Hilo Town Tavern reviews
15Great fries and yummy nachos. Don't go with kids if you want to sit outside as they allow smoking. They make you order fries on the side but at least the portion is kind of big.
Chicken Wings as well as Onion Rings were both awesome:) definitely make a reservation, we were lucky and got the last free table
My husband and I visited Hilo for the first time on our way up to see the volcanoes. Let me just say that it was a GREAT choice! We ordered buffalo hot wings, lemon & pepper wings, fries, a Mango Margarita and a Big Island Iced Tea! Nothing fancy at all but it was all delicious. The drinks and fries were the best we’ve had in Hawaii since we got here 6 days ago. Devon was our waiter and he was great as well. A great non touristy location which we loved!
My partner and I stopped in before a show at the Palace and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food, service, vibe and location could not be beat. Thank you Sarrah for making us feel so special!
While staying on the Kona side of the island we decided to venture to Hilo - and Hilo Town Tavern made the drive worth it! The food, drinks, and atmosphere were great, and the service was amazing. Highly recommend.
Awesome food and pupus. Great selection for drinks.
Quick and wonderful service!
Super cool events with a regular schedule. And their food specials are always worth checking out as well.
We love the Karaoke community! The servers and service are friendly and consistent. Taco night are the best!
So Smokey ya can’t eat there.
Disgusting. I had a Ribeye plate carmelized onions, hand cut fries and a few local brews in mind bbbbbut open mic night was so grossly packed with cig smoke I turned around at the door!
This place was open after 9, super friendly place to stop for a drink or a bite, menu was regular bar food, I had 2 of the 2 for $5 special chicken tacos, wasn't really expecting much but they were good! The waiter was super cool, and made sure we knew about the newest black sand beach on the island, near kalapana.
This place is very good! Hard to find parking if the lot is full next to it but one of the best places we have ate on this five day trip.
So we drove past and thought it was sketchy and we decided to go elsewhere. We were walking down the street and ran into friends going. So we tagged along, so glad we did. Jordan and Dao were the only people working the house. Their were about 20 people and no one went unserved the food was amazing. And the drinks exceeded expectations.
Big shout out to the staff they handled thing timely and very friendly.
Great food, good service, if you visit Hilo make this one of your stops. They also have good bands and karaoke two times a week.
We ALMOST didn't go here. The outside looked a little sketch at first. But we went in and we're thrilled. The 2 servers were amazing and the food really hit the spot. Probably our favorite place to eat on our trip. Only draw back. Outside could use fans. Wings were great! Nachos killed and the margarita was one of the best I've had. Shout out to Jordan and dao
Great spot on a Friday night with live music. Dropped into Hilo for a quick visit from Honolulu and wanted a bite to eat. Had a great Tavern burrito with the pork meat option. Super tasty and they keep 5 Kona Brewing Company beers on tap that I tried again for the first time in a while. Not disappointed one bit. Host was friendly and the bartenders were efficient especially considering it was a Friday after 930 pm. Stayed til closing and met some regulars. Felt like being home at my favorite bar. Highly recommend this place!
Friendly local style restaurant with live local music and a family atmosphere. We love that we can bring our dogs and they always bring them water and give them pets. Bar tenders remember our drinks and have always been stellar.
We were in Hilo and looking up places to eat and a tavern isn't the first place you think of for excellent food choices. However it was a holiday weekend and about the only thing open. I'm so glad the universe sent us in here! We had probably one of the best burgers I've had in my whole life. The bartender was super welcoming and friendly. I've seen some reviews mentioning for mainlanders to watch out and staff only nice to the locals but this couldn't be further from the truth. If you find yourself in hungry in Hilo this is definitely a place you must try.
