9Seriously a really cool little bike shop first time going and I have an old Cannondale road bike that I’ve been having so much trouble with finally got it almost back together, but I had the chain all screwed up and needed to get the chain. Restarted through the derailer and back on the bike so I took my bike there in pieces and of course I forgot the mechanism that holds the tire in place and the younger guy there took the bike and put the chain back on and put two new mechanisms in to hold the tires in place when he was finished with the bike. It was totally rideable. I asked him how much I owe him and he said nothing And I said oh my god thank you I am used to getting ripped off, so it was so nice to not be ripped off and yeah it was an awesome experience I recommend
Called to have a wheel bearing replaced. They said bring the bike in as they have a bunch of bearings and they might have one that fits. I brought the bike in and then they said that could not work in it until Friday. It was Monday and I said okay no problem. Then they told me I could not leave the bike. He asked if I could just leave the wheel. Probably could have but how do I then get it home. I was then told that I would need to contact the bike company and order the part and they would install it. Wish they would have said that on the phone. I get there are a bunch bikes on the market and you can’t have parts for all of them.
On another note the store looked very nice. Had a huge inventory of bikes and looked like they had a nice service section. I wish they would have helped me as I would have liked to work with them in the future. I’m sure we’d be upgrading our bikes in a short time.
Last Friday my husband and went to Village Cycles to rent E-bikes for a couple of days. Mike the owner introduced us to several bikes. He took the time to help us find the right fit. He also let us try the folding Biria which we really liked. We arranged with Mike to pick up these bikes on Monday for two days. He told us he would have them ready for us. Monday we went to pick the bikes only to find out from one of Mike’s employee that “whoever arranged to rent these specific bikes, made a mistake”. He then took the tags that Mike had taped on the bikes off and showed us another type of bike which was not suitable for my husband due to hip problem. We were left with no other option. Mike was not there and his employee made no attempt to help us at all. We left the store very disappointed and upset. We left messages on their website for Mike to call us. No one called us. Tuesday we went to Pedego electric bikes on trailwids village where we had the best experience ever thanks to Andy who went out of his way to help us out. We are definitely buying the Pedego e-bikes. Customer care is very important to us and The Villages Cycles is not the place for us.
Came in for a helmet and older employee offered no assistance whatsoever. I guess if I wasn’t buying an overpriced bike, I was on my own.
Windy was Extremely helpful. I had an issue with the comfort of my seat and sores it was causing. She took plenty of time with me…adjusting my seat height, tilt, mirror etc etc. She also suggested a pair of bike shorts which are absolutely fabulous! I was charged only for the shorts which I would have purchased regardless. Her help and expertise were complimentary and invaluable. I’ll never go anywhere else!
Problem Solved. I am a Happy Rider Again!
It took 2 weeks to get an appointment for an annual PM for my Specialized eBike. Then it took 4 more days of having the bike in the shop for them to complete what couldn't have been more than 30 minutes worth of work. After multiple phone calls over those 4 days to find out if the bike was ready, I was shocked to see that they didn't even clean the chain and gears. Their $75 service is a complete waste of money. Apparently, it costs at least $125 to get the chain and gears cleaned. For $75 they wiped down the frame, but even that was of poor quality. I cleaned the chain and gears myself later that day in about 15 minutes. To summarize, this store is too expensive for the maintenance services provided, it takes way too long to get that service done and I wouldn't call the staff I dealt with helpful or even personable.
My chain was coming apart on a group ride w Sumter Landing BC. Went to villages bike shop where they fixed me up and sent me down the road. Much appreciated!
I called to see if they had the parts I needed. They said they did so I drove a 1/2 hour just for them to tell me they didn't have the parts there but they could oder them.
Very nice shop with reasonable prices. If you visit the shop you are very likely to meet the owners who are very nice and sincere people. They have a very good selection of bikes and accessories including some hard find things.
