Great beach, Air force guys are really cool but be careful of this Marine veteran that guards the front gate. He can be a real jerk. He was supposed to be guarding his post but instead was inside his vehicle and chases you down, honking at you for your "DOD" card (which you don't need if you're in a different status). I told him he should've been at his post and told him if he really wants to do his job, go hunt down the guy in front me who also ran the gate that was unmanned.

They cancel my campsite only one day before my arrival. How can I find hotels on Oahu one day before arrival? Only $$$ rooms left. Very irresponsible and ridiculous.

This is one of my favorite places to camp. We've been coming here for at least 3 years and have had friends join us with their kids. It's absolutely fantastic. Personally my favorite spots, are the ones towards the back away from the beach. You have tons of privacy and space all to yourself. Snagging a spot around 6-8 or 11-13 is awesome, because you are right by the bathrooms and showers. They take the trash out daily and you have your own huge trash can at every site. It's only $32 to camp there (total) for the entire weekend and you can drive on the land and park by your campsite. There is space at every site for multiple vehicles and tents plus canopies and whatever else you want to bring. Depending on the season, it can get windy at night, so bring pants and a hoodie just in case and use good stakes on all your gear. Definitely bring a small hand soap. They don't stock that in the bathrooms. It's a great place for kids. People do make small fires at night that are controlled and they bring dogs, but they keep all that low key and practice safety and are responsible and respectful about it. Night time on the beach is incredible. You can catch TONS of big and small crabs if you're fast enough. All around, our favorite place to camp often. I highly recommend this place.

My family and I have camped here about 4 times. We never had a problem with noise or partying what so ever. The showers are spacious but due to Covid they rarely cleaned the bathrooms. Stayed here during Fourth of July and the guy who cleans would just pile the trash and leave it. Which sucked because you had to walk past it to get to your car. And the bathrooms were so gross we brought our own toilet. Either than that the one time this has been one of our favorite campsites.

Beautiful spot to watch the waves and read a good book. Our son enjoyed the surf. I find this stretch to be very windy, but enjoyable today!

The staff are wonderful! With that established, I rated 4 stars because the shower/bath houses really need some TLC with tightening and replacing of old fixtures and figuring out why the drains are not working. The women’s large shower house in particular, floods the entire floor making camping very hard to clean up and stay dry. All that said, the site is amazing and a real gem - I wouldn’t choose to “rough it” (aka camp) any other place on the island.
