Whetstone Chocolates Store and Tasting Tour reviews
17Chocolate tasting tour was amazing. Very informative tour to see how Chocolate candy is formed and packaged. My wife is the one who wanted to go on this tour but men enjoy it as well. Thanks to all the staff at Whetstone for sharing with us your time and valuable knowledge.
What a fun tour! Tour guide had a wonderful sense of humor. The chocolate is so creamy and absolutely the best dark chocolate I've ever tasted!
The chocolate was delicious and the factory was immaculate. But if you're going for the tour, the tour guide, Melanie, has the charm of Joey Diaz and is rude and quick snap at anyone.
Initially gave 2 stars. Now took to 1. Tour guide gave us stickers and said we could get 10% off at any location. I held on to the sticker and came back 4 days later to buy some chocolate. The lady at register said the sticker was not good at their location. This company just needs to restaff everyone here.
Our tour guide was excellent. The chocolate tastes fantastic. You can taste the care and pride that goes into the chocolate. The Gelato is good too!
Lane was our guide and she made it so fun. We got to try like five different chocolates, it was a great place to take out of town visitors to.
Our tour was fun and informative. The chocolate was delicious, they taught us quite a lot we didn't know. There is so much more to making chocolate.so much has to be done before it's even nibs.the white eewwewy gooey bits are cool. I wish I could remember her name she was just a lovely guide.
Very interesting tour. Their chocolate is very good. It's better than Gevalia - but not quite as good as Fannie Mae/May (Not sure FM is still making chocolates and confections).
This is a must stop in St. Augustine. Their tasting tour is free and they give you about 8 different local wines to taste. Watch out because you can get dizzy. The younger guide was amazing and entertaining. Thank you for making memories for people.
We absolutely loved the chocolates and the fact the company decides to keep a small location with just a few employees But.we we're so disgusted by the guide that we didn't enjoy the tour at all. She was rude and so disrespectful to some spanish guests and at some point everyone else. She seemed miserable to work there, and it showed. She was shewing people out of her way, rolling her eyes and not being polite at all. She said her name was Melanie, I believe. To have someone represent your company on a tour you should choose someone that doesn't give such a bad impression. I was completely disgusted that she gave us fudge samples by making us put them on the palm of our hands. Nobody said to anyone about washing your hands and even if hands were washed, it was caramel all over your hands. It was semi melted fudge with caramel and got all over our hands. Of course she wasn't slowing down to allow anyone to wash either. It was messy and it wasn't sanitary at all. A napkin would've been nice. The factory part was so loud from the machines that we couldnt hear anything she said about any of the processes. She had a speaker on her face but apparently it wasn't working. Another lady was on a machine working and people smiled and said hi and she just stared with a blank face and didnt even say hi back. Is every employee miserable here? Then, finally, at the end of the tour, she becomes nice and asks for people to leave a "wine fund tip". I'm sorry but, no way after how she acted. It was the only bad experience we had anywhere in St Augustine during our week long honeymoon visit.
Fun and informative experience while visiting St. Augustine. A little pricey but overall a good experience. Melanie was a great guide and provided a lot of information. While her personality is not the typical southern charm, she has her own style and humor and makes it a fun experience.
Great chocolate tour! This was well worth the time and money. John, our tour guide, was excellent. His dry humor added to the extra information. The samples along the tour were wonderful and it was amazing to see the candy being made and wrapped. This is some of the best chocolate I've ever had. Don't miss the tour. It's also nice and close to a distillery and a winery.
This is a very interesting way to spend an hour or so. We learned a lot about chocolate in terms of history and the different types. We saw the production methods and were able to sample different blends. It was great. Whetstone is a historic company in their own right. On top of that, we were given a discount for chocolate products we bought. They even have gourmet ice cream and gelato. If you don't have time for the tour, give yourself a treat and buy some of their chocolate.
Absolutely awful to service dogs, even with a sign welcoming them. This was the store personnel. Not recommended!
It was a great little tour and fun history of the company! So glad we went, the chocolate was delicious
If you're a chocoholic I highly recommend this tour of chocolates. I'm not a chocoholic, but my wife is and she loved it I myself found it a great experience
I thought this chocolate tour was very informative, fun and had a wide variety of yummy chocolates to try! The factory itself is neat and the process of making the chocolates and everything was visually interesting to see. Our tour guide Joe was funny, personable, knowledgeable and made the 1 hour tour worth it! I do however wish they could've provided cups of water for all of us to have because it was a lot of chocolate to try. Overall, I rate it an 8/10!
Lane was the best. She was genuinley funny and very informative. I have been on a few chocolate tours and I learned the most on this one. I loved the valencia orange shell with the de leon. She recommended the white chocolate as a subsitiute to creamer and if it says confection it is bc they added palm oil etc. De Leon dark chocolate was delicious, Menendez was great for your health, and the chocolate cabernet wine sauce
