A local recommended this restaurant. We got a wonderful welcome from Brina. She recommended the tasting platter which is a sampling of different Hawaiian dishes. It was delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely, a must try when in Honolulu.

Excellent customer service from Rosie and Tati! They are the dream team! Rosie was prompt to return my request via email and Tati delivered with excellent service & true Aloha spirit! When my clients request to have Hawaiian food, Highway Inn Kaka’ako is my go to place! This restaurant is clean, modern with the old touch of Hawai’i and the food is ono! Go check em!

Food was solid and huge portions! I had the fresh poke bowl. Son had the Loco Moco they offer 2 portion sizes in this and he should have gone smaller. Husband had the fish tacos the tortillas were ube which was cool we had never seen them before. The wait was long but they are doing 50% capacity due to Covid restrictions. The staff was very nice and attentive. We were there for lunch and they were sold out of a few things by 1pm when we finally sat down, our waitress made alternate suggestions and we were very happy (and full!) When we left.

The fish tacos, loco moco and beef stew were amazing. My daughter had a plain burger and even that was super tasty. The service was fast, friendly and there was no line. Take a bus out of Waikiki and go to highway inn!

I had lunch their today and it was good, I haven't had grill cheese in a long time and so that's what I had, delicious. Its quiet but unique, a place for friends and family, not so good for children. They got the big screen going with some kind of women's surf tournament, I wasn't their that long, but enjoyed a pleasant dining experience. Will add photos later.

OMG.have not had Hawaiian food for awhile.the squid luau was awesome. Just a note that you can dine in before 2: 30 pm or its takeout or sit outside in the hot sun. We were just lucky a DJ was playing across the street that day for entertainment Forgot to take photos.sorry, was hangry!

Since this is a restaurant review, I should start with the food, but I feel I must start with the people! We were enthusiastically greeted by Brina. She instantly made us feel welcome and checked on us throughout the evening. June, our server, was so patient in answering our questions. He made suggestions and worked to ensure that we had a great experience. We tried the sampler platter. It was so different and unique, each bite an experience. I enthusiastically recommend Highway Inn, trust me- you will not be disappointed.

I would not recommend this place. Go somewhere else for cheaper and tastier food.

Mediocre food. Way over priced and bland. Overall very underwhelming. Tuna quality in poke bowl was quite good, but there was no sauce and not a lot of fish. The Tofu Katsu was flavorless and “homemade” katsu sauce was just ketchup.

The line was very long. They messed up our order and gave it to someone else instead (so it took 30 mins extra to come - we did get an extra dessert that we didn’t order). The amount of food they give is very small considering how expensive each dish is.

I was on a Loco-Moco quest and fell in love with this special dish. Due to the ongoing C19 pandemic there was limited seating inside but I was able to get a table on their outdoor patio. I ordered the mini Loco-Moco with a sunny side fried egg. The wait was less than 20 minutes despite being busy and the food was really good and perfectly flavored. The cashier was very nice and attentive and brought out my food when it was ready.

I ordered online for curbside pickup. I got there and texted that I had arrived. They texted back.will be right out. I waited at least 20 min in my car and started to get upset.so I decided to just go inside and get it. No one was even attending to my curbside order. I explained about my order which they later found.no apologies. I was so disappointed in the long rice.it smelled bitter and the noodles were still kinda hard. The laulau was very good but everything else about the experience kinda made me lose appetite.

Can’t say enough good things. From the moment you walk in you’re treated like family and the food is AMAZING. The Loco Moco is worth the walk from Waikiki and they don’t skimp on the pour for their drinks. Kids had a fantastic time and next time we’re back in Oahu we’re definitely coming back!

Solid 4.75. The service is super quick and friendly. I got the combination platter with a light salad and a sweetened iced tea. The iced tea was lightly sweet and refreshing. The platter was very good, but the one small thing is that the fish was over cooked though it had a nice breading. Some parts were tough, but all in all, was a very delicious meal!

A place loved by locals and visitors. One of the best ways to experience Hawaiian food if this is your first time, however all the food is great, whether you're having breakfast (awesome pancakes), lunch, or dinner. It's often busy so try to come during off hours or early.

Super fast service and the food was really good. If u dont eat to much, don't pick the Loco Moco Large, pick the mini one? I was full with half of the plate.

It has like 4 scoops of rice, 2 Meat patties, the gravy 2 eggs, and comes with Mac potatoes.

We placed our online order 20 minutes before arriving but it wasn’t until we pulled into the parking lot when we were contacted that they no longer had chicken lau lau and it would take 30 minutes. We asked to change the order to mochiko chicken - they were also out of that. Neither the chicken lau lau or the mochiko chicken were listed as “out of stock” on their website, so you see our frustration. We’ve now been waiting 32 minutes (52 minutes after placing our original order) and nothing in our order is ready.

If you’re looking for good Hawaiian food highway inn should def be on your list. We had the smoked moco, fish tacos, teriyaki chicken and the mochiko chicken. Everything was good besides the mochiko chicken. It was very dry and bland tasting. Would def go back to try more plates

I tried the butter fish and a taste platter. Was tasty, but a lot of bones. Poi is not my jam. Everything else was good. Not crowded and very friendly staff
