Stellar service & atmosphere, but the food is only slightly above average in terms of teppanyaki.

I've been to a lot of teppanyaki style dining, and it's honestly hard to find good ones. Most are just passable. The service and atmosphere here are top notch, but the food offerings were expensive, tasty, but not mind-blowing.

I'd recommend this place for anyone who likes this style, but would caution you to prepare for a very high bill for a good experience and good food - but not amazing food.

I rarely leave bad reviews as I typically speak with the manager to help them improve their business.

This review is different.

After ordering a glass of wine, I received a glass which was dirty, with a bit of some food particles on the inside of the wine glass.

I asked for another glass.

This took 5+ minutes.
The second glass was even more dirty. The stem and outer glass were sticky.
This glass seemed to literally be a deliberately delivered dirty glass.
I sat quiet as it's a shared dining experience with others and I did not want to ruin others dinner evening. Someone in my party spoke to the waitress regarding the glass after they felt the glass.

The waitress took the glass and didn't return in 9-10 or more minutes.
I wasn't keen on drinking from any glass after that experience

This is quite unfortunate as I have never had a poor experience at a Disney dine-in restaurant. The chef was great and the Japanese style cooking was entertaining and good, but.

Whatever you do. Don't get that dirty glass. It was pretty.
Ugh

Gross.

The whiskey sour was fantastic! I got the Volcano Roll and the Spicy Crunchy Roll and both were very good, and presentation was a little more than what you normally get. Asking around the table and after Dad Tax, the Karaage and Nigiri were all very good. Our server was also very good, wish I remembered her name. For the price point, I felt they could use a little better chopsticks, but that’s just nitpicking and restaurants need to save wherever they can nowadays. In that same vein, however, I received two cocktail straws, which I never use and find unnecessary…just a thought. Took a look at the dessert menu and didn’t find anything we wanted, so passed on dessert. The price point was fair and I felt we got what we paid for, maybe a little more. I feel the 4.5 avg that they are currently getting is pretty accurate. Very solid but not over the top amazing.

The service here is terribly slow, no clue why. If there aren't enough servers, offer more income and they will flock.

We also had to wait nearly 30 minutes for a reservation, why was a table not reserved and waiting for us?

I am shocked that Disney has gotten so poorly serviced; all too often you have to complain in order to get normal service. Ridiculous.

Update: we are now eating and the food is as if we are living through the Great Depression again. The takoyakis have almost no octopus in them. Why? Did they run out or are they trying to save money on ignorant tourists?

Walt Disney must be rolling in his grave.

Came 10min early for a reservation looked slow but we waited for a good 20min till we went to ask then they got us seated right away. Very slow service. The sushi is bad you can definetly find better outside for cheaper. I ordered the wagyu medium rare it came well done and very chewy. They said it was the last Wagyu so had the steak instead which was okay.

Everything tasted ok, however, overall a really disappointing menu if you're a fan of Japanese cuisine. Essentially varieties of California rolls for sushi. Any local sushi restaurants could beat this offering at a much lower price. Do better Disney.

Was one of my favorite restaurants to frequent during my stay, loved the atmosphere and food. Staff was always super friendly as well.

Very unpalatable, the udon noodle soup is very salty, the sushi is also very average, it tastes very salty, the salmon rice is so hard, I can't taste anything other than salty

Generic and overpriced. Post reopening Tokyo Dining is a shell of its former self. You can find better Japanese food at your local sushi shop. 28 USD for this plate of grilled chicken with store bought tasting sauce and a side of vegetables. No starch included. Save yourself the money and reserve better fare.

My California roll for sure was brought from Costco. Mega expensive for a not that good food. Soooo disappointed. And the server did not make any effort to be sympathetic. And the 50th anniversary dessert wasn't worth it. Too small and the taste, well for sure I had eaten better than that.

Made a last minute dinner reservation and was able to bag one right before the nightly fireworks show. Went to the restaurant to check in at the reservation time and was told that the table would be ready in about 15 minutes. I thought it would be perfect because 9 pm is when the show started so I asked if it would be fine to watch the show first then be seated. She said it wouldn't be a problem. Well, it became one.

Just as the announcement of the show was starting, I was tapped by the host and was informed that they have called my phone 5 times. My phone never rang. He added that we would have to go inside because the kitchen closes at 9: 10 pm. A very specific time, but I said ok. I had 2 other guests with me and since it was their first time in Epcot, I told them to stay out and watch the show while I head inside and order for us.

Our table was by a window with an obscure view of the show. The waiter came and he was very nice from the start. He took my orders and checked in occasionally. As soon as the show was over, my 2 guest came inside as the food were being delivered. Talk about perfect timing.

The food itself were fine. Nothing spectacular or out-of this-world, but it was fine. The soup as an appetizer was very small. The entrees were fine. Again, nothing you couldn't get anywhere else outside of Epcot (but for a lower price.)

So what was the "problem" I had? Well, it was the way the host handled the situation. He was very pushy and I felt extremely rushed to make a decision on what to order. I would've loved to have seen the show, but again, I was told that the kitchen was closing basically 5 minutes after being seated so I just ordered anything without really looking at the menu. A big part of making my decision on where to dine was the location of the restaurant and its view of the show. I just wish that they would have accommodated us and communicated with me better.

I've dined in this location in the past and had a better experience. But the fact that i was rushed into making decisions and the host making me feel like it was my fault, I don't think I would be dining there again the future.

P. S.
Found out later on that night that there was a cast member event and maybe, perhaps, that was the reason why the host was in such a rush to serve their last guests. But was that good reason for him to treat us that way and give us that not-so-good experience?

Great view and space. Food has good variety, but the quality was average for the price charged. We had the shrimp udon, salmon tataki, and two types of sushi roll: hamachi and salmon.

Even tho another Disney app gave this poor ratings, we tried this restaurant at Epcot Japan, and it was very delicious. Our server, Marissa, was excellent! The spicy crunch roll was my favorite, the sashimi was fresh and so tasty, and the tempura shrimp roll was delish. We had sake, plum wine, Sapporo beer and a Tokyo Sunrise drinks. Edamame and tempura chicken for appetizers were good as well and we ordered side salads which had a wonderful ginger dressing. We requested a table by the window and it was great for dining and watching the lake. I highly recommend you give this restaurant a try!

We ate here for my wife’s birthday. The atmosphere was good, but the food was very lacking. Our appetizer was cold and small, and our entrees were also very small. Due to the expensive food and small quantities, you definitely do not get what you pay for. Save yourself the heartache of being excited for sushi and skip this place.

Mediocre food at top prices. The quality and taste of the food isn't any better than what you can get outside the parks for half the cost.

Unfortunately I left unsatisfied with the experience. You're essentially paying extra just because it is Disney, but they really should make it an unforgettable experience if they want people to pay their prices.

I ate at two sit down restaurants at Epcot during this visit and based on both experiences I wouldn't recommend spending twice what the meal is worth. Find a restaurant outside of the park for a better value.

Food and experience were okay. We were told we could check in early, so we showed up 15 minutes ahead of time, but we weren't seated until 10 minutes after our reservation. Seemed like they were short staffed. Sushi and tempura were good, but not great. Comparable to some restaurants we've been to at home, but nothing to write home about. Honestly the free machi icrecream we received at the end was the best part.

Extremely good quality of food with experience, although very high prices for the food. Ordered the Wagyu Steak medium-rare and it came out medium to medium-well. Still a very good meal but with the prices being the limiting factor.
