I had such a negative experience communicating with USF Health Obstetrics & Gynecology prior to my appointment that I canceled my appointment and rescheduled with Women's Care (affiliated with St. Joseph's Women's Hospital).

In three phone conversations with three different USF staff members, I experienced a lack of compassion as well as a lack of follow-through from the medical care team (after I was promised a return call). I'm not even factoring the long hold times for phone calls into my low rating, as I expect that from a large medical facility.

Luckily, I received much better communication, care and follow-through from Women's Care. They even worked me in quickly, which was something USF Health was not willing to do.

Great Drs. Didn't give full 5 stars because staff need to learn they do not have a wall to keep their personal problems from being over heard. I know way too much about loss of a day care voucher. Sorry not sorry personal pet peeve. No your surroundings.

Had an amazing experience here, emergency surgery, couldn't walk from the nerve pain, Dr. Vakhaia killed it. As soon as I woke up I was running around the hospital! Great time with all the nurses as well, 5/5 experience, Thank you!

Be aware if you ask information because you want information about a birth control for example and you decide not to use it, usf midwife will write on the note that you defers that type of contraception. When you actually want information and if you don't want it still will write defers like you plan to have it later.
That how pression is done on women.
Writing in their medical note they defers something they doesnt plan to use/take at all.
Because doctor doesn't like women make choose for themselves they want to influence them.
As well if you not due for any kind of exam they just write defers instead of not due at this time.
In order to try to have you do it sooner than needed/recommend.
Sometimes it's better not to get care them having doctor written inacurate information.
Defers mean at a later time.
Don't force!

I did 2 prenatal care in 2018 and 2019 it was good. Not sure what happen since.
Also feel they want to push you into birth control for any kind of gyn related symptoms you may have instead of giving you explanations. "We can give you birth control to regulate [. ]", or "IUD help with symptoms that may be cause by this condition" and if you have a condition but not the symptoms but asking information in case you have later, they said "defers IUD" when you just feel that make no sence to do something to help with a symptoms you don't have or don't have yet.
As well I feel rush to get into birth control at delivery when I always have the idea you start back at 6 weeks visits. And I was not offer at delivery for my babies born in 2018 and 2019, just got at post partum as plan for the second.
Been suggest/push so much into contraception make me feel there is something wrong and I should beware.
I like better the midwife that were there in 2018/2019. I wasn't feeling they want me to use. Just feel they wanted to do their job by providing information and if not wanted, not writing "patient defers it".

The Neurology department is pure medical negligence. I cannot get into what that they have caused due to HIPPA but I will be contacting the board of health regarding the drs at this facility. Disgusting behavior. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. I will not allow you to treat my family member in this way. They may be to shy to stand up but I will not stay sitting. Awful. Don’t send your loved ones here.

Dr. Amis is incredible. So helpful, so considerate, and so completely respectful. I can't speak to wait time issues mentioned in other reviews, but the care that I got here was absolutely wonderful.

I love TGH and it's network of Doctors. I have always been treated with respect and the appropriate level of concern.

I had a bad experience that I feel I must share. I had a 8: 45 appointment on Aug 1st 2022. I arrived and found out it was cancel, no one had informed me. I was upset and demanded to speak to the supervisor because they rescheduled me for the 19th without ever checking if that date was acceptable for me. But when the supervisor came out. I wanted her name. It had an unusual spelling. So I took out my phone and took a picture of her badge. She said that her badge is PRIVATE INFORMATION. She tried to cover her badge with her hand. She refused to give me the scheduler information until she saw me delete it off my phone. Then the scheduler called me, and after taking full responsibility for not contacting me, she threaten me by saying if I ever take a picture of an employees badge, no doctor will ever see me. A terrifying threat putting me in non stop anxiety because I was going to get a colposcopy reversal.

So taking a picture of a rude care taker badge so you can spell her name correctly, with her proper position title, is not allowed and it is punishable by banishment from USF/Tampa General Hospital doctors services.

Since this warning is not provided, I thought I should warn people.

Trying to get a telephone answer is impossible. Sat on hold for over 30 minutes, recording said ‘calls will be answered in order’ they must have thousands of calls and only one operator for it to take that long.

If I could give this place more stores, I would! Every encounter I’ve had with the different specialists here have been amazing. These doctors really care about their patients and are phenomenal on educating them also.

I recently visited this facility to see a John Mccormick, MD for a physical.

In the exam room I was greeted by a medical student with very brief doctor face time at the very end.

I felt that I was leading the meeting, which is the opposite of how it should be.

No screening was done and nothing was covered in any kind of detail.

I was told that critical items like diet are not important.

I am disputing the charges with my health insurance company. Charges are fraudulent because services were not rendered.

USF Health the quality of doctors here is worth the small insignificant inconveniences there may be in parking, and not getting a reminder on when your own appointment time is.

If you are looking for a Primary Care Doctor, PLEASE look elsewhere! I started taking my kids here when my (now 12 year old) was first born. I decided to continue here for myself, my husband, and all 4 of our children. In the beginning, everything went well. After my husband stopped breathing in his sleep and it took them 3 weeks to call me back with some guidance, I decided to switch doctors. One of the employees there convinced me to give them another chance since they now had mychart, which was supposed to improve communication. I had an MRI scheduled for July 30th that I had set on June 30th. I get a call July 29th that I would need to reschedule because they still hadn't received an authorization from my insurance. Nice to know a day before. After making over an hour worth of calls back and forth, it was because the insurance hadn't received the information they needed to authorize the service. I called into USF health and was told that I would get a call back, with no follow up. If you want a facility that actually cares about your health, please look elsewhere. We are currently in the process of doing the same.

The best physicians in Tampa, great care. However, the staff is not service oriented, wait times are long, and the physicians are hard to reach by phone because every call goes through a central system; there is no easy way to reach your Doctor's office directly. Management really needs to re-think thw system. If that were done, I would give it 5 stars

I went into Tampa general for a mitral valve repair at 730. Woke up in the icu. From that point on the nurses there gave me unbelievable care. I left the hospital at 3pm that Friday not believing I was walking out. Not in a wheel chair but walking. Dr Lozonschi and his group along with Tampa general to me, deserves 10 stars if not more I'm buying them all lunch Thursday for all shifts

If your looking for a once a year annual checkup doctor then this place is for you! But pray you don't ever come across any actual medical issues because they will find every excuse in the book not to actual figure out what is wrong. I would have given only one star, the second star is only because I truly believe the doctors were at one point decent. And also for the only person I've seen there who actually listened to my concerns fully while providing intelligent responses which was ARNP Rheinlander. I've been at this office since 2018 and they have disregarded multiple issues I have brought to their attention. Thankfully other physicians at Mayo clinic found two of the issues with one requiring surgery and the other antibiotics. I've have Dr. Pena try to convince me I was depressed when going in for fatigue (which was comical), tell me I have anxiety (because being concerned about being in constant pain and actually asking questions to understand must mean you have anxiety) and meds thrown at me as an answer for everything. Avoid this office if you can. But if you cant see ARNP Rheinlander, Dr Spiewak was decent as well but I only saw her for telemedine.

Do not use them for prenatal care. Their billing department/manager billed us addition prenatal doctor visits on top of the "global fee" which they set, which defeat the purpose of global fee (no surprise billing) for prenatal care. They don't care about you. They only care about money. They did not told us that they will bill us extra. They are very deceptive. They refused to fix it. We won't be using them again for our baby or next pregnancy.

Typical negatives of a large physicians group- takes a while to reach the correct person on the phone, requesting medical records is difficult and time consuming, parking at the downtown location is inconvenient. I saw one midwife who was great (Amy) but the other two I saw were pushy about prescribing birth control and about following routine hospital procedures (IV, pitocin, etc). Would not recommend.

This review is for Dr John D. Mccormick.
Used to be my primary on recommendation from another trusted doctor. I switched after three visits. He is charming and funny which I'm sure makes him a favorite as a pediatrician however as an adult with a complex problem I don't need to be pandered to, talked down to or dismissed. I need to be told honestly if a doctor understands my disease and the side effects of my medications at the first visit, not told they don't at the third. I need the doctor to remember which labs he ordered and actually check them within three months time, not told he never ordered them when his name is right in the lab results. I need a doctor to collaborate with other doctors in the USF group. I need a doctor who cares and pays attention. It's possible it's not actually his fault, that he's extremely overworked, as is obvious because of the attitude of his office staff and the two plus hour wait time. But in one case his decision was actually dangerous. At this point I can't even recommend taking a healthy child to him.
