Honolulu Soaring, Waialua HI

I absolutely loved going on a 30 minute glider flight with Honolulu Soaring. What better way to see this beautiful part of O'ahu than from 2000 or more feet. It was a smooth ride, very relaxing and very scenic. And the staff were great. I'd recommend this to anyone.: -D

Michael is a great pilot. My wife and I really enjoyed our flight, and we both felt safe. It was a real sensation of flight, almost birdlike. And the views were phenomenal. If you're thinking of doing this, you should. You'll be glad you did.

My sister and I went to Honolulu Soaring Club earlier this month and it was the best experience! The pilot, Michael, was great and very good at giving us amateur pilot instructions (we did the “hands-on” flight). Not only was the flight amazing, a week later Mr. Bill followed through on a promise to me. We mentioned that he reminded us so much of our granddad. Before we left, he had asked me for my address to send me something and actually followed through! I received it today and it completely made my day. It was so touching and sweet. Thank you so much! It was an unforgettable experience. You won’t regret flying with these wonderful guys! Highly recommend!

We had a 15 minute 2-passenger flight. They packed us both into the back section of a 2-seater glider and dragged us into the air with a propeller plane. Be prepared for a very tight squeeze in the cramped back seat where you also had to avoid the glider controls. That said, you quickly forget about how cramped it is when you witness the amazing view of the mountains and beaches outside. Once the plane released us, it was a quiet, scenic ride back down as the pilot pointed out various landmarks.

What an awesome experience today! The entire crew was so friendly! Can’t wait to do it again. Worth every penny. Thank you Bill!

One of the prettiest places to fly. Soaring over Kaena point and the north shore of Oahu is something you should do. The people are nice too. Don't forget to tip your pilot.

My wife and I went up individually. Fantastic experience. Bonus, saw whales frollicking off shore from the air. Must do.

This company has been running for 51 years! Awesome service, fun and amazing glider rides! Highly Recommend! Will come every trip to the island!

Can’t say enough about Jonah, Bill and Alan and our experience at Honolulu Soaring. This has to be one of the best locations for sailplane pilots to enjoy epic views right after taking off. The ridge provides ample lift, our pilot reported up to five hour flights in the area. They have been in operation for over fifty years and work closely with the other two operators (and a skydiving operation) to provide unique and memorable aviation experiences to Hawaiians and tourists alike. Glider pilots travel to this small, unassuming strip from across the world with good reason. COVID has been especially hard. Even with masks and ventilation, the lack of tourist bookings is really hurting all of the operators at the airport. If your comfortable, now we be a great time to get your rating, especially if you already have your private pilot’s license (in which case you might be able to do in as little as ten hours). You can support them, from wherever you are, by purchasing a club membership.
