My husband and I visited Maui in December 2022 to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary, and we asked Nicole from Behind the Lens Maui to take some photos for us on the same beach where we got married. She was quick to respond and get everything set up for us. She did an amazing job-the pictures were beautiful! We would definitely recommend Behind the Lens if you are looking for a photographer in Maui.

My husband and I recently got married in Maui, and Sue from Behind the Lens Maui was our photographer for our small ceremony on the beach. From the start, she was friendly and professional. I normally don't enjoy having my picture taken, but Sue made me feel very comfortable, so that I could just enjoy the ceremony and not worry about how I looked. She had a lot of enthusiasm, and let me know that the shots were turning out beautifully. She never made me feel like we were being rushed, and she was willing to take shots that I suggested. We received the gallery quickly, after only about 6 days, and we were very happy with our pictures. We had originally paid for 80 photos, but quickly realized that we wouldn't be able to cut it down to 80 from all the wonderful pictures. Then we started working with Nicole, and she was also a pleasure to work with. She was very quick to respond to my emails and sent us the files to our pictures within a day of us sending her our final selections. Overall, we were extremely happy with the pictures and the service we received from Behind the Lens Maui, and we would recommend them without hesitation.

Nicole was AMAZING! My husband and I traveled from South Carolina to Maui for our wedding/honeymoon. She literally handled everything for me. Her communication was on point! Any question I had, answered. Any pose I wanted to incorporate, done! I couldn't have asked for a better photographer! She even picked me up from hair and makeup (that she recommended and was great!) to drive me to the ceremony. She was kind enough to get our leis for our ceremony too. I could not recommend a better photographer that will make your day perfect!

We first met Nicole over 15 years ago and she took our first family photos and have every time we go there as a family. The photos are amazing and highly recommend anyone wanting a special moment to be captured during their time on the island!

Nicole was fabulous! She knew the cutest little beach for our wedding and was so accommodating to my husband and I. She gave us perfect directions which helped because we were clueless lol. Nicole did outstanding work for our last minute elopement in Maui in November. The photos turned out amazing and we absolutely loved working with her. Nicole was always quick to respond to our emails or texts and incredibly easy going to work with. She arranged an officiant (extra fee) who did a stellar job with our ceremony. When Nicole noticed last-minute the beach we picked had 6 other weddings at the same time, she helped us transition to another nearby location (Makena Surf), which was absolutely perfect and magical. If you aren’t sure what beach you want to get married on, 100% recommend Makena Surf. Easy beach access, quiet, and beautiful details for your photos. Before our big day, Nicole asked us to organize photos we liked the style of onto Pinterest and she did a great job leveraging those shots for us. She did a good job directing us as she took our photos and took photos we’ll be proud to look back on for the rest of our lives. Thanks again for helping make our big day special, Nicole!

I could not rave enough about Nicole at BTLM she is incredible to work with! Having answered all of my questions regarding the best beaches to get married on while analyzing my group of people and everything else was amazing. Once she got us to the venue after getting a bit turned around, she put our nerves at rest and got right to directing us where we needed to be and how we could get the best shots.

Nicole was amazing! We just loved her and we got out pictures fast and every single one was absolutely beautiful! She’s easy going and had us smiling the entire time!

I know Maui very well, it's culture and people, because I have a second home here. I called my good friend who is a minister and performs weddings almost daily and he strongly recommended that I contact Nicole to do the photography for our daughter's special day. I was so happy with this choice! Nicole was very communicative and warm throughout. Her prices are very reasonable but more importantly, she knows that a wedding can't be done over again and there is one chance to capture in photography a beautiful event that reflects the personality of the bride and groom and those attending. She works hard to understand who they are to make the photos express this. She was there early, efficiently snapping photos all the while organizing the people chaos so as not to miss a single person. Nicole understood the fickleness of Maui's sunsets and how best to use the light of that particular evening.

Nicole was extremely detail-oriented with a huge focus on learning exactly what I wanted so that she could capture the perfect shots from my wedding. She uploads everything to an album online so you can browse and choose your favorites at your leisure and her pricing was extremely competitive. Thank you for making our special day even more special Nicole!

Nicole was great! She did an awesome job meeting our requests and making time for the different ideas we had for our wedding beach photo shoot. I truly love the moments she captured and would definitely recommend her! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because I would have appreciated a little more direction in certain poses. There were some pictures I looked hunched over or had a weird stance and I would have loved for her to tell me a little adjustment to do. I am not the best at getting my picture taken so I probably should have asked for her to be a little more direct at correcting something I was doing that looked funny. Overall it was a great experience and I'm really glad we invested in these high quality photos.
