Hang Gliding Maui, Hana HI

We had an absolutely amazing time with Hang Gliding Maui. Armin was incredibly friendly and immediately put us at ease. We are a family of 4, including 2 teenagers. So, it was nice that there was a lot to do in the hangar to keep us occupied while we each waited for our turn. It was an unforgettable experience, flying through clouds and over the island and the ocean. The views were spectacular. The best part was when Armin cut the engine and we drifted peacefully back down. It was our favourite part of our trip to Maui. If you can only do one activity in Maui, this is it!

Armin took my daughter, son and me up into the clouds and over waterfalls from his perch at Hana Airport. The entire excursion was amazing - even waiting for each other in the hanger was fun. We'll definitely be back!

I live in Lake Mathews, CA. Around 10 years ago Armin took me up for an hours flight. What a fantastic flight, he even let me fly the glider. Well, I was in Maui on Oct. 7,2023 and on the 8th I was up in the sky for my second round. This is a MUST side trip you must take. Make sure you call for an appointment. Stunning views over the Hana coast with black and red sand beaches and waves pounding the lava rock shoreline. Every shade of green and blue, circular rainbows and touching the clouds while learning how a motorized hang glider operates. Armin is a wonderful instructor and knows so much about this area.

Armin was tremendously communicative. This was an awesome experience. He is a very experienced pilot. Wonderful personality. I was not nervous at all. We just had a lot of fun. I highly recommend. I had wanted to do this since I saw the movie, "Fly Away Home. " The experience was exhilarating, awesome and just plain fun. This was a highlight of my time on Maui. What an incredible way to see parts of Haleakala! Extraordinary! We were staying in Hana. So, this was not far out of the way. Highly recommend for a once in a lifetime experience!

I first did this event in 2014. It was really great. I have since flown with Armin on every subsequent visit to Maui - sometimes twice! I've been all the way around the (southern) island. To the top of Haleakala. Others have posted many great pictures. I'll add just one that is a favorite of mine. I keep it handy on my phone and share it with anyone interested in such flying. I have also now flown this type of "trike" many other places in the world, many times (70+ hours), but the experience at Maui is the best for the consistent great weather and scenery, and it's great flying with Armin! Gliding back in silence is special under the right conditions. Very highly recommended. If you have any interest at all, DO IT!

DO THIS! This is one of the most thrilling, amazing and beautilful experiences of a lifetime. The Maui coast, the waterfalls, flying in the open air, you CAN'T beat this experience. And Armin is just wonderful. He's personable and assuringly professional.

I highly recommend adding Maui Hang Gliding to the top of your must-do list when visiting Maui. This was our second trip to Maui in over a decade, and it was even more incredible than we remembered. During our previous visit, our older child was too young to fly, so I took the flight and had an amazing experience, promising to return with the whole family. In July of this year, we finally made it back, and hang gliding with Armin turned out to be the absolute highlight of our Maui vacation. Armin is not only friendly but also incredibly flexible, ensuring that we had a relaxed and enjoyable time. Unlike many other tourist attractions where you often feel rushed and have to wait in long lines, Hang Gliding Maui offers a laid-back and stress-free environment. Plus, you can easily incorporate this activity into your Hana drive, as Armin's hangar is located at Hana Airport. We sincerely hope that Maui recovers swiftly from the Lahaina fire, and tourists can start visiting the area again soon. I even told Armin that we'll be returning in the near future because this experience was truly unforgettable.

Fantastic views, hang glider and especially- pilot!

Based on the recommendation from a travel guide book called Maui Revealed, I came into contact with Armin and booked a one hour power hang gliding lesson for my teenage daughter… who still talks about this experience. Armin guided her almost 5000 feet over the eastern side of Maui and took beautiful photos and video of her flight/lesson. Armin is extremely professional and personable, and I can’t thank him enough for this adventure! My daughter will never forget this experience! She said she touched a cloud! This is one of the most amazing experiences of my life! Armin was very personable, friendly, knowledgable, hilariously funny, and kept my nervous mind at ease. He knows what he’s doing. This was an amazing adventure. Definitely worth the money. Armin made us feel like family and I felt safe the entire time. It’s a great way to see the island and also a great memory. Don’t leave Maui without doing this!

I would highly recommend Hang Gliding Maui. It was the highlight of our trip. To be able to see the magnificent views from this vantage point and the peace of gliding through the air was a spectacular experience. Armin is the owner and instructor and is a true pro. We all felt safe under guidance. He has tons of experience you can tell he meticulously maintains all his equipment and made us all feel comfortable. Well worth the effort and price.

I can’t say enough about how awesome it is to fly with Armin! Whether you have some experience (I had previously taken a paramotor course and done some solo flights) or completely inexperienced with ultra light flying, Armin will show you an experience that will be the highlight of your Hawaiian vacation. Forget about a helicopter ride! This experience is sooo much better, and Armin is the nicest guy. Even if you’re a little nervous, you will feel safe and secure during your experience. Amazing super experienced pilot and instructor, amazing aircraft, amazing views and adventure. If you do this, you will not be disappointed!

Armin is a great guy and awesome pilot. We went out in his Autogyro and this is absolutely the way to see Hana! Would recommend this every time.

We had an amazing experience at Hang Gliding Maui with Armin. You cannot really see Maui unless you see it from the air! We were amazed by seeing all of the waterfalls and craters invisible from the ground, unless you trekked for hours or days through jungle, many of the places you can see from the air are inaccessible by foot. An experience that cannot be beat with an amazing guy running the place!

This was by far the standout activity from my trip to Maui. I almost booked a helicopter tour, but I was intrigued when I read about powered hang gliding. It definitely didn't disappoint! The pilot Armin is incredibly knowledgeable, flexible, and friendly. He has more than 20,000 hours of experience and has a great safety record. I learned a lot about flight in the 45 minute session. Flying over waterfalls and gliding through the clouds is an experience I will never forget. If you decide to do it just be aware that you must pay in cash. I don't like to repeat tours and activities when on vacation, but this was something so unique that I wouldn't hesitate to do it again the next time I'm in Maui. If you're going to Hana I would absolutely recommend making time to fly with Hang Gliding Maui.

Definitely a must-do experience! Well worth the cost! Armin was extremely passionate, knowledgeable and the experience was simply incredible. An absolutely essential way to see Maui! Spectacular unique views of Haleakala, waterfalls and the eastern Maui coast. I simply cannot recommend this enough.
