Holiday Inn Express Waikiki, an IHG Hotel, Honolulu HI

It has been an overall good experience. However, the pool is being renovated and is closed until sometime in November 2023. There is a great sun deck, mini golf, games area, gym on the 5th floor where the pool is as well. The break fast area is very nice. The food is pretty good there. The rooms are small. Very small. We have a room with two beds and with 2 people, 2 suitcases and 2 carry ons you can barely move in the room. The bathroom is so tight. It's difficult to get in and out of the shower because of the lay out and placement of the toilet. We do have a fantastic view. A small fridge. And a microwave. It just feels like so much is trying to be packed into a too small space.

Be aware of bait and switch. Our suite wasn't ready at check-in. Because of time constraints, we needed a room and were downgraded from a suite to a room at the same price.
The room was clean, and we were not able to adjust the AC.

10 minute walk from the beach! The rooms are small with dirty carpet. We stayed for the whole 2nd week in October 2023. The shower was moldy after 3 days.

Great location! Just a short walk to the beach, shops & restaurants. Parking garage gets full at night. Room was a bit tight, but was fine for a place to sleep & shower.

Really good hotel. Its not on the Waikiki beach, but close enough to all shops within walking distance. We don’t need fancy amenities

Middle of the road property with some great elements and some no so great.

On the plus side the price is good with breakfast included made it an attractive choice for our trip to Waikiki.

Location is also fine as it’s not far to walk to the main shopping and dining precinct.

Yes, the rooms are quite small, but have everything you need and the bathroom was renovated and perfectly fine.

Breakfast was adequate, albeit busy regardless of when you go in. We ended up getting take away breakfast most days for a number of reasons, but mainly to avoid the overcrowding, sub-arctic temperatures in the dining room, and the sniper-like pigeons outside.

On the negative side, the carpet in the room is in desperate need of a shampoo as we ended up with quite dirty feet just walking around barefoot in the room.

Lastly the window mount air conditioner was so loud it was unable to be used at night if sleep was desired.

We returned from a cruise only to stay at this hotel for a few hours to relax so we could catch our red-eye flight at 10pm. Sheryl at the front desk was so AWESOME, professional, polite and welcoming. MaryFaye assisted us with beach chairs/towels. And when we checked out the ladies at the front desk was so helpful with assisting us getting an Uber to the airport. All of these staff members truly showed the Aloha to us. Thank you so much! The room was sufficient enough for 3 adults for a day stay but any longer may feel a bit claustrophobic because the rooms are small.

This hotel was surprisingly nice. Rooms were a bit small, but we didn't need anymore room. The free breakfast was as good as free hotel breakfast normally is. Easily walking distance from all the touristy places and maybe 10min walking distance from the beach. Only real complaint I have is with the parking garage. They definitely don't have enough room for all the guests and we weren't given any options on where to go when their garage fills up. If you're parking in the garage, get there early.

Not the most glamorous hotel in Waikiki, but the higher floors have incredible views. The free breakfast is great if you're looking to save a little money in Honolulu. Rooms have been recently updated, are on the smaller side however.

Room carpet is very dirty and I stayed with family here every day I have to request the room service to vaccum the room and they changed the bed sheets every 3 days I got very bad experiences I will not recommend.

Worst holiday in express I have ever stayed. The room is very small, front desk tried up charging my parking, and no benefits at all for being platinum elite member. I've stayed over 20 nights in this hotel and my AC unit have to be replaced three times. I've asked for any upgrades when checking in but attendant looked at me like I'm asking for a miracle. On my last day, I asked for a late check out but front desk stated they're fully booked for tomorrow. I looked in IHG app and tried reserving 10 rooms and they have availability. This place is a complete disappointment. Stay somewhere else, get you money worth it, and get treated as a valued customer.

Nice hotel with clean rooms, good service.friendly staff. Easy walk to many restaurants and shopping and not too far from the beach.

I always stay here. Great service from staff. Breakfast. Room upgrade. Ocean view from upeer floor is priceless. This place makes me happy whenever I visit Honolulu. Thank you

I'm extremely upset with Holiday Inn, we got an email a few days before our stay that the pool would be closed for our entire vacation due to renovations. Had I been aware of this beforehand, I wouldn't have booked this hotel and the rate is NOT worth the tiny room you get (I mean tiny as in, barely room for our luggage). My husband and I booked a partial ocean view and we can't see the ocean at all from our window. If I could book somewhere else, I would but we cannot cancel here without a large fee. Likely won't stay at a Holiday Inn hotel ever again.

The room worked, it was small, but clean, a somewhat view of the ocean. The elevators could be crowded. The pool was closed for Maintenance. I liked being able to park myself in the parking garage, but there was not always available parking in the garage.

The hotel itself is clean and modern, but the rooms are way too small. You literally have to turn sideways to walk thru the bathroom doorway. There is also no desk/ workstation in the room if you want to do some laptop work while in your room. Highly recommend you do not stay here if you have a car. The parking situation is horrible at this hotel.
