This is a terrible place to live, two years living there and so many things to mention about it: their policies always affect the renters, very dirty place no care at all for the social areas beside the pool.

The managment team are very helpful, responsive, and courteous. This community is a beautiful and very convenient place to live. We love all of the amenities, and updated design inside the units. They are currently painting the exterior of the buildings and making sure everything feels refreshed and more modern which is so appreciated.
Upon move in we had several maintenance requests and they have been very responsive / helpful in resolving them. The neighbors here are very nice and the grounds are kept in great condition.

Lived here for six months AC broke twice, the heater will burn the apartment down, I have roaches for roommates, there's no parking space ofter 10 pm so good luck and they will toe your car. The gate are always broken and the patio door can't really close. Don't even waste your time going to the office cause they already know and they don't care worse place I have ever lived. Zero stars!

DO NOT MOVE HERE! IT IS DISGUSTING, RUN DOWN, MAINTENANCE PEOPLE ARE RUDE AND LAZY AS HECK! BATHROOMS SMELL LIKE RESTROOMS IN GAS STATIONS, NO MATTER THE AMOUNT OF COLROX I USE IT STILL SMELLS! I MADE TERRIBLE MISTAKE MOVING HERE, LEAVING THIS DIRT HOLE ASAP!

As this is my first place renting, I have had nothing but a great experience living here. The general manager, Jeniffer, has been nothing but exceptional. She helps me with anything I need and cares about the tenants needs. She is truly great at her job and goes above and beyond. I have been living here for over a year now and I love how remodeled the units are, parking is unassigned which is great, the neighbors are friendly, and the amenities are really nice! I would recommend living here.

I have been living here for a very long time and watched the Upton go from a fabulous place to live to a disastrous place to live. It would take me days to describe my negative experiences here. Many factors made this happen, management, office employees and maintenance workers. But now I feel there is hope. The manager Jeniffer Flores is fabulous. She’s smart, kind and really works with you to fulfill your requests. We haven’t had a manager like this here in years. She follows through with all your needs immediately. Toby an office employee is so responsive to anything you ask him. He goes out of his way to help at any cost. The maintenance employees are okay. The supervisor and Manny have been excellent to us. Thank God they are finally hiring qualified oeople to work here.

The people in charge of the leasing office simply need to take an urgent hospitality course, if she is the first filter or the first impression of "The Upton Apartments" is wrong. Do not waste your time, the information that is on the website does not agree with that of the office, a lot of lack of organization.

Do NOT waste your time or money. This apartment complex is a scam. They lure you in with amenities and beautiful models apartments but when you sign the lease you are literally signing over months/years of hell. Jeniffer Flores (leasing office manager) does not answer phone calls while she sits in her office. Toby, one of the leasing agents, sits at his desk looking busy while he continues to assure you there is nothing he can ever do about any of your simplest issues you have with your living experience. Elena, who is another leasing agent, is just a bitter woman with no patience or information. This is by far the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. Please do not spend the money and if you decide to consider it anyways after reading this review, TRUST ME, you will be sorry.

Unprofessional staff, except for Toby. The staff acts as if they are middle schoolers that never grew up. They’ll memorize your number and decline your calls. Irritating and spiteful people.

My Mother and I literally moved out of this dump apartment complex because the lazy office workers don’t do their jobs, it’s the one’s that are in charge that’s destroyed this place. Every time my mother puts in a work order they either put it on completion without anyone coming to fix the issue or they take 4-6 weeks to come. My friend warned me to not let my mother live here because someone broke into her car and stole her stuffs a few years back. She said that the workers in the office will sabotage the tenants by making them feel uncomfortable so they can break their lease and move out so they can refer their own people to live in the complex. Nobody in the office seems to care, we even went and speak to the Regional Manager Michelle Bravo and she did not get back to us. I can’t believe that these are the people Maxx Properties hire to operate their business. Upton has definitely fallen, 12 years ago this place was immaculate but now the people that work in the office has destroyed the reputation of this place. Never will I come back.

I want to thank everyone for this honest review. We are planning on relocating to Florida. Definitely appreciate the reviews and will make sure to share these reviews about The Upton Apartments. Mold is truly unacceptable!

Do not move here! Worst customer service & terrible sanitation! They show you the nice model apartments which is the only building they try to maintain clean to get you to sign your lease. Once you sign do not expect the same service from office employees you got before you signed!

There’s a worker in the office by the name of Frantzy St Fluer, he was very disrespectful to my entire family. I have recordings on his behavior. They need to make changes, only Toby has great customer service. Save your money!

Do not stay here! Every review that you’re reading is TRUE. Mold? True. (My friends actually had to move out in the middle of the semester) Roaches? TRUE! I wouldn’t save infested but randomly they just started popping up and we had to call pest control to come twice. Our fridge has been broke for months. We’ve tried to get maintenance to come but there is a new maintenance man every other month so by the time it gets to them it’s like they are starting over. SMH so we just said forget it. There is NO bowling alley. The jacuzzi is not hot ‍️ There is no net or anything available to get stuff out to of the pool. I’m just sick of it. Anyways; this is really what took it over the edge for me. At night most of the parking spots are gone. So where I stay people will usually park near the curve under the light. (It’s not like anyone will hit your car, trust) I walked out one morning and there was a towing sticker on my car! (Dude I live here). I went to the office, ask why was this sticker on my car and told her the reason for me parking there. I’m not from FL and honestly I don’t trust walking out here alone. Please tell me why this lady said “Well your safety is on you! “ like are you serious? Now what if somebody kidnapped me but I guess where my car is park is what matters the most (trust everyone does this as well)
That was it for me. Normally we recommend living here because it’s close to our school Barry University but after our friends experience and now ours.move somewhere else!

Ended up having to pay to break my lease because my building (#13) along many others was severely contaminated with hazardous black mold that the management company refused to acknowledge or release us from the lease due to safety and health concerns. See attached proof from the “Disaster Response” vehicles that were in the complex going building to building for weeks. It was not just our building. This was not a sudden issue, the cause was due to leaks in the roof that began after a hurricane from 2018. Management knew for years of neighbors complaining and chose to do nothing until it was a serious health issue.

Terrible experience with unprofessional and unresponsive customer service from the office staff all the way to Michelle Bravo at the New York headquarters. I will never trust or stay with another Maxx Property managed property. It took weeks of calling and leaving voicemails with legal action requested to get a call-back. The office would not allow appointments to be scheduled due to COVID. Completely non-functional and inconsiderate of people’s homes and lives.

I was never late with payments and provided documentation for my family (including photos and vet records for my pet cat.)

I lived in apartment 13-104 from August 2018 until January 2021.

This is the second review of this place that I am posting, this place keeps using the excuse of “being short staffed” all the time to avoid taking accountability for letting people move into unfinished and dirty apartments, I have mad multiple work orders regarding my AC not working and acting up, after days of no responses I check the online portal to see any updates w my requests and they marked them as complete when not a soul came to the apartment at all. My AC has been broken for two days now. Both my girlfriend and I both work from home and have to deal w this humid and terribly hot apartment w no updates and no responses from anyone at all. These aren’t even reviews anymore these are literally cries for help that a lawyer can see this and fix the upton because this is 100% ridiculous.

I just want to personally thank Toby for being amazing through the entire process of application, to approval, to questions, and finally move in. He really took great care of me. I know there’s a lot of reviews on here, but things always get better. And that’s what happening here. Thank you Toby for tour outstanding work and I appreciate you.
