The Plaza Live reviews
17 Five years now. Grimmie died signing autographs, because she had no security near her. Even though she performed there.
I keep reading review after review, that says you lack of professional security continues to be a problem.
Been to several concerts with no problems. Had tickets to B. Culbertson show that was canceled twice. Unable to get a refund for 2 tickets. Several emails and constantly called and visited box office. Still have tickets. Never again.
Purchased tickets last year through axs. Covid-19 hit. Moved concert to next year. Tried to sell tickets and this they made impossible. Tried to call by phone and no answer! Don't buy through axs and if you have problems The plaza live will not answer the phone. I feel they stuck it to me
Went to see Pepper. The venue was clean, concrete sloped floor to the stage. Some balcony seating. Not very big, but perfect for lesser named shows. Great sound and lighting. Small stands to buy drinks inside as well as bars in the lobby. Was impressed with the speed of getting in, even though you have to show id and get your arm stamped and hoo through metal detectors. Very professional and friendly staff. Was a great experience.
I will try to clarify the mixed reviews. Yes, the drinks are priced like Disney. Wait in a 1 staff line & get a bottled water for $4. I don't drink, so can't price the alcohol.
The concert area is a concrete floor, sloping down, a traditional 1960's theatre design, so yes, every seat has a view (unless you are 5'2" & the guy in front of you is over 6' - I know from experience). The seats are very poorly marked (look for chalk mark scrawled numbers on the raised seat bottoms), so sometimes the ushers are very busy helping folks find their seats. The central air is inadequate, so sometimes it's hot & steamy, and other times it's cool. Prepare for both.
The seats are their downfall, and if you get a chattier employee, they will tell you part of the reason. First, some concerts have seats & some are SRO. You might want to ask in advance which yours is. I'm disabled, so that would be a deal breaker for me. Standing on a sloping concrete floor for hours? I'd be toast. But permanent seats are impossible because they have to remove them for certain shows.
What are the seats like? They are sturdy (I have seen them hold 400+ lb concertgoers without a creak) & have a medium padding, but that's it for the plus side. They are also attached edge to edge with other seats, and open at the lower back, with little foot room, hip room, shoulder room. The staff is primarily young, so that must account for some of their lack of concern. The open backs provide no lumbar support, so I find myself squirming & fidgeting to ease my back pain. I have yet to attend a concert where I didn't become intimately familiar with my neighbors' hips & shoulders.to the point that I could feel the music tempo to which they're moving. Seriously! And I am not huge. I am an average middle aged woman, again, 5'2", and I have to sit with my body canted diagonally, my arm behind my former linebacker husband, just so he can fit, also sitting diagonally, one leg in the aisle, balancing part of his 6'+ frame throughout the show. It's crazy! (Think of a plane seat.) But I give you these details so you can understand the mixed reviews. If you're a skinny young staffer type, you won't understand the complaints. If you're a normal sized over-40 patron, you will want to know these things.
I saw quite a few people using canes at the last show. I hope they did better than I. During the concert I balanced my purse & bottled water in my lap*, and held my cane upright between my knees. Several times, though, with the fidgeting, my cane fell down & hit the stranger beside me? Thankfully, he understood.
If the shows weren't so good, I wouldn't even go back. As it is, my husband & I both require taking in advance a Vicodin & a muscle relaxer to take the edge off the pain caused by these seats during the concert (though the pain does break through). We hurt through the next day, too.
*Remember, the floor is sloped concrete. Don't put your drink or purse on the floor. If you move in the tight leg area, or someone tries to walk past you to a middle seat, there likely will be a spill. And if someone behind you has a spill, it WILL roll downhill.like a beer did last concert.
Say Robert Cray Band, awesome performance. The venue was great regarding acoustics, sound system, easy parking, access, lobby, bars. A little slice of old Orlando. My new favorite venue
This is a great venue for live music. The acoustics are good and it is fairly small and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. We saw Jesse Cook and band there tonight and they were amazing.
This is a smaller plaza than some of the other concert venues I've been to. Not really a good or a bad thing in itself, however it did seem more prone to get hot. With that in mind, a small venue gives a more personal experience with whatever artist you are seeing, so I'd say it evens out. I do recommend you bring a fan or something to stay cool.
Not a bad seat in the place, acoustics were excellent, staff friendly and helpful, they get really good bands also. Orlando needed a place like the Plaza Live.
We saw Pepper here amazing show. Acoustics are good. The club is clean and well set up. Parking was close and free. I would definitely come back to The plaza live
One of the best live venues in Orlando they get all types of shows there I've never had a bad time. So close to good stuff in the Milk District too. Eat at Pom Poms. Pregame at sportstown or whiskey lou's
Great venue for live music. Only reason for 4 stars is for the seats. Very pricey for padded folding chairs.other than that this place is great. It doesn't matter what seat you have you still have a great view of the stage.
I have been here twice and hate it. The venue is so run down. Every other or so seats marked with numbers. Sounds system is inadequate. Great for a rock band most pit. Just gross. I only come when it's an event I can't miss.
Gave it a four star because the entertainment was awesome. Gaelic Storm has been coming to the Plaza for 10 years. The show was great. But the seats are quite tight and a lot of people had difficulty finding their rows and seat numbers.
Granted the Plaza is one of the oldest venues in Orlando. Constructed in 1963 it was the area's first 2-screen movie theater. In the 90's it was converted into a live performance venue.
The view of the stage is unobstructed so doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. The venue is available for rental besides the scheduled concerts and entertainment.
The concert was wonderful. We saw Jesse Cook with his talented other musicians.
There seems to be a lack of communication with the ticket booth and other people involved.
The seats are extremely close together. Padded folding chairs that are positioned on the floor touching each other. They needed more help behind the bar. A very long line 20 people waiting, some just wanting a bottle of water like us.
I come here for Gaelic storm. Every year I enjoy myself and never disappointed. The venue is always clean, staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is tight but if you arnt there early are you really a fan of whom you are going to see lol.
Jesse Cook concert was great but venue could have been better. Seats are folding chairs bolted together, very close together. Bathrooms crowded and paper towel dispenser did not work. No water fountain and you need to wait in the bar line to buy expensive bottled water. This place needs an upgrade.
