Dr. James P. Urban, Kahului HI

About a month ago, I came to see Dr. Urban due to lower back pain. I had difficulty walking and experienced tightness in my thighs and back. He advised me to take an X-ray and with a couple of adjustments to my Vertebrae 4, sacrum, and hip, I'm now back to 100%. Dr. Urban was very patient, highly professional, and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend anyone having any back problems or schiatic issues to see him. Thanks very much.

I am glad to have found Dr. Urban while being on Maui for 6 months. He had great reviews so that helped me find a good chiropractor. I need monthly maintenance while I am on island, and he also adjusts my collapsed metatarsals on my feet so I can keep hiking. Good, central location in Kahului. I recommend him for sure!

Dr. Urban is legit the answer to my prayers! I was scheduled by my Kaiser doctor for a surgery due to having a pinch nerve on the back of my neck from sports. I was looking for a second option online and came across Dr. Urban and boy I was so blessed because he adjusted my spine without surgery. I was told by my doctor, once you touch the disc on your spine, there would be another in a few years and onward, that’s why I searched for another option for my pinch nerve because I don’t want that. This is my honest review and I feel great after seeing Dr. Urban and I bet you will too! Thank you Dr. Urban and thank you Lord for blessing him with this knowledge!

Highly recommend Dr. Urban. I was experiencing really bad migraines and after getting an adjustment I felt instant relief. Best chiro in town.

Dr. Urban is really knowledgeable & very professional. He gathers all the information & history of your musculoskeletal issues, reviews a total spine x-ray, identifies where problems are present. Begins treatment for specific areas to begin to alleviate the problem (s).

I had terrible pain in my lower back. I had a hard time walking. I didn't think I would be able to go on a trip to japan. My wife and daughter was being treated by Dr. Urban and recommended him. After couple of sessions I'm standing upright and walking again. I do regular maintenance and Dr. Urban got rid of my headaches and dizzyness.
Sitting in the waiting room I hear a lot of good comments from other patients. I highly recommend Dr. Urban.

Began seeing Dr. Urban 2 years ago, while still upcountry. I've been a competitive athlete my entire life, so have been using chiropractic since early 80's, kept me going and often was the difference in the ability to keep training and often just to exist!

He used to spend time doing some point massage and pressure points and even using heating pads before adjustments.

I now run a horse farm and cycle 120 miles /week, play a lot of competitive tennis and still run track. Work & play often take their toll. At one point 2 years ago, I came off my horse and hard a hard time even moving for 2 weeks. Found Dr. Urban through a referral and after 1st visit, was significantly improved, after 4 visits, was back to normal (for better or for worse). I've had numerous visits off and on as I've had different injuries. Always had decent results, but was always a bit put off about having to point out areas for him to check out and follow up on. Always felt he should have been a bit more proactive and thorough.

For the last several visits I had to again remind him to take a look at it certain areas on my body and address specific pains rather than him being more proactive and finding ways to help me heal better. And the massage, pressure points and heating pads are long gone.

And on a recent visit I was presented with some crazy conspiracy theory literature about the "dangers" of wearing a mask. The author is a known conspiracy theorist, and the attitude of a supposedly holistic focused chiropractor about wearing masks was a bit disappointing in shocking in general. But despite being super fit and athletic I am in my early 60s and a stroke survivor and have a heart condition so I was a bit surprised and disappointed.

Won't be going back and will be looking for a more proactive and reality-based chiropractor.

I went to Dr. Urban for a spinal adjustment, back pain, neck pain, and migraines. After a few sessions, I feel close to a 100% myself again. I recommend Dr. Urban for anyone who is experiencing any of the same problems I had, whether it is minor or major. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and will try any alternatives before suggesting surgery. I will definitely be a long term patient of his!

Dr. Urban is the chiropractor you need to go see for an adjustment.seriously! If you're looking for a thorough and careful treatment of your spine, he's the one. From your first initial visit, you'll already feel like you don't need to waste your time with anyone else. He has you get X-rays and reviews them with you, shows you on the spine models of what your spine is doing and what it's supposed to look like. I have been carrying this back pain for years thinking it just needs to get massaged out, but it never worked. I finally told my doctor about the back pain and he recommended chiropractic treatment for a month and referred me to a different doctor. From that first initial visit, I knew I had to find someone else. I had been watching YouTube videos and found a doctor using the Gonstead system which isn't just feeling your spine and cracking whatever. I knew I wanted to see a Doctor who uses the Gonstead system to properly treat your back and that's where I found Dr. Urban. He's the only one on island who practices the Gonstead system and has different types of "beds" to use to get the proper adjustment. On top of all of this, he's a really nice, personable guy. Go see him!

In summary: Shoulder issues related to dislocation, expert level diagnostic and treatment. Highly recommended for athletic people.

I have struggled with a dislocated shoulder in my distant past for a long, long time. It has been better for years but a few days ago I tweaked it surfing and then the next day I lost most of my range of motion and it just felt like if I did anything wrong it would get worse. I searched every single place I could find and finally decided to try Dr. Urban first. I am a really active person and I don't like being forced out of the activities that I love doing and he was able to see me that day. I show up and he talks with me and used some interesting diagnostic tools and then he sent me to get x-rays of my spine - I ask him "should I get my shoulder too? " He said no and I was baffled but he is the doc. I go get the x-rays across the street and come back and he shows me on the x-ray how my spine was curved, or twisted slightly and he suspected this was causing my issue. Only after this extensive diagnostic did he begin to adjust me.

I stood up and moved my shoulder around AND I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I felt like singing, instant improvement! He then tried adjusting my shoulder but that seemed to make it go back to how it was, which was shocking to me. I set up an appointment to see him the next day and he does the spine adjustment again and its like magic - instant relief and return of motion. This time he didn't mess with the shoulder and its been several hours and I can tell I am well on my way to recovery! I plan on going back at least a few more times to make sure my spine is getting untwisted and I will be back in the water much sooner than I expected. Easy to recommend!
