Vizcaya Museum & Gardens reviews
17Wonderful place to visit in Miami. Centred around a magnificent early 20th century Italianate mansion with beautiful and extensive gardens with enchanting waterfront.
Delightful time exploring the grounds. Beautiful architecture and gardens, well worth a visit.
Beautiful gardens and fantastic baroque architecture. What a lovely respite in the heart of Miami.
Gardens and formal estates like this tend to be a winner in my book, and Vizcaya was no exception! Indeed, I feel like it competed well with some sites in Europe. We didn't visit every inch of the house, since I have seen enough old, rich people houses, but the gardens and bay held our interest for 2.5 hours. We would have probably eaten at the cafe and stayed a bit longer, if we didn't have a flight to catch.
I had read the parking situation could be rough, but we lucked out and got one of the last spots in the main lot. That was with us arriving a bit after 11am on a pleasant weather Saturday. Parking was free.
Admission is pretty expensive at $25/each, but as part of the cost of going on vacation, it was totally worth it.
I heard it was possible to see manatees in the bay near the stone barge, but I figured we'd probably not be so lucky. As it turns out - we were! We saw two large manatees swimming by, near the mangroves a bit north of the barge. Of course, we were making an effort to see them, and probably spent about 40 minutes in that spot. Additionally, we saw a large iguana in a tree, many different birds, and countless tiny lizards throughout the park. If you are an animal lover, it will be worth it to bring a camera with a nice zoom.
The mansion is a little green gem in the bustling Miami that I must recommend for anybody.
The architecture leans heavily in a roman styled house and decoration, and the gardens are pretty impressive.
From what I have read of the history and the price of admission, a MUCH better job could have been done in restoring and curating the gardens. As well as both the map, written descriptions and online audio guide leave a LOT to desire.
A magnificent place to discover. I spent three hours there without realizing it. Everything is beautiful, both inside and outside. Just plan the entry budget ($25pp).
This is my favorite place so far and I’ll definitely going to spend my time when I am visiting Miami again! The coffee shop in the garden next to the house has a nice and relaxing ambiance. Great to just hanging out there if you like serenity.
Incredible place, a very beautiful space to explore and the audio guides are very useful. It is advisable to wear comfortable and cool clothing, because it feels very hot.
Parking is a nightmare. Staff directing it must definitely need training in basic leadership to coordinate and announce options as it’s a big place with hundreds of people driving in and out.
Took us 30 minutes traffic from entrance to go around loop where valet parking had a disorganized mess before some tourist told us they did same mistake of 30 minutes traffic around loop when there is free big parking lot that belongs to the museum across the street. Obviously all without signs
Besides the above issue, IT’S A MUST SEE PLACE IN FLORIDA, AND A SURELY MISTAKE NOT TO VISIT IF YOU ARE IN SOUTH EAST FLORIDA.
This is a very beautiful place. Very under-rated. One must try to visit this place when in Miami. The location and views are absolutely stunning. A great place for a photo shoot. The entry fee is slightly on the expensive side, but worth a visit.
Beautiful place any time of the year, the inside rivals the outside and if you haven't been to Miami this is a great way to feel the location away from the energy of downtown
The only thing I couldn't find out.was the name of the painters of the paintings that are exhibited there. I asked the guide staff, they couldn't tell me, the paintings I saw had no shape of their authors, I searched on Google and nothing.if someone can give me that information I would appreciate it
Really enjoyed this gallery and its pretty gardens. Initially thought $25 per person was a bit much for a gallery, but once we arrived, it was totally worth it. The house is big, beautiful, and looks like a picture, plus the gardens are well-maintained. The ocean view is stunning. Planning to visit again on our next trip for sure.
A beautiful villa in the style of Italian buildings from the early 20th century, interesting decor and antiques, plus a wonderful garden and marina. You can break away for a moment and feel like you are in Italy on Lake Como. One of the most interesting points on the map of Miami.
This place was beautiful and well preserved. It wasn't too crowded on a Sunday when we went. Would highly recommend if visiting Miami
I've lived in Miami my entire life and it never occurred before to visit, it was just a place I was shocked by the beautiful of such hidden treasure for us Miami ppl. This is a must.
We come here every time we visit Miami area. Plan to take your time and have lunch. It will take 3 or more hours for the house and gardens.
