Fairmont Orchid - Hawaii

I worked with Andrew at Maunakea beach resort previously and met him at the pool where he works now. Was an exceptional worker and carries that same energy here.

We got here this afternoon and decided to sit on the grass by the ocean. Our server Andrew was one of the best servers that we’ve ever had. He was attentive and came by about every 15 minutes and anticipated our needs. He was pleasant and a joy to be served by Kudos to Andrew.

As soon as you step foot here, the staff and environment make it so relaxing and welcoming. My boyfriend and I had the best week ever staying here. The rooms were spacious, clean and the hotel had all amenities available for us as needed (toothbrushes and razors upon request too). The bathroom was spacious and hot water and robes were great. The entire beach and pool area was gorgeous and so relaxing, staff walked around offering cold towels, fruit and drink service. There were so many options for chairs and quiet areas. The snorkelling in the bay was fantastic and I highly recommend! The staff in the entire resort, especially at the front desk, were amazingly welcoming and friendly.
I also highly recommend grabbing food from Brown’s deli during the daytime as they have plenty of more affordable options.

We stayed at Fairmont Orchid for a 4-day getaway and it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Here are some facts during our stay:
1. Upon check-in, the receptionist forgot to activate our room key, so we stood in the hallway that doesn’t have AC with our backpacks for 15 minutes before someone came to open the door

2. We stepped on someone’s vomit in the lobby elevator. We had to wash our shoes and call the front desk to report it

3. We tried taking a shower at 10pm after a swim, but no hot water at all. Called the front desk, and was told there’s a scheduled fixing so no hot water for the entire tower. Absolutely horrible, no prior notice to guests at all. I had to wait half an hour in wet swimsuit to take my shower

We have visited Hawaii many times and this has by far been the worst hotel experience. Hard to believe this is 5-star hotel under Fairmont brand.

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 6 nights and honestly wished we booked more. The hotel is absolutely amazing from start to finish. Massive shoutout to the guys and girls at the front desk, they provided friendly and courteous service from the get go and really started our holiday off on the right foot. The rooms itself were nice and spacious and the beds were ridiculously comfy; the bathrooms were modern with dual sinks and a nice shower and tub. The service by the pool/beach is great, with attendants approaching us to offer drinks, pineapples and cold towels for us, that was a really nice touch. The pool area was quite crowded with families with kids during our stay (I think it had something to do with the conference that was on) however we moved to the beach and found it peaceful enough. The beach shack offered snorkels and complimentary reef safe sunscreen; the lagoon that is part of the resort was mostly choppy for our stay but on the last day it cleared up and provided some unreal snorkelling which was the perfect way to end our trip! I wish it was that clear more during our stay. We will definitely be back!

So many wonderful things to say about Fairmont Hawai’i: beautiful, clean, great staff, and relaxing. I spent a week here in the deluxe oceanfront room towards the end of September and never left the resort; everything I wanted to do was right on the hotel grounds. Thank you to all staff for what you do - I look forward to coming back:)

Everything was fantastic! The food and drink prices were on par with resort pricing. There's plenty to eat and drank within easy driving distance if you're on a budget.

We stayed at Orchid after changing Maui plans…and had a wonderful time. By far the high point was the staff: so friendly and relaxed, yet professional. The property was great and the location a perfect home base for exploring the Island. Highly recommend this resort.

Stay somewhere else! I am a diamond member with accor for 5 years. This hotel is probably one of the worst in their portfolio. On my 2nd night the at about midnight my ac started belting out hot air. I couldnt sleep at all. I called the front desk and they sent someone who couldn't fix the a/c until morning because he didn't want to wake other customers with banging. I couldn't go back to sleep. In the morning I spoke with the hotel manager and he said he was going to comp my (overpriced ~$500) massage. I said that I thought the appropriate way to deal with this would be comping the room since we didn't sleep. He unfortunately stated that he could not because I booked through accor corporate on the regularly available discount rate (almost $1500/not). They also have a horrible breakfast buffet (~$50) and nickel and dime everything onsite.

Better choose a different hotel. I'd recommend the rosewood as they are much more centrally located and way better management.

Service and employee professionalism was superior throughout my week long stay. It was magical and more than compensated for the few flaws. I might add, great resort for a solo traveler. I met so many wonderful fellow travelers during my stay. I believe this is due in part to the atmosphere created by the resort. Moreover, I never felt sidelined as a solo traveler often does. Overall, besides several issues with communication with Service Staff, it was an amazing stay.

Third floor in the North side of the hotel, great view of the golf course while still getting a really nice rate for the stay.

Room Service Food was mediocre at best, but it's also not their prime staples. The restaurants were much better, though I still felt like the cost versus the value was lacking.

Front desk was willing to 'gift' a bottle of prosecco for this being my first time in Hawai'i, however it didn't come until the night before I left, which wasn't when I wanted a drink.so it ended up not being consumed. They didn't seem to understand "delivery to room even if not answering". It wasn't the best experience, but.they did deliver it between 8 and 10 PM (I was at dinner).

The location is phenomenal. Manta Rays come, so do some Honu (Sea Turtles). But, like many of these resorts, you may get lucky, you may not.

Absolutely beautiful resort! Absolutely amazing view of the sunset in the pool area. They have their own beach for the customers of the resort And the amenities truly give the Hawaiian experience. Made my 84 yr old grandma's dream of visiting Hawaii come true.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights recently and had an amazing time. Beautiful resort with top-notch service highlighted our time spent there. One employee shined brighter than the others, his name is Bryan. Bryan checked us in and made us feel special as we were celebrating our 37th wedding Anniversary. We’ll always remember his big smile and pleasant personality. We do plan on returning to your resort in the near future.
