring, we will not be returning. The food isn’t worth the annoyance. Hopefully, they can turnaround their service.

And bland. Finally tried this place after four years seeing it and won't go back.

The Italian Grill is a cozy, laid-back spot dishing up delicious, classic Italian flavors. The pizzas are fantastic - crispy crusts with flavorful toppings. The pasta dishes are rich and comforting, and the service is friendly. A great place for a relaxed, tasty Italian meal in FL

For our starters we had the white mussels and Mama meatballs. For dinner the Shrimp Scampi as well as the Chicken Milanese with Italian wedding soup, everything was delicious. We will be back to try the pizza very soon!

Tried to call and place an order for carry out, but the phone just instantly disconnected the call twice. I'm not downloading an app to order food under any circumstances but that appears to be the sole ridiculous option for carry out here.

Update: on top of the issues below, even though I left well over 20% for a tip, Italian grill added a few dollars on my bill! BEWARE

the food was acceptable, not great or excellent, but NO HAPPY HOUR.and $18 for a glass of chianti! Yikes! Our group will not be going back, unfortunately.

It's a good spot. The bartender was cool. Seems like a great local hangout. Would recommend!

We had a wonderful experience! Our server Tina was fantastic, food was amazing…. Will definitely be back next time we are in town!

I had a amazing Birthday dinner here tonight. It was amazing and a shout out to Will for being a great server's. The manager was on the floor making sure all of the guests were enjoying everything. I honestly can't remember the last time I seen a manager making sure everything was Perfect! She was very polite and hardworking.
I would definitely recommend The Italian Grill!

Delightful place for a nice meal, service was good, portions are more than enough. Every table that order seemed to get something different. I look forward to more meals.

Folks - I'd say this is a hidden gem if you're a pizza lover looking for excellent pizza in South Sarasota. The guy there has been making pizzas for over a decade and a half and does not disappoint. Our bar tender, (Chelsea?), was an absolute pleasure. Wonderful at her job, incredibly cheerful, and generally fantastic. Highly recommend this place - pizza is the only thing we tried. It's unassuming, but the pies were memorable. Dave Portnoy come on down!

So happy with our dinner experience! Walked in on a rainy Wednesday for dinner as family of six. Our daughter was turning 6, and we were in a pinch. I brought our homemade birthday cake because I knew we would be back too late to cut it at home. I reluctantly brought the cake into the restaurant just so it didn’t melt in the car, and was expecting trouble for bringing it inside. To my amazement manager Marta welcomed us with open arms and offered to store it in the fridge for us! I was astounded at the service. Food was so yummy, meatball appetizer and gnocchi were really tasty. Each dish had a special upscale twist that you don’t find at most Italian places nowadays. Service was very attentive and friendly. Dining room has had an elegant upgrade since we dined in 2020. So happy. We will be back!

Food was amazing! The manager and our server were phenomenal! Will be back for sure! Don’t skip on this place!
