808 Surf School, Haleiwa HI

Our family had a great morning with Mike and Jerry. Our youngest daughter had never surfed before and they were able to get her up multiple times. Thanks guys!

We booked beginner's surf lessons, mikes brother Andy was our instructor. He looked after us well and catered the lesson perfectly to us (two adults plus a 10 & 13 year old). Communication was good and we couldn't have asked for more. They brought the lesson forward to 7am for the tide which was great and worked for us as we hadbetter waves, deeper water and then still had the whole day to explore afterwards. There was no pressure to change times, just suggested. All in all, very professional and chilled. We were all able to stand up and 'surf' to varying degrees within 30 minutes. Had we been in Hawaii longer we would have probably had more lessons. Mahalo!

I highly recommend 808 Surf School! Everything was an enjoyable and smooth experience from the initial questions, booking and lesson confirmations with Mike through the surf lesson with Hugo. They had a board that worked great for a big guy like me. Hugo was very friendly, encouraging, patient and helpful with answering questions I had about boards, local surfing spots to go on Oahu for beginners and any other general questions I had about surfing.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND 808 surf school! My brother and I had the greatest lessons surfing with Hugo! We tried a more established school before 808, but decided to take a lesson every day with Hugo at 808 instead because the experience was sooooo much better! He did an amazing job at catering to our varying skill sets. We felt super safe, learned a lot, caught waves, and most importantly had a blast with a genuine + nice instructor - this is your sign to choose 808

The owner, Mike, was so kind and responsive when coordinating when, where, etc. My instructor, Will, was equally kind and amazing to learn from - he was an incredible teacher and coach for my first time surfing. Highly highly recommend Mike’s team.
After a several runs, I got up on my own wave and we celebrated like crazy - so great - I’m now obsessed with surfing all thanks to the great experience 808 Surf School gave me. Mike and his crew are clear wave gurus.

Amazing place to learn how to surf! Mike made scheduling it super easy even though I called day of. His brother was my instructor and he was awesome. So nice and encouraging and a great teacher. I had a blast! Definitely recommend

Mike and Will were excellent with our group. Super friendly and full of helpful advice on both surfing and stuff to do on the island. I felt a lot of progress after our 2 hours were up. Definitely do this is you had any interest in learning to surf!

Hugo was our instructor for today! It was very last minute decision on my part but Mike was able to accommodate. Hugo was very thorough and patient. With just a couple of rides, I was already doing it on my own! Hugo was very specific with his instructions and corrected me when needed. Great experience and highly recommend! A+ Thanks Hugo for being a cool dude!
