Traditional sushi and soooo delicious! The rice is perfect, and all of the fish is beyond delicious. We definitely recommend the scallop butteryaki. The staff is all so kind and service is very timely. It's a small restaurant, so it's great for small personal parties or date-nights! Add this to your must visit when in the area!

Called at 6: 30pm on a Saturday night to make sure they have room for my wife and I before we start walking from kakaako. I ask if we can make reservations for 7: 15, I am informed for only two it’s walk-in. I say okay but do they have room now and more importantly is it likely there will be room when we get there. I was told plenty of room and shouldn’t be a problem. So my wife and I spend the next 40 mins walking straight there only to be stopped at the door because they have no room. I understand restaurants being busy on a Saturday night, but I find it unacceptable to give someone false belief there will be space that leads to a decision to walk multi miles.

Spicy tuna and salmon skin roll were good, just smaller than I expected. Agedashi tofu was a bit more bland than I'm used to. Butter scallops were good. I guess they were closing soon so the server came over to constantly take dishes away from our table which was kind of annoying. We were looking for a last minute place to eat, should've looked at the pictures more clearly. They have a lot of awards posted on the wall so try it out for yourself

The tables were taken. We left and went to our car and the owner came out and said if you like we can accommodate you in the back room but you need to sit on cushions at the low table. We accepted and had the best experience. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

This is can not be called as sushi restaurant. Quantity is terrible specially mackerel taste like daed thaw mackerel. 2 sushi combinations are different with the pictures. Serve with scallops instead of uni. Serve with tobiko instead of ikura. Definitely not worth that price. If you willing to waste your hundreds of dollars in this restaurant please do. For me, it’s better take $10-$20 poke from any Japanese market nearby. Horrible fish quality. The only good thing in this restaurant was sushi rice. I hope this sushi man can work at other restaurant. Way overpriced for every single menu. I have no idea that all that positive reviews from. The only possibility I can guess is new owner took over this 4.5 star sushi restaurant and it will be turned to 0 shortly.

I felt really bad. The owner recommended a very expensive menu, and the food came out late, so I went to eat happily, but it was really bad. I don't want to go to this restaurant again. And the parking lot is so bad that you can't see it well at night. A homeless man is on the street. This is a restaurant I would not recommend.

For our first time in Honolulu, we were looking for any type of restaurants / food and we found that one literally next to our accommodation, so we decided to go up there and what a surprise, the food was excellent, probably and for sure, the best sushi I’ve ever eaten in my whole life. Congrats to your chef! We’ll come back for sure. I did take the temaki and some rainbow sushi and what I can tell it was so fresh and so yum.

Came for dinner, the place wasn’t busy at all, as soon as the reception guy saw I had children, he said they had no table. Wouldn’t recommend visiting here if you have kids….

My partner and i love this Akasaka. It is our Fave Japanese Restaurant on the island. Quality of the food is beyond excellent. This Friday is SPECIAL i take my girlfriend there for her birthdayzzzzz? #thebestjapanese

Friendly service, Japanese ambiance; Sushi bar and kitchen are both excellent. Though there are many wonderful menu gems, my favorite from the sushi bar is the chirashi, a festive mix of premium sushi and vegetables on a bed of sushi rice. From the kitchen I recommend the teriyaki ahi: the king of fish, umami soy glazed with rice, traditional soup and daily sides. Open for lunch, dinner, and late-night.

Place is amazing, hands down. I make sure I go at least once per trip. Andy, our server, is extremely attentive and makes perfect recommendations. The scallop butteryaki and otoro are must haves. Its a small spot but definitely worth a visit.

Dont let the price rating scare you, i spent 50$ for myself and left fat and happy which is hard to do at any sushi place now a days.had assorted sushi and a tall beer.this place has the kind of sushi that flops and hangs over the small ball of rice.its high quality fish and super nice staff.you really can't go wrong here
