Dole Plantation reviews
16The soft serve pineapple ice cream with a topping of pineapple tidbits is a must try; being served out of a food truck (credit cards only) is a plus.
If you come to Hawaii, please go there.
There are a lot of people. Still, pineapple is delicious. Be sure to eat ice cream
Enjoyed the world’s biggest pineapple maze, it was so much fun. We skipped the train ride due to long waiting times. The garden was pretty with several pineapples in various phases of growth. There souvenir store was so much fun too! Loved the Ohia lehua honey we bought from here. Must visit when you drive south from Oahu’s north shore!
The Dole whips are fresh. Nice place to stop ad relax. We did not have enough time to do the train tour.
A place that sounds like a passing lounge!
Pineapple ice cream is so delicious!
Visited the souvenir shop and stopped by the bathroom:)
Come here for the dole whip but no need to spend extra $$ for the plantation visit read other reviews but we didn’t feel it’s worth it. A good stop when going up north shore or coming down. The area is nice and we caught a rainbow on our drive too.
Mostly like a tourist attraction. Only gift store is free… it is overall just a garden, the pineapple plantation are in the other side of the street.
The Dole Whip is not that great, way too sweet.
Super touristy, but why not? ! Fun way to spend an afternoon, train and grounds aren't pricey but expect to drop a lot of money in the gift shop where you can find Pineapple anything!
If you don't like trains I wouldn't even bother coming, the train is where you get the history and see the fields.
My toddler loved feeding the fish which was sort of a surprise discovery, I didn't expect there to be a fish pond. Bring Quarters!
Tourist trap, valid if you have children.
They sell the labyrinth as the biggest in the world but it isn't.
Free parking,
Nice that they don’t charge an entry fee or for parking, so you can choose to pay for only the attractions you’d like to see. There’s also a great farmer’s market shop with lots of souvenirs and handmade goods for sale outside in the plaza.
One of the must visit place for tourists. Lots of souvenirs to buy. There is a staff teaching you how to choose pineapples, grow pineapples, and cut pineapples.
Were on the way back from North Shore to Honolulu. You should stop here. There is a lot to learn about pineapples.
They don't grow on trees but on the ground.
Entry is free, you only have to pay if you want to take the train or go into the labyrinth, for example.
But we ate some ice cream.
There are also all sorts of things to buy.
This is a special place for us and I love stopping here. My it has changed in 20 years. We did the maze together and it was fun for adults. Maybe not for small kids. Enjoyed our Dole Whip and always enjoy the gardens.
Rudy/Randy was an amazing tour guide. Kept you engaged and very knowledgeable about the Pinneapple history. I will forever look at pinneapple differently when I am in the grocery store.
Great way to spend the morning! Plan to arrive when they open to avoid waiting for the train. Friendly guest services, lovely gardens & enjoyable train ride. Fantastic gift shop with multiple vendors.
We made a stop at the Dole Plantation primarily for one delicious reason – to savor the famous Dole whip. But while the treat was good, our overall experience was a mixed bag.
The Dole Plantation boasts a spacious parking lot, making it convenient for visitors. They also offer various tours for those interested, though we opted to skip those as it didn’t pique our curiosity.
Now, about that Dole Whip – it was absolutely delicious, especially when enjoyed in a souvenir cup. It’s a must-try!
However, our visit didn’t earn a full five stars due to a couple of inconveniences. Firstly, the Dole Plantation seemed understaffed during our visit. There were several unused cashier stations, resulting in long lines at the limited open ones. This made the whole experience less enjoyable, especially when you factor in the other unique experiences that you could be doing while you’re waiting.
Additionally, there was a lack of organization when it came to lines. Having a dedicated line for Dole Whip and a separate line for other food items could significantly improve the efficiency of service.
Lastly, the gift shop had some interesting items, but the extensive lines deterred us from making any purchases.
In summary, the Dole Whip was good but not great, be prepared for potentially long lines and consider visiting during a less crowded time if possible.
