Red Light Cafe reviews
30Great neighborhood bar with friendly staff. Fun shows. Tonight saw a magic show. Mixed drinks not forte but reasonably priced. I enjoy the atmosphere and diversity.
It's a great time, but there are a couple of negatives: bring earplugs because the sound pressure is damaging (most especially if you think "it's not too loud", then definitely preserve what you have)
My main letdown is the menu. I know it's hard to run a kitchen but if we don't have time to get dinner before, the only palatable options (to me) are hummus or their fried cheese. Now, both of these are prepared well, so that saves from 3 stars.
Also saving from 3 stars is an outstandingly varied beer selection. They have more than just IPA. It's in bottles, but the great selection makes a couple IPAs on draft a non-criminal offense.
Overall, so long as I don't forget the earplugs, I know I'll enjoy the evening.
It was ok. Kind of a dumpy dive. Beer comes in Solo cups. Not an overly classy joint, at all. And, apparently they'll let any one on stage. They had some Momma Caz look alike up there, and I think she was trying to sing Led Zepplin, but she sounded like a bicycle tire with a leak. Or when you pinch the open end of a balloon and let the air out real slow. It was pretty awful. But, it got better, somewhat. Aside from the $9 solo cup beers that were a solid gulp short of full. But, if you're looking for a dark public hole to go get trashed in an everyone be game to let you keep going, this is the place. Just remember, there will probably be 4 or 5 dozen other people, or more, doing the same thing, and only 2 unisex toilets.
I love the Jazz Jams that happens every Wednesday night! The service is nice, parking is easy, and seating is plentiful for the event!
Very cozy nice place for intimate getaway Jazz comes right at you cuz it's up close and personal
A great place at which to play as a musician and burlesque performer, as well as being in the audience for shows.
Mediocre menu. Decent alcohol choices. Attentive, quick staff. Not that great of a venue. Always smells like disinfectant and an old mop. Could use a redesign.
I came here for a Jazz concert not too long ago and it was wonderful. The atmosphere is welcoming and appealing to the soul. Great lighting, good sound, good seating. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The ONLY complaint I have - and it has no bearing on the building itself or the talented musicians who play there - is the bar staff. The bartender who serviced us was short, rudely sarcastic, and impatient. We were new to the place and were asking questions about the menu, which had food and drinks. She seemed incredibly annoyed that we didn't know the menu as well as she did and exasperatingly snapped at us when we asked clarifying questions. She was the only stain on the experience, but everything else was amazing. I will definitely be returning to hear music and drink in the experience, but will choose to eat elsewhere before coming to avoid the bar. Overall, two thumbs way up!
Always a fun time at the burlesque shows, but eat before you get there- $6 for a small handful of chips and a small dish of salsa.
I've started attending the International Jazz Series here each 4th Friday. Such a cool, cozy space and atmosphere!
Love seeing the burlesque shows. I met one of my best friends for the first time at the bar there. It seems to attract quality people. ️
Girlz Nite Out- Taylah and Mommy
Had a ball as we drank carbonated Welch’s Grape Drink from a bottle. We listened to oldies but goodies, laughed with the instructor, chatted with the other patrons and painted. Great fun! We’ll definitely do it again, here!
Funny show with local comedians, cheap drinks and nice bartenders. The atmosphere is nice as well. Parking is limited and when we went, it smelled terrible. Overall three stars. I'd probably give it another chance
Great local place for live performances. Drinks are affordable too. Staff is friendly and it feels a bit like a classier local dive with great entertainers.
Drink and food menu limited. Kitchen is a really slow. But the bartenders are patient and kind.
Hilarious experience, but make sure you eat first because the kitchen is lacking. All they had was chili and "desserts" when we went.
Need more food selections and waitresses. The live music is awesome! The location is good - decent parking. The ambiance is perfect for an intimate night out of live music. Drinks made to perfection! 3 star because we had to go to restaurant down the hill, which wasn't planned because we'd checked the online food menu. None of it was served. Not good!
Wonderful! Nice comedians and the drinks wasnt expensive. Will def fo back.exceeded my expectations. Oh.liked the atmosphere
Good ambience and energy for a night space that features regular music events. Drinks are good, too.
Absolutely awesome time there with the burlesque group from Savannah Georgia. Beautiful, sexy, thought-provoking, and funny as hell!
