Hawaiian Brain Freeze Shave Ice and Ice cream, Hilo HI

Yum! It's like the frozen treat central. All the ice cream flavors, shave ice, milkshake, and even halohalo. We all enjoyed our single scoop cones: strawberry, chocolate brownie, lilikoi cheesecake, and banana Mac toffee. Expect a wait because it's a popular spot!

Excellent shave ice and ice cream. Lots of flavors to choose from. Portions are beyond gracious too. Prices are more than fair. Next time we are in Hilo we will be stopping by for sure.

Caveat: there is no dine in currently due to COVID. Everything is take out. You order from the front door, which has been covered in plastic where a worker takes your order and gives it to you once it is complete.

Online it says they close at 5m, stopped by at 3: 58pm and they were closed. What the heck, we wanted ice cream

Ordered a shave ice, great flavors and it was huge. Really impressive, don't go anywhere else for shave ice. Great price as well

An amazing experience for locals or tourists. All flavors are amazing, but I HIGHLY recommend anything Ube.

Horrible flavoring.burned back of throat. What is in the syrup? We are connoisseurs of shave ice and this was the worst. Typically I don't leave reviews, but this definitely does not get a 4.7 rating from me.

They have the best icecream and shave ice they have a wide variety and there halo halo is amazing the ice cream is smooth and creamy and the shave ice is so soft and they syrup is just right

Friendly staff, even when they were busy, the snow cones are giant but very good, the only downside is the flavoring doesn’t always reach the very center, other than that is a great shaved ice and ice cream joint. Shown in the photo is a kids size which is the smallest one

I haven't had any bad ice cream in Hilo yet. The selection at this place is large. And the flavors range from traditional to tropical. It has a very local vibe to it, and the clientele seemed to back that up. Didn't interact much with the staff as Hawaii is still in pandemic mode, so they were handing the ice cream they a tiny window, but they seemed nice enough given how busy the place was.

Everything was on point. I had the blueberry freckle, and my wife had the lilokoi cheesecake ice cream. Really good stuff. Creamy, no ice chunks or uneven textures even with the bits of real fruit throughout. Made for a very satisfying treat on a hot muggy afternoon. I highly recommend.

Recommended by the parking attendants at Akaka Falls State Park. The ice is shaved finely, so it's almost like snow. There's a good assortment of flavors. The ice is piled up impossibly deep. Good stuff. Sadly, they are carryout only during the pandemic.
