UF Health Shands Hospital reviews
17Whomever is in charge of food and beverage at this facility should be ashamed of themselves. This was just served to my mother for her dinner" which believe it or not looks much better than the lunch. How is this possible. Imagine what they charged her insurance for this.
Doctors and nurses were great. Facility was really good. Room was great. Only complaint was the food. Absolutely the worst! I ordered a turkey bistro sandwich. 2 slices plain bread, 2 slices of cheap processed turkey. Yuck.
The security guards are no help, a valet was chilling in my car for 30min and they told me not to make assumptions. I was standing outside with my sick 2yo while he was just chilling in my car burning gas. The security guards should get the boot as well. Very disrespectful and unprofessional.
I will always sing Shand's praises, they saved my life! After being at several hospitals and with endless Doctors. It was only when I went to Shands that they reviewed ALL my Medical History and got to the bottom of what was wrong, and took me right into surgery upon arrival, to correct it. After months of not knowing; Shands has dedicated Doctors that put in the time and show they care. What a difference a Hospital makes! What a difference a Doctor makes! Thank you Shands for your incredible staff! I feel unbelievably blessed and grateful.
I just want everyone to know that shands may have had a sketchy pass but they are on to bigger brighter beginnings. I've been feeling pretty bad for like 4 days and then I finally went to Springhill which starts my stay at shands. I was blessed to be on the 7th floor which is a new floor that they have for people who are too bad or the regular floors but not bad enough for ICU. I can't begin to tell you how the staff was so friendly. I had the most beautiful room it was a private room big screen TV walk-in shower plenty of seating for company. And the floors were highly staffed with most wonderful people. And the food was delicious. You also need to remember that you are in a hospital that doesn't mean that the food is supposed to automatically stink. Just may have to add salt and pepper to it didn't matter what I had they had plenty of fresh fruit jell-o I mean you couldn't want for anything here because they have it all. It is a teaching hospital so with my cardiac dr. I had four other students it came with them and I was happy for it because how are you supposed to learn if someone doesn't teach? Now I cannot give a review on the emergency room because I did not come in there, I did however come in through Spring Hill. I can recommend them because their staff is just as friendly and knowledgeable as the staff at Shands.
I want to thank my Doctor, Dr. Ilyas Sahin:
1. Dr. Sahin always thoroughly explains my test results to me patiently.
2. Dr. Sahin is kind and knowledgable.
3. Dr. Sahin is very organized in helping me step by step for my future care.
This place is horrible the wait is always 4 hours, and when I walk in door it literally was on 5 people in the lobby. Soon as the lobby started overflowing with folks than they want work, I even watch them bring people in by ambulance and put them in the lobby to wait. Then you get a bill for $30,000 and you only talk with the provider via tele- monitor for less than 20min such a rip off.
I’m actually very happy to leave a review on the hospital staff doctors, nurses, child life, food staff, cleaning team etc! Everyone I came across were so nice! I actually cried leaving the hospital, they treated me and my son so well! It was the best decision to come to shands! They really care about the kids they worked so hard to take care of my son. The doctors took the right decisions to keep my son alive. The nurses treated my son with love and care. I’m happy to be home but I do miss the staff. My son enjoyed himself as much as he could despite the circumstances. That is what you call hospitality! Even brought an Xbox 360 in the room to boost his morale, mental health while he was laying in bed for days. What more can I ask for! What a loving staff! I’ve seen them treating other patients and it’s with the same love and care! I wish I could do more to say how much you guys changed our lives in those 9 days! Definitely made the hardest time in our lives the best! Me and Leo appreciate everything you’ve done! God bless you all!
Thank you too Nurse Darrin, Maddie Shawna I apologize if I forgot names. Nurse Darrin my son loved you so much!
Doctors & Surgeons (Dr Petroze you’d saved my sons life thank you to you and your staff. Erin you made my sons day ️ Savanah thanks for coming in everyday just to put a smile on my sons face. I wish I could remember the other ladies name she was amazing as well and soo sweet!)
Child life! You are freaking awesome thanks for making the hospital fun for kids! Everything you’ve done to help my son feel happy during this time we appreciate it all ️
I really can go on and on! But Again thank you for your love and hospitality! You all were meant to do what you do! You made a big difference in our lives ️️
Try getting a parking spot in ER parking lot, 99% employees are parking there. Don't they have parking spaces in garage parking? No they don't want to pay for there parking decal.
The nurses during my hospital stay were awesome but something really needs to be done about EVS and the Food Service department. My wife had to be cleaning the room because all EVS did was take out trash and linen and occasionally pass a wet rag on floor. Never touched the bathroom. Good service kept on sending wrong orders after menu requests were done.
My dad is there now. He went into the ER Monday night at 6. They put him and my mom in a room for 4 hours with no response. They had to call and ask for blankets because they were freezing. Then at 4 am they transferred him to the floor and told my mom (83) to drive over to where the new building is and park in the garage and go to the north tower. Well when you get in the garage there is no signage say in what is the north tower. She goes to the information desk (south tower) and two employees walk away. They come back and say what do you need she tells them she is trying to find this room. They told her go to this hall look for the elevator. They need better signage and or guides to help you find your way in this labyrinth.
Just letting ya'll know! These Doctors and Nurses are so wonderful here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such great care of my husband
My son was admitted Friday from the time we got to the er to the time he got his bed they were very nice and the good part about it they was checking on us every 10 minutes seems like and I want to give a big thanks to ped44 you guys rock also the Dr's and the surgery team was great as well they really took care of son
Worst hospital ever.never been to a hospital that won't allow the significant other back with them.screw this place morally wrong to make her do this all alone
My daughter been going to this hospital for years and seem like they not good as people think cause she calls home complaining and crying about what the nurses not doing!
Story to come!
I sent my wife 2 hours from home to get the emergence dental care she required because she was told on the phone how they would help by having oral surgeon come over to ER.
Shame on us!
This won't go unpunished.

The oral maxillary surgical center of UF
was friendly and knowledgeable. I'm having my Surgery on 7/31/23 there & feel good about it, after my consult today with Dr. Nessif & Dr. Straka.
