Honu Oceanside, Lahaina HI

The bar and kitchen did incredible work, but our waitress was unacceptably terrible by all measures. I felt like our table was forgotten, she couldn’t answer anything about the menu, never introduced herself or gave any help as to how to tackle the large menu. All other wait staff seemed so professional. Other tables around us seemed upset with her lack of service too.

When chefs dropped off food I asked about fish specials or dishes and got amazing responses, which is the only reason we didn’t leave early. For the reputation Honu has, the level of service was appalling and we won’t be returning here with all the amazing experiences we have had at other restaurants in the area. I don’t know how someone so bad can be a waitress at such a nice restaurant.

Food wise, everything we tried was amazing, highly recommend the poke, the fresh fish was great, although I got the sandwich instead of the full serving, nervous of the service issue. The coconut banana cake is outstanding. I hope other people don’t share my experience in the future, but the service here was the worst I’ve ever experienced in fine dining.

Great ambience. However, portion size is on the smaller size compared to the price. Loved the ahi. The taste and value of Paia fish market in the town was way above this.

Everything, and I mean literally everything, was fantastic. They were super accommodating to our large group, they took their time walking us through the menu, and the location was absolutely top notch. And the food was STUPID good.

Specifically I want to shout out to Rich who waited on our table. He was very personable and patient with all of us. Whatever they are paying him, he deserves 50% more.

I'd give 10 stars if I could. This place is awesome. Happy (his name) our waiter was GREAT! From the young gal who seated us to the Manager we will definitely return. ️️️️️️️️️️

Very reasonably priced. Sat at the bar and George and Dave took great care of us. Good amount of seafood in the cioppino.

I was an hour late and the kitchen was almost closing and I saw them turn other people away. Since I had a reservation earlier the host seated me at the bar and I had the most wonderful dinner here. Highly recommended. I have already returned for another time, and I'm only here 10 days.

It took 45 minutes to get the food, there was not very many people in the restaurant.

Very inviting and cozy atmosphere with a beautiful view of the ocean, especially during sunset. Located not far from the downtown Front street attractions and retail/tourist area. The food was outsanding. Many gluten-free options. Great drink and wine selection. Amazing desserts. The server was quick, very polite and made excellent recommendations. The owner was awesome, too! We celebrated a group dinner here and everyone loved it.

Don’t even hesitate, one of the best places on this side of Maui. If you’re looking for that elevated and local taste, this is the spot.

We had a reservation here after our wedding. We waited at the bar for our table to be ready, and when seated, we were literally crammed on all 4 sides. It was very loud, so much that I couldn’t even hear my husband talking to me from 1 foot away. We eventually left and went somewhere else. Although I can’t speak for the food, I wouldn’t recommend making a reservation here if you’re wanting a nice intimate dinner.

The view was great, the service wasn’t bad but the food was mediocre at best. The ahi bruschetta had whole tomatoes on it like it was a burger and my 35$ Greek Salad with chicken has literally one piece of lettuce. It’s a joke.

Chef Scotty knows how to cook fish…beautifully done with lovely spices and able to adapt to client needs. Waitstaff is amazing and knowledgeable. Wine list is broad and reasonable! We visit Maui 3 times a year and we visit Honu at least 7 times each visit!

We had a great experience here. The manager is awesome, she accommodated with the table that we wanted. Just remember to reserve before hand.

We just enjoyed a delicious lunch at Honu. The owner Kyle Turner is welcoming and Happy along with the rest of the staff treated us like royalty. We enjoyed the Poke Plate and the fresh catch of Mahi Mahi. Both were delicious but the Poke Plate was so tasty that we took two orders back to the hotel with us to enjoy while packing for our flight home tomorrow.

Excellent dining experience! Delicious food with an awesome ocean view. The staff was very friendly and provided the best service I've had in a very long time.
