Coconut's Fish Cafe reviews
17Order taken at counter and waitress asked each group if it was their 1st time there. It was for most that I overheard, so not sure if the place is new or just reopening. Fried shrimp were good, chips were shoestring fries -very crispy. My friend ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings. Tasted burger which was delicious and ate a lot of the onion rings as I did not like the chips. Was a basic place and just what I needed at that point.
Great food and fresh, generous portions. Always a must go to for us here in Kihei. Order taker, hostess rude and not consistent with Covid protocol. To many rules and signs that say don’t due this. Not as friendly as it was prior to Covid.
We had the Mahi Mahi and Ono rice plates and both fishes were so overcooked they were like a dense rubber brick. There was a little bit of shredded taco cheese on a crunchy unripe tomato as the salad. The slaw was pretty good. Overall a less than mediocre meal.
Amazing fish tacos. They come in pairs, have flaky fish that’s a little spicy with a mango salsa and cheese. Perfect combination for a delicious dinner.
We were staying in Kihei for a portion of our honeymoon and noticed online this is a must go to. We ended up going after a full day of activities, got there around 730-8pm. The line was going real quick seating inside and outside available. I was craving some Coconut shrimp as that is their number one item sold, but sadly was sold out. The cashier was really helpful and convinced me to get the calamari while the wife got the fish tacos. And Wow! Best calamari I have had, it was super tender not chewy and very flavorful. The wife’s tacos were amazing 2 different fish bursting with flavor. We can’t wait to come back to island to have this amazing food again!
All the fine dining restaurants were booked so we decided to try takeout from here and boy are we glad we did! The mixed green salad was amazing and the seafood pasta was to die for.
Definitely will be back!
Very quick and friendly service.
The only thing that I thought would make it better, would be to offer a side with the sandwiches like chips, fries or a some type of salad. It was priced the same as other restaurants where most often your meal comes with a side.
My sandwich was delicious though, just lonely
2 stars is better than 1. Fish tacos ordered by wife and I. Neither of us were remotely impressed. No refills on fountain drinks, REALLY? Tacos were well overpriced…. Won’t be recommending this place to anyone!
The sea chowder wasn’t bad. It was a little salty but it was otherwise okay. My initial thought when I bit into the fish tacos was “Wow. This is good”. Then the more I ate it the more I realize that I was only tasting the mango pico de gallo and the coconut coleslaw. I was tasting the fish at all. Also the South of the Border salsa is completely wrong for this fish taco. The flavors are complete opposite of the taco itself. In fact I feel the sweet chili sauce for the pork taco suites this fish taco and vice versa. Whereas there was no flavor with the fish the opposite was true for the pork taco. It had a lot of flavor and was my favorite taco. Overall, decent tacos and generous portions with good service.
This little place in Kihei is great! We tried their coconut shrimp, fish tacos, and fish & chips which are their top sellers. This place was recommended by a friend, and it did not disappoint. I like how they use a combo of ono and Mahi Mahi in the fish dishes. The combo really works well together. Nice job, Coconuts!
Was a little hesitant because the place was so hyped so I had low expectations, but damn the fish tacos were so good, and filling that I couldn't eat my side of cole slaw. GF raved about her mahi mahi salad and she doesnt get too excited by fish anything. Solid meal!
Still the same 7 layer tacos I will always remember snd crave. I've been going to this location for years.
I almost always never have complaints about service either, do to fantasticness.
Recommend even if they're having an off service day.
The literal definition for cafeteria food.
Food was disgusting. Made me almost vomit. The calamari was rubbery and everything was frozen. The teriyaki chicken were overrides leather covered fries. Not only that but get this, they use unmelted shredded cheese on our burger and a tomato. The onion rings were soggy and the chowder had some kind of rubbery frozen fish and had a weird taste to it. The only thing good here was the service. The waiters and cashier were very kind. Don't waste your money and time here.
Fish tacos…always delish here! The cabbage and sauce are perfection. The blackened mahi was good too. Friendly staff and consistently good food at a good price.
The food was pretty good and we have had great service until the day we left. I went to use the restroom and this young employee referred to me as sweetie when telling me I couldn’t use the bathroom. We had eaten there so many times there in our 1 week stay.
Sadly, it was not what it used to be. The fish was overcooked to point that it was dry and tasteless. The tacos could have been better.good fruit mixture with fish, but too much sauce that tasted like Miracle Whip (probably to counter the overcooked dry fish.) We had Maui Fish and Chips a couple of nights ago and THAT was good fish. This was not.
I had the seafood pasta which was good but extremely fishy. My husband had the fish & chips and really enjoyed that.
