Hilo Brewing Company reviews
15Wonderful! Red and golden ales were fantastic, great margarita for the less beer-inclined of the party.
This is a great place for some of the freshest beer in Hilo. Great beer, great staff. Food menu is limited but also good. Support local businesses it really does matter.
Good beers and nice, friendly staff. No tap room, per-se, and definitely production oriented, which isn't a knock against them. But plenty of tables and a good beer selection. Definitely chill.
One word Awesome! This place is fantastic! The owner and head brewmaster was a delight to talk to! The tasting room is fantastic and the two beers I had were delicious! This place is as good as any Portland brewery I've been to! Mahalo!
Not the best beer I’ve had in my life but it’s worth the stop. It’s more of an industrial tap room setup where you can taste the beers at their brewery in an industrial end of town. The folks were welcoming though and I enjoyed my time there. If you are enjoying the rainy side of the island please do check it out.
Good beer selection, soft drinks in cans.pizza and hot dogs for food.bar dog.good friendly service, would go again.
I was excited to try this place out. When ever I travel, I always love trying the local beer. However this place was a let down. Wasn’t a fan on the beer. Plus they didn’t have any food options. Thankfully there are a couple of other good options on the island.
We have been here a few times now and our experience gets better and better with each trip to the island. The beer is delicious. The cocktails are delicious. The staff…there is no place that has felt more like a home away from home for us than Hilo Brewing. Last year we sat and talked with the brewmaster. This year, he was not only still brewing but now making the best tacos on the island. Turns out, we showed up for their first Taco Tuesday event. *chefs kiss* The tacos were simple, delicious and absolutely perfect. The salsa was so good.
Even without the food, the staff (Hey Brigitte) is what makes this place feel so comfortable. The beer gets you there, the staff make it hard to leave. Truly.
Can’t wait to see you guys again soon.
Nice little brewery. They've a few picnic tables outside and an actual bar with room for a half dozen people to sit at inside. All in all a pretty nice little place
I stood at the bar for 10 minutes waiting for the bartender to ask my order. It was not busy at all. She glared at me a couple times, ignored me, had a conversation with a guy at the bar who I'm assuming was a regular customer (he had obviously been there for a while). Then, she rudely barked at me as if I was inconveniencing her. I got the beers for my lady and I and sat outside. Ultimately, the dingy environment and unwelcome atmosphere forced us to drink our overpriced, disappointing beer as fast as we could, and leave.
Used to love coming here and supporting until today.so sad that good help is hard to come by.bartender was so miserable and literally just threw my bill down. I am an excellent tipper when served and tended properly as a customer. 2 beers and a growler for 56 bucks is really not a bad price at all (even if the growler wasn't filled properly) but when served by an uptight person makes it way more than what it's worth! Trying to support but she made me not want to ever return! Hopw you all make some changes! I love your product!
Great fine, we enjoyed the visiting with the Server regret not getting her name excellent service!
While the beer is unremarkable, the people are great. It's really nice to go to a place where locals hang out that isn't full of tourists, and they really embody the aloha spirit. The brewer even came out and passed around free samples of a beer that was still in the tanks!
Solid growler refills. Used to be Mehana brewing. Some of the brews are different, but the IPAs are similar.
Excited for more visits in the future.
Edit: Kanaloa DIPA (recent release) is solid, it has a strong malty mouth feel. In a way, reminds me of Dogfish head 90 min.
