The Widow Fletcher's reviews
16Food sucks, drink suck, management should be replaced 3rd time there and a disappointment every time.
Right on the end of the canel that goes to the Gulf.so great location. Seasame tuna Great again.
Nice sunset.
The only reason I give this rating is because we had high expectations. I hope to change it soon. They were out of most of what we wanted, and would not change anything, even removing the cheese from the cuban, for my other guests ALLERGIES. Again, an intolerance is one thing, but an actual allergy is another. Didn't feel we were being helped as we should. The waitress was nice, but apparently management or the kitchen staff didn't help her at all. I hope to see better in the future.
I would love to give this place more stars cause the rest of my large group had great food but I went with the French dip and it was the worst dish on the table dry meat sitting on a wet roll with warm cheese and a few onions.
While my group had steaks, meatloaf, scallops, shrimp and of all the 15 people that were there, they seemed to have a good meal, while my meal was very disappointing.
Great place to gather with friends on a Friday. Decent prices and fabulous food & drink. Service was amazing and prompt. Will definitely go back again. Humidity was low tonight so sat outside by the water.again, just perfect.
Had apps and drinks.conch fritters, jalapeño poppers, bacon wrapped scallops and 2 different kinds of margaritas.
Great atmosphere. Service was ok. But I'm kind of confused on the concept? Is this a gastropub? The fish is frozen mostly which is odd since they're right in a port area. And after eating here we developed scombroid. Which apparently no one at the restaurant even knows what scombroid is. Makes one wonder how their tuna and Mahi are handled let alone any other fish being served here.
Further more when asked if tuna is fresh if it's red fin yellow fin etc was told it is fresh daily. But upon getting the tuna it was clearly prepackaged. Same with the salmon. It's farm raised and dyed to look pink. As well as frozen. And all that from just tasting it. I heard there was a chef here but apparently either the chef left or my information was wrong. Last but not least.the gumbo. Why is it like dirty water? The key to a good gumbo is in the roux. The flour and oil/butter should be stirred and heated until its a dark color this is where texture comes in and how u get the deep flavor a gumbo should have. Should be a little thicker than soup. Not water. Unless of course this isn't made fresh daily either. The menu is very large for the size of the place I could only imagine what food cost is. And the profit margin. I could only assume is probably low. Based on the amount of items on the menu itself. This place has a great concept and great potential. But short cuts and menu size kills it. If it wasn't for the bar and live bands I'm not sure this place would be able to afford payroll, let alone overhead.
Great outside dinning, (indoors available)
3 bars, one bottom level and 2 inside.
Live music, and tvs for watching sports.
Definitely worth checking out.
9/10 Worth visiting for decent food, quick seating, spacious atmosphere in the dining area.
7/10 Worth a first time visit - for the relics, history and food.
8/10 Worth a weekly visit - for the downstairs atmosphere and live music.
7/10 Worth a regular visit - for sports fans and bar enthusiasts.
Our party of four dined in around 2 p.m, during a work week. Our order was out with in 5 minutes. Appetizer arrived within 15 mins. And our main coarse was at the table around 20-25 minutes prior to ordering.
Just plain not good food. Been there several times since it opened. The bar food is adequate, but the meals are definitely not good. I'm not sure what's going on there, but my food is always undercooked or really greasy and inedible. Just not good quality overall for just about every category. I had to quit going after my third friend got sick eating their fish. It's a shame because it's such a wonderful location.
Service is definitely lacking as well. We tried to order a kids meal to-go for our niece at home after we finished our dine-in meal. We were told that the manager said they were not allowed to sell a kids meal unless a child is physically present. I've never heard of anything like this. If they don't want more business, that's their choice. I'm pretty much out of reasons to go back at this point.
Food portions are generally large. The place is huge. Not always the most efficient service and they are often out of menu items, but the prices are fair and the atmosphere (on the water) can't be beat.
You can choose to out in/out based on preference. Indoor seating has plenty of large windows to enjoy the water views.
Bartending is hit-or-miss. Consistency is a problem they could easily fix with better training. Frustrating when a drink is amazing one visit and terrible the next. Mixology can be an artform, but typically it's just a matter of knowing the proper proportions and order to add the ingredients. And honestly, most people order from fewer than 20 regular drinks.
We eat there about once a month and will continue to do so. Anxious to see the upcoming "major changes" that have been teased about.
I had a very good time here. Very good service. I loved my scallops wrapped in bacon and my salmon.
Great food in a casual atmosphere. Look over the inlet with boats going in and out the marina. Great fresh food with good service
The chunky blonde that's either up front or as a bartender is very rude. And she thinks it's okay to talk to customers without being respectful That's how she gets paid is by the customers spending money. The tall brunette that usually up front is so kind She has so much respect She was raised right she'll go far in life that fat blonde won't go very far She don't know how to respect people at all
The 2 delicacies I was looking for were out of season and had to settle for something I had no intentions of coming back for. The staff and environment are definitely worth trying this place out again.
Was really good when we started going there a couple of years ago. Sadly, it has gone downhill recently. Gonna give it a break. Fish and chips have just one small piece of fish with the breading falling off. Ran out of chowder when we were there (the chowder was the main reason we went there in the first place). My meal was forgettable.literally. I can't remember what I had.
Good place to watch sports of your choice. They seemed to have done a better job with some food choices compared to others. Nice atmosphere with a view of the water.
