The Sugar Shak reviews
19Cool place. Delicious candy! Delicious ice cream! All available a few steps from the beach. A definite win for me. ️
Walked up at 9: 58 and was told they were closed. Luckily my wife walked in a few minutes before after I dropped her off to find a parking spot so she made it in. Was told I couldn’t wait inside while she ordered. They closed up some of the tubs while she was ordering and she could only get 1 flavor. Go somewhere else for ice cream, there’s plenty of options with people who actually want your business in the prime time summer months.
I’m a candy fiend.dangerously so.was excited as i walked in to try some ice cream and maybe get a few unusual candies.was standing at the counter for 8 minutes and no staff offered to help.walked out.
They have a great selection of sweets and have most of anything that you would want. The line itself was very long and the store felt very crowded while we were waiting to get food. However that in itself was not what really brought the rating of this review down for me.
What really brought this review down for me was the customer service, specifically the employee at the register. As we went up to the register the employee was on her phone texting and held up her finger to signify that she would be with us in a second. Following a few moments she proceeded to ring up our order and before we had enough time to even collect our credit card from the card reader much less the ice cream and sweets from the counter she had already called the next customer in line. This felt very rude to me as I normally don't like people who I have never met being directly over the food I had just purchased at the register.
Disappointed in the overall experience.
Love this place! All the candy you can think of, great customer service, friendly (and funny) staff whom always have smiles on their faces, and the owners are some of the most down-to-earth people I have ever encountered! Wish I could give a higher star rating!
I had such a lovely experience at The Sugar Shak. The staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient. The young lady who made my delicious ice cream concoction commented that it sounded good and she'd have to make herself one too and then she made me the cutest and most delicious sundae. Really appreciate how sincere and polite the staff was. The ice cream was super delish and we will definitely be coming back!
Visited the shop and it was lovely. However I ordered a tshirt online in April for my son (since he has outgrown the first one I purchased him). Received a message stating would receive shirt in 5-7 business days. Now it’s April 18th. The shirt was about 50.00 which was immediately taken out of my bank account. No one will return my calls, haven’t been able to communicate with anyone.
This is an amazing place to go for some ice cream and candy! They are very helpful and nice! We had ice cream 3 nights in a row and the best thing is they are open late! Thanks for making our vacation so much better! You ladies rock! ️
Stunningly poor service and mediocre ice cream. Staff were painfully transparent about their disdain for their jobs and their customers. They engaged myself and others in the long line with a cold, blank stare, and terse responses. One family ahead of me was hoping there was enough for one more scoop of peanut butter chocolate ice cream, and met with a stone cold "no, " without apology, explanation, or invitation to try a different flavor. This was a microcosm of their attitudes toward all customers. My daughter's malt was not particularly creamy, with a somewhat gritty texture (not blended well enough?), and average flavor-not bad, but not good, and definitely not worth $10.50. We have very good ice cream in my hometown, but this was some of the most mediocre ice cream I have encountered anywhere. And their candy is absurdly overpriced, including a package of jumbo gummy bears that should cost $2-3 that was priced $25.
With long lines and lots of activity, there is a bandwagon assumption any busy business must be good at what they do. This business is a clear exception to that rule. They are busy because they are located on Main street, in a prime location, with no significant adjacent competition, catering to affluent traveling families on vacation.
Buyer beware, find another option for sweet treat.
Superman ice cream!
Very colorful and unique flavor.
I got the cup because I was driving, but there are regular & waffle cones.
Besides ice cream, there are lots of different candies, some rarer than others.
A new favorite place of mine.
This is more about the experience. Don't buy your candy and sweets there. Go down the street to Seagrove
Candy candy and more candy. All the nostalgia candy ie Moon Pies, Nekko's, and Charleston Chews brought back alot of childhood memories, and all the new candies for my children.
It's a cool place just very tiny! It was so packed when we were there and you couldn't tell who was in line and who was just shopping.
Best A/C in the whole area. The ice cream and candy is awesome as well. 10/10 would sweat and cool off here again!
I have always loved buying stuff here. But yesterday night when I opened the door two staff members were there arguing and one of them shockingly shouted at me angry. "We're close!? " The other one apologized to me, but oh my god I feel like I never wanna go bk there. I usually go there during and after work but I guess I was a little late that night. She messed up the good night I was having
Excellent candy selection however the ice cream is just simply generic ice cream unlike can be placed across the street which has more artisan ice cream
The line takes forever and the place feels crowded like a super spreader event
Try the piruletas.
Supply chain diversity is a problem (white only) nonetheless and that is why they only get 4 stars.
Discovered this place several years ago when traveling 30A. It is the perfect place to stop with your children for a treat and to make a sweet memories. They also have affordable prices for children to buy individual candy with their own allowance money. I love that, and all of us look forward to going there every year! Located in beautifully designed Rosemary Beach, I highly recommend this unique, welcoming and well loved ice cream shop to all ages.
Terrible Service, Stale Candy, and Super Cramped
I went in to purchase candy with a small group of friends, and one of my friends was told that they crushed a piece of candy that they clearly didn’t and was forced to buy candy that they didn’t damage or want. The staff was quite rude and aggressive, and we will never be back. Spend your money elsewhere and enjoy your time at the beach where the company attempts to care about their customers.
We love the Sugar Shack! Every trip to 30A we make this a family event everyone walks to SS for Ice Cream and candies.
