Big Wave Dave at Surf & Coffee, Honolulu HI

I signed up for a 1-on-1 surf lesson. My instructor was Raye. Not enough words to describe her: phenomenal, fabulous, patient, kind, extraordinary. We started out with the basics on land, then paddled our hearts out to get past the reef below us and get to the waves. Her main goal: stay relaxed and just have fun. Which wasn’t hard! Thank you so much Raye!

Fantastic business! I signed up for the 1 on 1 surf lesson and loved every minute of it. Paul was my teacher and because of him, if I could rate 6 stars, I would! If you're down to send it and experience surfing, give these guys a call and do the 1 on 1 lesson! Thanks for making my trip awesome! Nothing but the best to these guys!

Poor service —- actually I might say really we got a no care attitude server by the waitress. Sad, we were there to really have a nice time. Naan n falafel was so so; nowhere close to the mark. I can go on…. It’s ok. We will enjoy else where Monkeypod here we come.

Went for my morning dark chocolate mocha, very delicious. Service was great and the servers very friendly. Definitely going back.

Our kids did surf lessons with Lloyd, he was great! The kids felt like they learned a lot and got up on their boards a few times! He was friendly and helpful and would highly recommend! The online booking process was simple and everyone at the surf shop and coffee shop was kind and helpful!

While in Hawaii we utilised @Big Wave Dave’s several times.

1. We hired two surf boards for a full week. Ivy allowed us to swap surf boards pending the conditions and also allowed us to use Boogie Boards when travelling around the Island.

2. Coffee and snacks. A good range, average prices. I’m a coffee snob, so the coffee was ok.

Make a reservation at 8: 30 and learn indoors for about 30 minutes? After that. I've never been able to stand on a board when I go out to sea. I was lazy on the board the whole time as I was going to the deep end, and the wind blew so suddenly they told me to get out and I thought they could cancel, but they said they wouldn't give me a refund. Are there any cases like this?

We did a surfing lesson via Viator. Paulie was our instructor. He was so patient and excited to work with our group. Great instructor and great guy. Both myself and my daughter stood up on our first wave! Would highly recommend. I will also say that our interaction with their entire BWD team was great. ️️️️️

We used Big Dave Wave services for their outrigger tour. This was such an amazing experience with John Paul, our tour guide. The water was so clear, we could see the reefs, turtles, and many fish. And, the waves were the best for our ride. If you want to experience the waves on an outrigger, ask for John Paul!

Great espresso, stayed at a hotel nearby and got late here all the time.very good service.

We did canoe surfing with John Paul and it was amazing! Not only did we catch a ton of waves but he had great stories and interesting facts about Oahu. 10/10 would go again.

Excellent Kona Coffee! Walk here for house coffee and other local options instead of the chains! So good!

Our teenage son and daughter signed up for the surfing lessons and had a good time. The staff was very helpful accommodating our busy schedule and our experiences was great.

Would not recommend the private surf lessons.
Surf conditions were far from ideal.
We spent 40 mins paddling on the water trying to find a suitable location to catch some waves. The instructor said we would stay out longer to make up for the time lost paddling, but he still brought us in 10 mins early.
I emailed the business regarding the underwhelming experience, but I’m yet to hear back!

This açai is tastes very good.
It has the bee pollen and coconut fine in it.
I like it!

Did the outrigger canoe ride with the family. Great fun. Cody and JP were the crew leads. Once the boat caught a wave, it was an exhilarating and wet ride in. I think people of nearly any physical ability can do it. We got in 4 rides in under 30 minutes.

Great place to get morning coffee!

Staying at the Embassy Suites and Big Wave Dave is allocated right next to the Hula tower elevators.

I got the medium white mocha. It tastes great. But be aware the “medium” size isn’t the same size that I’m used to but…the coffee taste makes up for it.

I would recommend coming here!

This was so fun! Just so you know, this is the Outrigger experience. Thank you John Paul and Corey! Loved catching the waves! Sorry we missed your email inviting us back. Would do this over and over. If this is on your bucket list or not, book with them. You won't be sorry! I wish I had a Go Pro. I was too nervous with my phone. Still the experience was unforgettable.

We went on an outrigger ride. Great weather and good wave conditions. We caught several waves and had a great experience with captain JP.
