Hāmākua Chocolate Farm, Papaikou HI

My partner and I took a tour of the farm. The owners are super charismatic and knowledgeable. I loved seeing all their plants! The chocolate tasting at the end was also incredible 10/10 would recommend. It was a highlight of our visit.

Absolutely the most delicious chocolate in the world. If you like chocolate or cocoa this is the place. Organic, grown on the farm, just 2 ingredients and great owners with an awesome dog.

Fantastic day. The chocolate was amazing, but we learned so much more! The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and love introducing guests to the flowers and plants of their farm. The smell and sniff tests of various tropical plants were fun!

While planning my trip to the big island, I had no idea that one of my favorite things would be the Hamakua Chocolate Farm. These two amazing people know their stuff and have created a wonderfully immersive experience of touch, taste, smell, and sight. I never buy products after tours, but I couldn't help myself this time, and I intend to order from them again in the future.

It is well worth the time and money to set up a tour and enjoy an afternoon with the Hamakua Chocolate Farm.

This was a wonderful tour. Dan and Berndt were excellent guides and gave us a plethora of information about not just their cacao farm but also the wide variety of other plants and life they had growing on their farm. The walk was interesting, engaging, and very educational. They let us eat, sniff, and sample so many of their plants and was so much more content than what I was expecting from a cacao farm. And that was just the first portion! After that we tasted their rare cacao juice which was just a treat, along with their other chocolate and chocolate-infused flavors. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is able to walk for about 1.5-2 hours without breaks and is looking for something unique to do near Hilo.

This tour is a must! We had a great time learning not only about chocolate, but about all other exotic plants. 100% recommended! The passion and dedication behind this tour is worth a visit!

This is no ordinary tour. The guys go above and beyond to extend the aloha spirit. The gardens and orchards are stunning. Their knowledge about chocolate and plants is very extensive. The tastings were great and it was quite a large offering of things to taste. I felt like they invited us right into their home and were so welcoming. To me this is a must do. Thanks Dan and Berndt for being such warm and wonderful hosts during the tour. You are doing incredible things!

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! We learned all about the making of chocolate and tasting the chocolate plant and learning about all of the plants on the property. The chocolate tasting at the end was also lovely!

The tour was great! We loved the treehouse and the grounds. The chocolate was great and the whole experience was very interesting and informative!

We did the tour and tasting and it was worth every penny! Excellent way to see the process and experience different plants and herbs too. We would do this again.

Blown away by these amazing humans! Excellent tour! Highly recommend to anyone interested in tropical gardening, artisan chocolate, or just getting the unique opportunity to meet some hard-working, inspiring, innovative, talented farmers. Loved it all!

Wonderful to sleep in the middle of so much nature, the farm is great with many types of plants, flowers, etc. Very rich chocolate.

200% worth the price. Beautiful visit, amazing view, very educational, lovely owners, and the chocolate to die for. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
