Ellie Girl Poke reviews
17The owner was very nice and provided great recommendations to what may suit my taste more. The food was delicious! Would love to come again.
Did not disappoint! Great value poke, amazingly fresh and service was outstanding. I did not even know I wanted a sample until I was offered it, and tried something new. Will definitely be back! Mahalo!
I was excited to try their poke and was going to bring some home for the family.
I asked the girl behind the counter if they were out of spicy ahi. She told me that there was no more tonight. I understood, so I bought a small container of another kind.
As I finished paying, another woman walked in and asked the same thing about the spicy ahi. The same girl tells her that they will make some more for her order.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.the girl behind the counter looked up to see if I had heard her offer to make more for the other customer, but I avoided eye contact. I had heard enough, I will not be back.
The food was quite good. I felt unwelcome by the person who was putting my food together behind the counter. I didn’t want to go back next time I was in Hilo because of that, unfortunately. I hope others have a better experience there to compliment the good food.
The staff was really friendly! Portion sizes and pricing is fair. Poke was cut into decently large pieces that were a bit fishy to chew on. If they just cut them a little smaller, or made sure the fish was separated once cut, this place would be excellent!
Stopped in for the first time today, my main objective was to find a poke shop in Hilo that is comparable to Umekes in Kona. Overall I was pleased. They seem to provide a good balance between the traditional style of poke and the new aged style of poke. Very creative with their recipes. Pricing is extremely fair. I got the three choice poke bowl and a giant 1lb container of dried ahi all together for $35. That was a great deal. I had the Cali roll, mixed plate and mahi mahi ceviche. All were good. Really appreciated the opihi in the mixed plate. My only critique is that the size of the Cali roll poke was substantially smaller than normal sized poke. It was still my favorite out of the three though. I liked their spin on the imitation crab salad, I could eat that side by it’s self. I’ll definitely be a return customer. Umekes and The Poke Shack in Kona, hands down serve the best poke on the island. Ellie Girl is a good substitute for them when on the Hilo side. Same fresh quality. If they made an avo poke, I’d go every day.
This place has awsome selection of great poke.the products are freshly made right there on the spot! Come on down everyone to Ellie’s, trust me when I say you won’t be disappointed.
Stay away! The worst poke i have ever tried! Even one star is too much for this place. Fish wasnt fresh and was way too salty (pbbly it was marinating for a while). The girl behind the counter was nice and sweet. But food is absolutely disgusting. Im wasnt sure if it is safe to eat so i threw mine away.
I got the spicy mayo ahi, the Hawaiian, and I think the traditional ahi. It was delicious! The seaweed was also really good. Loved this place.
This place is a tucked away but not to be missed! Super friendly staff will walk you through picking your perfect poke plate.
I'm confused by the positive reviews tbh- I got the worst poke bowl of my life here- the rice was mush, and the poke was slimy and poorly seasoned. Absolutely inedible, and it was expensive- I will not be back
I needed a poke platter for a dinner party and they were able to make it with short notice. Guests were super impressed with the quality.
I also like that the fish is fresh and sourced locally.
Delicious, fresh poke with great options. Love the ono poke and all the sides. So happy they opened a brick and mortar location!
Best poke in Hilo! Super fresh fish and lots of great new flavors frequently appearing in the shop! My favorite is the cold ginger.
Best poke hilo side! Good price!
I no longer have to go kona to get the freshest fish from my favorite poke place
My spicy ahi bowl with the Kim chi cucumber was delicious. Perfect price point for me too. Service was also great.the girls were very helpful and really nice. We will be back!
