USO Central Florida reviews
13Beat food selection I have ever seen especially since we could take a few items to go. Big bags of candy and Crumble cookies. Great staff.
Was told on the phone I could bring a guest as long as they weren’t full (I’m spouse of retired vet). But at door they said only active duty could bring in guests. Not a big problem, I can follow procedures, but would have changed my plans and it caused problems for me.
Small but very friendly staff. Thanks for the snacks) Thank for supporting those that serve.
Small, yet cozy and relaxing. Friendly staff, reclining leather seats, Starbucks coffee and outlets to charge your phone. What more do you need? Quiet and low foot traffic. Would definitely recommend and will visit again when passing through Tampa.
Was welcomed with a smile, multiple seating options. Couches and high tables made it cozy felt like being at a friend's home. And very clean! (Loved the starbucks hot coffees offered <3
I'm a retired african American veteran with locs. I used the facilities on April 10 2023 and did not feel welcome at the tampa international airport which I can only attribute to my appearance. I understand that the place is on a space available basis for retirees and I was made well aware of that before I could even sign in properly. Fortunately they were virtually empty. I observed several other white retirees enter the premises and they were greeted warmly and without mention of the space available caveat. The blonde lady that runs the place kept looking and peeping at me as if she were checking on a sick child. When it was time for me to exit I said thank you for your hospitality and her response was gooood bye! She might as well have said good riddance.
Had a 6 hr wait with family and couldn’t get in with expired ID or American legion ID. Don’t have current retired ID because of Covid and working full time job!
Only reason it’s not 5 star is it is very small. So small that you use the airport bathrooms. 2 1/2 tables to sit at. 2 couches in tv room. Definitely the smallest USO I have been in but always nice to get somewhere away from the bustle.
Snack selection is pretty good. No real food, just snacks. Healthy options like yogurt and fruit though so that’s nice, especially if traveling with kids.
Staff were very personable and helpful.
This location was a bummer for a few reasons. We were traveling with retired Air Force, but not welcome because the USO was "almost full, and we are not military. " Retired Air Force was able to stay alone, and keep his diabetic meds cold, but alone. Rules in the USO say you must stay with your stuff, so he had to leave when he got hungry (our flight was late in the day, and we arrived early.) Maybe a good choice if you are a service member, past or present?
I am a medically retired Army Combat Medic with a 100% VA rating due to injuries incurred in the line of duty who was traveling through the Tampa Airport on March 18,2023 with my wife, stepson, and 86 year old father in law. We had arrived to early to check our bags at Alaska airlines next to the USO. I showed Alan T.my retired Army ID, and was told that my family wouldn't be able to come in with me. Shane on you for turning away a disablecombat veteran and his family Alan! I've volunteered at the SeaTac USO, and we would NEVER turn away aretiree!
They are so rude and inconsiderate. What happened to being inclusive and helping veterans? I’ve never heard of the USO being for only active duty, highly disappointed.
Great place. Super friendly staff, plenty of snacks, and space to chill out. The USO is on the second floor on the check in floor.
Great place and nice people. It's on the ground floor before you head up to security.
