Budget Car Rental, Lahaina HI

Very bad experience with the Avis car rental service in Lahaina Maui. I booked a Camry like car for 9: 00am and I arrived at 8: 30am. They requested us to wait until 9: 00am to pick up and offered us a Dodge Charger. When I asked them to change a Japanese car and they refused. I don’t understand what is reason behind it.

If you are a Fastbreak user with Budget it is the fastest way to get a car rental. Budget has never let me down and I am so appreciative of their service. All in all the best I’ve ever had. Thank you to all the people in Maui for great service. Mahalo

Great place to rent a car if you're staying in Kaanapali and don't want to deal with the craziness of renting at the airport! I was able to walk here from my hotel (Royal Lahaina Resort) which is one of many hotels in walking distance of here. Lei was really sweet! They have great taste in movies, particularly James Bond! I rented a small Kia which had a very minor issue the day after I rented (turns out something got stuck between the wheel and the chassis and it came loose once I parked and reversed) and they said "bring the car to us & we'll have you do a test drive with one of our employees and if the problem comes back, we will replace your vehicle for free". Turns out the problem was nothing but that's still really cool of them to offer! 5/5 stars I'll definitely rent from them again one day! Mahalo!

Had an easy pick up and drop off experience, car worked fine and was in good shape and very clean, girl at drop off was quite rude but all in all very good experience

Could not add a 3rd driver to the van. They wanted us to cancel the rental and then re rent it for over $500.

Rented a car from this location as part of family's personal shore excursion from the cruise ship. Rented for a few hours and everything went smooth. Arrived with one person ahead of me and was on our way in less than 10 minutes. Staff was pleasant to talk to and even said, "Welcome back, " after a couple hours of sightseeing. Would not hesitate to use this location again. Mahalo!

Great place, very friendly and awesome staff. Not sure of the gentleman's name that I believe maintains the vehicles, but he was super friendly and helpful. Gave us some recommendations and we did everything he recommended and it really made our whole trip that much more amazing! Thankful for him!

This location only runs from 8am to 5pm. It doesn't have after hour drop off service, so if you've to return after 5pm you'd get charged a full day's fee of rental plus some extension fee. Its ridiculous they don't offer key drop off service for after hours, even if you get the insurance through them. Car drop off is nothing but parking the car in their premises and dropping off the keys. This shouldn't be limited to 5pm to make extra money out of travelers. Also the staff were not flexible at all. Would not recommend this location, better to do it from the airport.

We rented a Ford Mustang Convertable from Budget and as we were loading our suitcases into the car another couple came up and said it was their car. An argument ensued as our paperwork had the same license plate as theirs. I told them to take it and I went to an employee that was nearby and he offered a KIA. I said no way. He then gave me a Dodge Charger. No convertible. Driving around Maui and the Road to Hana without the convertible was not ideal.

Be carefull! What they tell you on the phone and what is on the lot are two different things. Two, they will charge you extra at the end of the trip, after you have a final bill.

Located near our hotel, we were in and out with a car so fast; like 10mins. They were amazing and I dropped off car at the airport and bill came in cheaper than they said even; That never happens. A car is a must have in Maui to see the other side of the island. We rented for 2 days and so worth it.

Budget provided an excellent car for a good price. Check in and drop off were both quick and efficient. Would highly recommend.

The Avis staff in Maui at Kahului (OGG) Airport was amazing from start to finish on both rentals we had for 3 months. Best overall staff I’ve ever dealt with in the industry. Professional, great communication, solution driven, from the management to the rental counters. Thanks to Ryan, Kai and all the staff at Avis Maui!

This is for the Avis counter. Easiest car rental experience I have ever had. We were checked in and on our way in less than 5 minutes. The car we rented was well maintained and clean. Took us to Hana and back. Checking back in took all of 5 minutes even without the app. They are right across from the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, and you can walk from as far as the Royal Lahaina if so inclined. Would rent again in a heartbeat.

Dumpy location but convenient. Service good and quick both picking up and returning. In and out in 10 minutes both times.

My daughter and I vacationed in Maui in May. I planned for a rental at Avis of a SUV. They did not have the jeep I confirmed in early April, and again in early May; right before we flew to Maui. They gave me a huge SUV to drive. Gas is $5.57a gallon and this vehicle cost a great deal to run and use on the island.

The employees were rude and dismissive of me as a customer.
I overheard them speak with other customers and the same proved true. They are rude and nasty to all who came to the counter.
I will never use Avis again. Avis is connected to budget and a few other car rental units. Do your homework and stay far away from this unit and its associated car rental establishments.
