Zaksee Florida Bird Sanctuary

I had to surrender my birds to this sanctuary in 2017 due to my living situation. I paid well over $500 for a cage for my two birds, a sun conure and a cockatiel, in 2017. I also said I would do the manual labor to build the cage, and would supply food and toys for my birds as well. Also said I would volunteer there to help out with the other birds. I was a student in college for engineering, working a full time minimum wage job - I had very little time or money but offered to do what I could. However, when I did visit to volunteer I was belittled at how little hours and little money I was able to contribute compared to others. Ridiculous. A few weeks later, there were 4 other much bigger birds in the cage that was supposed to be specifically for my birds only. My birds were terrified and bleeding due to getting bullied by the other birds. A hurricane was coming, and since no plan was in place, I decided to take my birds back. He accused me of stealing them from him! He complains constantly of having too many abandoned birds to take care of, but wouldn't give my birds back? I did end up sneaking my birds out the last time I volunteered, and they are now in a loving home with a retired couple that have more than enough space, time, and love for them. I want to believe in this sanctuary, I appreciate what Magic does, but I unfortunately had a horrible experience.

They are not easy to get ahold of. If you need to save a bird I recommend heading somewhere more reliable.

This guy is a fraud. Do not donate money. His birds are not taken care of.
