Mr. Burns helped me out exactly like he said he would. I have never been in trouble and I had a public defender. Well we all know how well a public defender helps. I hired Mr. Burns and was so thankful I did. This man knows his business. I recommend him 100%.

Mr. Burns and his staff were very informative, respectful, and helpful in my case. He was also affordable and allowed us to make payments according to our needs. I would absolutely and highly recommend this law office! Margaret was wonderful and treated me with kindness, her honesty and transparency with the case was refreshing.

There was a point in my marriage where things took a turn for the worst. I had turned to alcohol to wash away my pain and ended up getting into a physical fight with my husband one night while on vacation and was arrested for domestic violence.

Mr. Burns made sure that this was completely dismissed, was extremely helpful and communicated with me often. He also made sure I didn't have to travel back to Florida for anything and was able to take care of everything via phone and email.

Good people make mistakes, and Mr. Burns was there to defend me, he never once made me feel like a "criminal, " but instead, a human being who needed help.

Here's my experience. I had a paternity case with Mr. Burn's office.

CONS:
-Approximately 1 out of 15 phone calls returned.
-Was hung up on by secretary at least 3 times after spending thousands of dollars
-I had to find out when my court date was
-During mediation law office wasn't prepared, didn't even know what county my case was in or what judge was presiding over it
-I was promised 50/50 custody. I got 2/14 days
-During my mediation for custody lawyer and secretary were high fiving about the biggest settlement case they've ever reached
-I would've done better representing myself. Guaranteed. Lesson learned the hard way
-If you have the willpower and the want to do research, do the work yourself. You'll get better results

PROS:
-I think at heart they're good people but overworked and prefer money over providing quality and consistency with statements/promises made to clients (second half of the sentence qualifies as a con.)

Honestly I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this attorney and the staff are way too overwhelmed with their clientele. Many things were never filed that should have been, and he even stated he would represent me and then withdraw (with no reasoning just emailed me that is his plan) and then withdrew the minute court began, leaving me without representation. He never calls back, and honestly did not know anything but basics about my case. What he told me when I originally did a consult it very much different than what he did. No matter his excuse for the poor care he gave me, I highly recommend finding another attorney that will actually view your case as an individual rather than another number or paycheck.

I would stay far far away from this guy. His reviews have to be purchased. He represented me for a family law case a few years back and honestly cant believe he is still in business.

Mr. James has successfully closed multiple cases for me, always doing it in a timely organized personal manner. Along with giving me the best resolution possible to my divorce back in 2020. Highly suggest Mr. Burns if you want the best results for your case!

I wouldn’t recommend. He and Debbie (his assistant who you would think is the lawyer) are friendly and nice for consultations but once you pay them they avoid you, they’re very rude, and they don’t prepare for your case. Do not sign the contract if it says non refundable because they will refuse to give you your money back. He represented me for my final hearing of my family law case and refused to properly prep me and my witnesses for trial. Debbie constantly scheduled me for meetings with Mr. Burns but when I would show up she would tell me I wasn’t on the schedule or that Mr. Burns wasn’t in and ask me to come back later. I’ve been his client since April 2022 and he new nothing about my case on 12/08/2022. He was referring to my daughter as a little boy during our trial. I gave him a copious amount of evidence in a binder that he refused to admit in court because as he stated, “I don’t want to admit evidence one by one”. I even made 3 copies because they were constantly missing deadlines. The day Debbie told me to drop the binder off she wasn’t in office, they turned everything in the day before my hearing. Mr. Burns rushed through the hearing because he was ready for lunch. When the judge told him to take time to talk to his client during the trial he would leave the office and go to Debbie and ignore me as his client. He never acknowledged me as a client always addressed Debbie and she lies a whole lot, you would think she really is the lawyer. They didn’t file any motions to help prepare for my hearing or go over the evidence I provided. They Submitted documents passed the deadline. Every time it was time for my hearing someone was sick and he was requesting a continuance yet he was on vacation all summer. I witnessed two other clients walk in complaining about the same things I am complaining about now on this post. I also have another one of his clients information in my trial binder because he was working on their case as if it was mine and isn’t. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Florida Bar. Find another lawyer if you are fighting for your child, this one will not have you or your child’s best interest.

The staff was very eager to help answer our questions and even Mr. Burns welcomed us into his office without an appt! He looked up info and made phone calls right there on the spot! Mr Burns is our new family attorney for any needs we have in the future.it even gets better yall he practices law in Florida and Alabama! Due to His longevity and honesty in the area he has a huge network.
