Whitney's Bait & Tackle, Sanibel FL

Outstanding customer service! I rented a rod and reel today. The reel failed (lost a nice fish -oh well). I brought the reel back and he swapped it out - no questions asked! They’re super friendly and super knowledgeable! Oh, and they’re open until 9: 00pm! There’s no beating that!

My brother-in-law and I went fishing with Captain Jarrett Jones on Thursday February 3. Both novices, Captain Jarrett had us on to the fish within minutes. Not only did I catch the largest sheepshead I had ever caught, but it was the largest sheepshead I’d ever seen! Big fun. Lots of fish, beautiful scenery.

I was particularly interested in learning about inshore techniques with artificials. Capt. Jarrett was an enthusiastic teacher.

Capt. Jarrett is a great guy and took excellent care of us, a couple of Okie land-lubbers.

I went into the shop to rent a rod and reel. One of the employees waited on me and said he was a guide that did boat and shore fishing, was quoted a price, boat was $100 more than shore. I had booked a trip with another guide service and they had to cancel so I was in the market for a boat trip. The next day the employee called me and said he had an opening, I assumed it was for a boat fishing trip as the price was what I was quoted the day prior for a boat trip. I met the guide the next morning, I had to drive because his vehicle was in the shop. We drove out to Captiva and it turned out that this was a shore trip. We fished and only caught a few small fish. Tried a few other spots and finally at the end of the day we caught a few small snapper that were barely legal. Got back to the shop and I was told that had to pay cash because his services are not associated with the shop. I was upset had to go to an ATM to pay him for a lousy day fishing. I feel this was deceptive practices and verging on bait and switch. Not sure the shop even knew what was going on but this employee will insure I never return to the shop.

This is by far the BEST bait and tackle store I’ve been to in Florida. The selection of live bait, to apparel, to all convenience items, to the staff, to the old camp style feeling. I mean shoot, if you pass this place up for somewhere else your nuts. Drive the extra 10-20 minutes for this place if need be! Rock on & tight lines!

Great customer service! Had everything we needed to get set up for fishing on the beach! Make sure to get long pliers in case you hook a shark!

Great bait shop, very helpful. We rented fishing gear and the young lady set us up. Caught tons of fish.

We did a half day Charter with Nate. Super dude and nice boat too! We took our 2 boys ages 7 and 13 and Nate made sure we caught tons of fish. Wasn't so much the trophy fish but we caught so many we lost count which keeps the kids happy! He even cleaned our bigger (legal) ones and we took them to lazy Flamingo and had lunch after! Will definitely be doing it again and requesting Nathan!

Whitney’s is a great bait shop, with excellent and friendly staff! There is a wide assortment of all your fishing needs. Highly recommend!

Came here with my husband and Whitney was so nice and super helpful! He got us everything we needed. Great selection of everything you could possibly need for fishing. His staff was really nice too!

The girl that works here is so nice.she told me alot about the laws of Florida on fishing.thank you for letting me see the shrimps.

The staff were nice and friendly.
We ordered 2 dozens of live shrimp, and they gave us more than 3 dozens actually. Live Shrimp prices is the same as everywhere else.
The tackle prices are a little more than anywhere else, but you are on an expensive island so that's okay. Still it is just a little over, Not that much.

The place is easily accessible by car.

Great spot to get bait. Staff was very friendly and shrimp (got the frozen) were large size. Much bigger than other places I previously bought. Definitely recommend Whitney's if you're in that area.

Very nice tackle shop, with staff that Actually knows what to sell for certain types of fishing- basically that means they won't rip you off. They sell you the tackle you need, not just something to fill your tackle box. If they're out of live bait, ask their staff what else you can use and how to use it.they also have shirts here too. Some good salt of the earth people here at this place.

Nice and very convenient place to get some fishing going, a bit pricey but I guess you pay for the convenience, staff very friendly.

Out of 2 dozen live shrimp, only got 1 alive. Ripped me off while I wasn’t looking while the man was adding them to my bucket with bubbler.

Cool little fishing shop. Lots of fishing supplies and bait inside. Items are reasonably priced. Definitely a must stop if you like anything fishing.

The staff was very friendly real cool laid-back people they have the freshest bait in town and they have nice shirts too matter of fact I picked me up one definitely will go back there again
