West Bay of Tampa, Oldsmar FL

My mother is a resident here, during this Covid outbreak we are not allowed to bring anything to her, all must be sent through the mail as they claim they are going by CDC guidelines. So we are to let many more people touch the package, because that makes sense. I wonder if these same guidelines are the ones that allowed sick employees to infect several patients. If it were possible I would move her to another facility.

If you have any love for your relative don’t put them here. They are rude, no compassion, give you the run around! My relative declined greatly here and became seriously depressed. The people answering the phone are very unprofessional. My fathers phone was off the hook for hours because he knocked it over as he is legally blind took hours to get help so family could call. Took 2 phone calls to have his bottom changed after an accident. Asked staff to lower his roommates tv because it was so loud couldn’t talk to my dad they said he has a remote right near him. They were flippant and bothered by our request and I explained again my dads tv isn’t on and even if it was he’s blind, it was his roommates and we just needed it lowered for five minutes so we could hear him. I had to place my stepfather in a nursing home about 2 months ago and Vinchezna the director was very helpful in helping me get my father in to the facility in a timely manner. So far most of my family is pleased with the care my father has been given. Thanks, James karbens

This is a terrible facility. This facility kicked out my mother, knowing that she couldn't walk and fully function. They didn't even let her children know that she was being discharged. The people know they don't feel bad because they're heartless.

2 Peace Band - Played music there at a Christmas party for family and guests. The meal and all details flowed so nice. Staff well organized
and friendly. We were positively impressed and grateful for the opportunity.

This is the only skilled nursing facility that I will send my mother too. We have toured most of them in Hillsborough and surrounding counties. My mother was in another nursing home in Tampa it was not a good fit so we brought her to west bay. She was there from April 2019 until October 2019 (when I got to bring her home). I am very grateful for the staff. They always treated my mother like a queen. The nursing staff was great to her and took care of things in a timely manner. She had the BEST CNA (Loren). She was like family by the time we left. Also, the therapy dept.was amazing. My mother showed more improvement here than any other facility. I couldn’t say better things about this place. We still go back every month to visit her friends and the staff. If she is ever needing to go back this is the only place she will go. THANK YOU WESTBAY!

Touring West Bay of Tampa was a great experience. It was my 7th building I’ve toured looking for placement for my mother and I was getting discouraged that I would never find a place she would be happy in. However when I arrived I walked into a winter wonderland. The building was decorated so nicely and the residents had smiles on their faces gathered in the lobby engaging with family and staff. Everyone was so happy, I knew my mother was gonna be happy and fit right in. Thank you West Bay!

One wing was fine, but in the other, a woman had fallen from her bed, and when I walked past, she was just lying there. I told the aid and got a terse verbal response. Then I saw an elderly woman near the nurses station, in a wheel chair, with blood all over her.no one even cared to clean it up. I took my youngster to visit an elderly friend. It traumatized her, and me too. Deplorable!

BEWARE! They are HORRIBLE. I cant stress enough how awful this place is. Even with daily visits and complaints from family and friends, nothing changes. It's over crowded, and short staffed. The aids and nurses have 30+ patients each. They run out of supplies, and leave residents in bed without getting them up for days at a time. It smells like a gas station bathroom throughout the facility, and the director and administrator are rude.

Do not under any circumstances place a loved one here. They will lie and tell you anything you want to hear to get you in. They leave residents in their own urine and feces for hours, dont clean rooms, or wheel chairs even with constant requests. If your loved one needs assistance in or out of the porch, they get left for hours stuck outside. They dont bathe their residents regularly, not even once a week. Stay far away.

I had delivered a pizza from Pizza Hut on 06/26/19 and was absolutely disgusted with how these nurses treat the elderly staying here, I walked down to the nurses center down hallway 4, when I approached this nurse to get the room number for the customer, she instantly snapped, interrupting me pointing at another nurse to ask someone else, extremely rude! As I was leaving, a small older lady in a wheelchair went up and tapped on that same nurse and how that nurse reacted made my stomach turn into knots! She snapped at the old lady and yelled “Oh my God! Not you again! Get away from me! ” As she walked away from her. Right in front of 2 other staff members and they just laughed and did not care of how rude and disrespectful she was! This lady had long light brown curly hair with a blues clues scrub shirt on, I didn’t catch her name.unfortunately, but she also had tattoos on her arm, right arm I believe. When I tried to call and report it, they kept stating there weren’t any supervisors or managers on duty.convenient for them. Absolutely disgusted, I personally know families who trust this place with their parents and grandparents and I will be sharing this with them! This lady needs to be fired!

I have my mother here your over two year and at the begining everything was good, clean, with fair personnel but not anymore. I think the Genesis company doesn't want to expend money in quality life for their residents. Some of the CNA's don't change the residents when they are wet or dirty every two hours how is suppose to be then the resident get blisters and ulsers. The UTI's issues are to frequent as every months, they don't encourage the resident to drink liquids enough and if the resident don't want to drink they just let them until the resident get the infection and is resolve with the medication and is the same story over and over. Cleanless is not the same any more, the smell need some attention. They tossed the residents clothes in the floor in bags in the closet when they move the patient for one side to other, there isn't compation anymore. Unless you have money to pay a expensive place for your parents nursing homes will just toss your loveones in a room in the corner until the resident pass away.

Excellent care for my Father. He has been here for a week now. All of the staff are very courteous and respectful. He has been well cared for and my family certainly feels better that he is at West Bay. Thank you all for caring for Dad.

Everything from house keeping to administrative staff have been professional, loving, knowledgeable and caring. They have helped me with my recovery. If I ever need a rehab facility in the future this is the only place I'll come. If I ever need a long term care facility I would not go any other place but here.

My grandmother stayed there for 3 weeks. A few staff members were nice in our presence. However, one of the days my grandma was staying there, her roommate fell in the room and hit her head hard. We called for help and a few staff members came in the room, not even rushing. The nurse was yelling down to the lady on the floor asking her why was she up walking around and being very rude about it. Then after they picked her up and put her in a wheelchair, another worker walked in and asked what happened, and the Nurse told her that Margaret fell and hit her head and busted out laughing and walked out the room. My brother and I were visiting our grandma whom was her roommate and were in disgust seeing the nurse laugh at a patient who fell and was screaming in pain with a huge lump on her head. I told the other 2 healthcare workers that I didn't see anything funny about her falling at all. I never got to tell the lady who fell daughters whom come to visit her frequently what happened to their mother who stays there because we ended up taking my grandma out of there a few days later. I hope they somehow find this online. If they laugh at patients who fall and hit their head and talk rude to them when their crying on the floor, who knows what else they do especially when we're not around! Do not take your family there. Oh and munchies grandma was on a purée diet. She was given mashed postatoes, green beans, and chicken every day for 3 weeks with the exception of 1 or 2 days of a different meat. They literally feed the purée patients the exact thing everyday of their life. I know because I went there daily to feed my grandmother.
