First off your 4.7 score is not accurate as you have staff giving you 5 stars. It should be for patients/ family. The care provided by N/A was POOR.
They made you feel like you were bothering them. I showered my mom per her request, but in the interim she was never offered a wet wash cloth to wipe her hands and face or perineal area. She was left in bed 90% of the times. There was no consistency in getting her dressed in her own clothes. Her commode was frequently left unemptied.
Food was not hot, water for tea was cold.
The unit on the first floor was in dire need of renovation.
Vent in room was black, not sure if it was dirt or mold. I let someone know but nothing was done.
Communication was lacking unless I pursued it.
Social worker Erica was very helpful and kept me abreast.

Some staff have a heart of gold while some staff cant find their heart for all the ice built up around their heart. I really hate posting bad comments but its just some staff just don't care.

My mother was there to recuperate from leg surgery after a fall. She got spotty physical therapy sessions and missed a whole week of PT due to extreme pain. Shortly after, she was due for discharge which we appealed. The appeal was denied by Kaiser even though she had not received the full amount of PT she should have. Several care home arrangements fell through the following week while she was still there and we had requested reconsideration of the appeal while looking for another home. During that entire week, NO PHYSICAL THERAPY could be arranged by anyone to even get her in a wheel chair and out of the bed. The social worker, RNS service, PT group - no one could manage to coordinate even one session while paying $600 a day. Disgraceful.

Took the most wonderful care of my Mom. The nurses, PT and OT were patient and very caring. 5 stars+. Very clean and welcoming.

1. Limited visitor parking, a fair portion of which is used by the facilities staff. Complaints to the facility were disregarded, as after 3 weeks (I visited almost daily in that time) the same staff cars were still parking in stalls clearly marked "visitor only". Staff cars are easily identified by the facility sticker on the front window.

2. Inconsistent therapy work. It was more like " do these exercises everyday on your own and we will evaluate you after a week". Family member had a "fall risk" bracelet on but was regularly asked to do her walks on her own, with little supervision.

3. Long Call Button wait times. Family member was reprimanded for using the restroom on her own after getting frustrated with the long wait for assistance. At some points urinating on the bed from waiting to long after using the call button. I personally observed a 30 minute wait time when I used the call button to call staff to address family members concerns. Had to leave at 30 mins, so approached the nurses station, which was unmanned.

Perhaps the only plus is because the severely overworked and understaffed aides and nurses do try their best for the patients. Putting on a smile everyday for those under their care in those circumstances is not easy.

The overall feeling that I felt from Hale Nani business staff is that they were more concerned with getting that check from medicare than the actual overall care and rehabilitation of the patient. I do not fault the "boots on the ground". The nurses, aides, therapists, and likely the doctors are, as mentioned above, badly overworked and understaffed. I do not recommend this facility, and yet, sadly, I have to admit I have been to a facility I would give a 0. So If this were a six star system I would give Hale Nani a 2 out of a scale of 0 to 5

Although staff at times seemed friendly and caring, they also seem to be in a rush all the time, my baby sister went there after back surgery and the first thing sign of trouble happens when they were using a hoist of some sort to transfer from bed to bed and she heard the staff saying stuff like, " you sure that's how it works? " During the process, they dropped her. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She was released about a month ago and suffers with walking and continent issues, most of her complaints have fallen on deaf ears.

I've called 6 times at different times of the day to get an update on my mom. NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE and you can't leave a message.

The staff was friendly, except for one nurse (Filipino) who rolled her eyes when my 90 year old uncle was trying to report that his wife Elsie Kawakone who was also there at Hale Nani for rehab, was eating very little (Elsie is 90 years old too). The nurse did it in front of our family member Pam- other than that I rate the service, rehab and staff in the excellent range- one worker will not ruin the efforts of the whole organization.

I've been employed at Hale Nani since 1990 and have always been happy here. Hale Nani staffs are like Ohana to me. I've always had the pleasure working closely with patients and other departments. It brings me so much joy knowing that I make a difference and am acknowledged for my hard work.

Great facility. Hale Nani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the premiere and biggest nursing facility in Oahu. The facility is clean and definitely has a new look with the recent renovations. The nursing staff is kind, considerate, professional, full of energy, excellent and always goes the extra mile to make sure residents come first. The administration is superb and give the current Director of Nursing, Stephen Brewer, the highest remarks. He make sure that his team provides excellent level of nursing care and service provided with much kindness and compassion. Not to mention his “team”, from ADon to Unit Manager to Charge Nurses, who are well versed in their specialties, intuitive, creative, and very knowledgeable. They always try their best to meet the resident and families needs. Each team member is always hands on deck. HN exudes a positive atmosphere and is conducive to healing. As a partner to many in the community, it is no wonder they are so well loved and supported by residents, families, physicians, other professionals and multiple healthcare agencies. Keep up the great work, HN. A+

PS: If you are looking for a SNF to place a loved one. I would definitely recommend HN.

Recreation is a stellar department, with great staff! They take care of their residents and work very hard to see the residents stay engaged and active. You can trust that your family members will be entertained during the duration of their stay!

I believe this nursing home is a great place to have your family here. Very good staffs and great costumer services. I love what I do and giving back to our community. Working and hearing from families how much much they adore and the service care for their love one. This will continue for me to keep doing what I love. Thank you for having me Hale Nani.

My mom so far has suffered no air-conditioning for this past month, 3 days of that not even a fan! She was full up with fluid in her abdomen that took 3 weeks before they took her to straub to get relief. Now talking to her the toilet in her room has been plugged since 3pm yesterday! It is 9am now! She had a hard surgery and she says the aids are great. But that hardly makes up for the flaws of the actual facility. I am sad to hear that my poor mom has had to suffer these hardships in a place meant to house and care for elderly people
