Waffle House

I last visited this Waffle House several years ago. I have not been back until very recently as the prior several experiences were not good.

The most recent visit was different. There is a different staff. The "queen bee" that appeared to be previously intimidating the staff and customers was gone. The result is a friendlier atmosphere and better food.

Waffle House, for those who may not be familiar with the chain, is a basic, no-frills restaurant. My usual meal there is breakfast. It is open 24 hours.

Staffing must be a problem. With the labor participation rate hitting a 50-year low recently, there are fewer people applying for jobs. Waffle House is trying hard to get more applicants and, obviously paying more than they used to as a result of inflation and a labor shortage. (See the ad for applications in the photos.)

Having been at a Waffle House at different times, a Waffle House can be a tough job. Some customers are unpleasant—or even nasty, mean and looking for a fight. Some take delight in intimidating young, female servers who are probably working hard to make ends meet. Take a look at some of the videos of fights posted on the Internet in Waffle Houses in places like Atlanta. Most would be hesitant or just afraid to work where these events can take place.

"Sunshine" was the server today when I sat down. She was pleasant, made sure the order was entered correctly and filled as ordered. She also brought out a second cup of coffee quickly.

The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly.

On prior visits, the store was not clean. There were some crumbs on some booths today when I sat down but much cleaner than previously. Sunshine noticed there was water on the surface of my table and she brought a dry rag to clean it off.

In short, the food was good, the server was pleasant and efficient, and the restaurant was clean. It is also an inexpensive place to eat—one reason there are often family groups in the restaurant for breakfast.

Terrible! Walk in the establishment @10: 31 & by 10: 44 walked out because no the waitress did not make an attempt to take my order. The establishment was not crowded at all. One table near the bar were already having their breakfast, one table near the highway window were about ready to pay and other table also near highway window were about to get served with their. Behind the bar was the duty manager along with a waitress, two ladies washing dishes and the lady with the red polo shirt was to clean tables. All these employees saw me sitting there by table as you walk in the entrance but were rather to busy discussing their working schedule. It is not if my appearance was that of a homeless person. My was very professional. Also the lady cleaning tables did a very job on the tables due to the fact that my was so sticky from syrup.

We had to wait forever to be seated and when we did get seated we waited for over 40 minutes and then we waited another 10 minutes still nothing so we left

This is by far the dirtiest restaurant I’ve ever been in. I have been several times (I’m local) and always in the morning. I’ve attributed the dirty tables to constant turn over of guests. Today I went at 12: 30. HALF of the tables were empty and covered with dirty dishes. The floor was covered in food. Plenty of serve staff, even a hostess working… no one cleaning. I entered and the hostess told me to wait outside while they attempt to clean. Even though there are chairs available to wait inside, she blocked me and said for me to go outside. I’m a woman and had my child with me. It’s 98 degrees today. Even a guest leaving, couldn’t believe they were blocking me and told me to wait outdoors. I left and will never return. Disgusting trashy workers and clearly horrific management at this location.

Good food. That’s about it. We went at 6: 30 am. Service was awful. There was only one other table in the dining area, but we Had to wait 20 minutes for a cup of coffee. Our order did not come out right. Our teas were served without ice. We asked for to go boxes, but didn’t get the lids with them. Bathrooms did not have any toilet paper and were not clean. We also had to listen to one of the employees complain about working on her day off and another about how her baby had a blow out on the way to work. Would not recommend eating here and we will not be back.

Zero if I could.wish I could rate the food but never got that far. 7 people stacked behind the bar. We sat at counter but must have had our invisible cloak on as we sat for 10 minutes and had no acknowledgement silverware or coffee. Just blank stares. So after 10 minutes of being ignored we debated leaving but stayed because everyone has bad days. But and however, when one of the staff ordered another get someone off the toilet, that was our sign to get hell up otta the awful waffle. Worst crew I've ever seen.

The food was amazing and the customer service was even better. The workers were very nice and they made me feel very at home! I would definitely check this place out if you’re in the area.

Food was good, service was great. The two men we had attending to us had constant smiles and great attitudes. We went around 8: 30 on a Tuesday and would definitely go again if the same workers were present.

They know how to turn tables. This place was absolutely packed. We thought we would be waiting for quite a while it was only about 10 minutes. Our drinks never went empty our food was delivered very quickly

Stopped in for breakfast with 3. Was not super busy. 2 of us ordered hash brown bowls, hold the hash browns. This is my go to order at WH since I don't eat potatoes. I understand it's a modification, but it's really not a big one. Waitress put in the order in and the line cook got really upset. We left after 5 minutes of listening to him complain, very loudly. Highlight of the rant was "we're not here to make people whatever they want. "

Always order pork chops.grits.eggs. Always ask every location I go to. Please bring my chops with my whole breakfast.they never do. I'm confused.

My first time at the Waffle House. Loved it! Great waffles, not too thick. Coffee was good and all of our meals were tasty.

I walked in and asked for a to-go order. I was told they were not doing any to-go orders because they didn't have any to go plates. I looked above the lady and noticed plenty of to go boxes. She consulted with the other 2 employees and they agreed they were not doing any To go orders but if we really wanted to order they would make an exception for us. They were not friendly at all. My party of 4 decided it would be best to find somewhere else to eat.

The waitress took to long to clean up the table for us, and after cleaning it smelled bad because it looked like she used a dirty cloth to clean it, besides that she was very rude when we were ordering the food, saying she didn't understand what we were saying, I believe that type person should not work in an environment that receives tourists from other cities and states, I have never had this kind of treatment in any WH we went to before, it made us feel that we were not welcome there. I made a complaint with the manager who served me very well and understood perfectly. I hope I never go through this type of treatment again because we have been consumers of WH for many years but this store in particular I don't recommend it to anyone

If I could give this place a -0 I would. Me and my family came in and sat down and 10 mins went by and no one came to give out menus or take our order. Finally my husband grabbed a few menus and we still sat another 15 mins. Two Asian men came in and sat down and they got their order taken and everyone walked passed up as if we didn’t exist. We’re NEVER coming back. The cigarettes smoking trailer trash women workers there and the dusty lumber jack boot wearing men will not have to worry about us coming there anymore. Worst experience ever!

Went for late night coffee and food. The basics. The people that run this location are wonderful and care so much. It elevates this humble establishment into a must go.

Came in to make a to-go order around 10: 15. A server informed me that 2 groups were in front of me. I waited patiently, but 15 minutes and an extra 3 groups later, I went to a different server and told her I had been forgotten. She agreed to take my order.
It’s 10: 37 now, and the 1st server I spoke to still hasn’t acknowledged me.
