Istanbul Hawaii reviews
20A perfect experience, incredible, I recommend it to everyone, the application is perfect for me, thank you
Unfortunately did not live up to the hype. We got hummus, doner, cauliflower “shawarma”, and coffee.
For $16 the hummus only came with a single pita that didn’t seem fresh
The coffee came out room temperature and the Turkish delight was very inauthentic
The doner for $36 was on the smaller side with very skimpy side of rice and veg.
The cauliflower was good but it was quite literally just a mount of cauliflower on a soggy pita
I asked for a side of hot sauce and the waitress had to confirm with me because hot sauce costs $8… A CONDIMENT COSTS $8
The food was good/average but it’s hard to enjoy when you feel nothing was fresh, half the dishes are inauthentic and everything was significantly overpriced
2 stars for the food, but the service and decor were nice.
Every time I’m in Hawaii. I like to come here for lunch/brunch. Super flavorful & tasty.
And I love their Turkish coffee….
Visited Istanbul HI in November, and glad we did. The food here is so delicious- flavor-packed but not overdoing it like some places can. The balance of spices was delightful in all the dishes I tried (meze platter, ribeye shish, lamb shish and the Iskender doner; the lamb shank tagine was out of this world!). For dessert, we had the baklava, kunefe, limon tart and fig creme brulee- all so well-made. The atmosphere was an elevated homey one. The service was also great- the wait staff was very friendly and efficient. I would definitely return here.
The food is average level, extremely small portion for the price.
The pilav is tasteless, even the tea is not up to the mark.
The atmosphere is fantastic I don’t know if it’s because of the place it’s too pricey I felt.
Disappointed.
Street parking available from a walking distance.
Had to wait a hour just to get in. Food was okay but the wait was ridiculious. Even made a reservation and still waited that long.
Everything about Istanbul is excellent, but if you can, sit outside. The inside of the restaurant is a bit too noisy for conversation.
The best that we had in Honolulul has to be from this Turkish restaurant. Chicken shish was the star of the evening. The service is amazing until the waiter finds out that you are not going to tip him, after this he wouldn't even bother smiling at you (which is I believe the case in Hawaii usually).
Highly recommended for food.
Wonderful place to have Mediterranean cuisine in Honululu downtown. We were attracted by the large selection of vegetarian options at this restaurant, especially enjoying the cauliflower shawarma, hummus and soups.
Was very pleasantly surprised with the food here! The food was very delicious and authentic, the restaurant was super clean and gorgeous, and our waiter was extremely kind and helpful. Would highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you live or are visiting Honolulu
Food was good but waaay overpriced.
Menu could be improved with more descriptions. Server could do a better job explaining items on the platter and how to eat it. Service was pretty much nonexistent when we went- it was busy, but still.
Used for weekend brunch. The service and food are excellent. I especially liked the lamb meat, which was soft and had no odor The store's original mimosa was so delicious that I had to order another It's a popular restaurant, so it's best to make a reservation even for lunch.
The food was excellent, tastes very authentic, spices were strong and flavorful. Food came out fast. But they no longer serve chicken doner which seems a bit weird for a Turkish restaurant. Price is a bit too high, the food was certainly good but the portions are too small for that price tag.
The decorations make the place feel alive and authentic, certainly add to the ambience and accentuates the food. However, the noise level was a bit too loud. Hard to have an intimate conversation.
The servers were attentive and quick.
Service was good same as atmosphere… Food is okayyyy… Didn’t really taste like Turkish food. (and I am a big fan of Turkish cuisine). We had Fish lamb chops shrimps stake and sampler tray. Fish was small and had just a bit of meat. Lamb chops wasn’t cooked properly. Shrimps wasn’t cleaned I had to clean it myself (I go to the restaurant to enjoy the food not cleaning shrimps) and last for $160 could be muchhhhh better
Amazing food and excellent service. The restaurant is family owned business serving authentic Turkish dishes, tasty cocktails and delightful desserts. Everything here is flavorful, perfectly spiced and served in moderate portions.
Love the food and service. I've had the Lamb Pirzola, Ribeye Shish and Ottoman Steak. For appetizer we always get the Meze platter so we can have a bit of everything. Also, there baklava is a fan favorite. This place is a definite recommend.
The lamb and Steak shish were divine. The sampler platter from the appetizer menu is a favorite! I will come back for the Ayinger celebrator dopplebock. Turned the worst Thanksgiving into the best.
With respect to the price, quantity of the food is very less. They give you food in small 6in (or 8in) skillets. Taste is mediocre. Food was cold, I wish if they warm up the rice or the doner or beef we ordered. After having food at this restaurant, I had to go somewhere else to fill myself up. The red tomato sauce on doner ruins the taste. Chicken doner was tasteless plus red sauce on top further ruins it.
Well, atmosphere is good, restaurant is at very good location.
The service was next level!
I ended up eating the feast with an evil eye cocktail on the side and the baklava for dessert.
Highly recommend the lamb.
Its a busy place, had to wait past our reservation time before getting a table, The servers were good but a little slow to respond. The mains are pricey and not as authentic as I would have liked. I've spent time in Turkey before so I know Turkish food well.
