Naru is a really delicious Okinawa inspired Izakaya. Really good food and atmosphere! We had the gyoza and taco rice, both were delicious. The staff are super friendly and I plan on becoming a regular here. Highly recommend this place!

We came in around midnight. This is very much a Tapas type of place not a full dinner.

My friend and I had their draft beer and it was good. My girlfriend got their Yuzu drink and that was very good especially if you like sweet drinks.
The Carpaccio was melt in your mouth delicious. The lemony acidity was delicious and I was eating the leftover onion on that plate by itself.
The Miso Butterfish is also ridiculously tender, skin was seared very well, but it was strong with that butter flavor. Still very delicious, but for me personally it was a little too much. My friend on the other hand grew up with it and absolutely loves it, so to each their own!

Service was kind and continuously checked on us and was able to explain the parts of the menu we couldn't understand (everything is Japanese based).

If you just got off work late, had dinner but want too meet with friends for something light, this is absolutely the place to go

A cozy place with great service. Food is delicious and the presentation is superb. We came here with my husband and our baby and we had a great time. Our baby especially loved the garlic fried rice with lettuce and escallops.

Visited way back in the spring time of last year. It was amazing! The food was top notch and their house made alcohol was great and fun to try:) the atmosphere is cozy but lively.

The place is dusty and there was a big bug on our table while eating which was totally unbearable. I am allergic to dust and I felt uncomfortable the second I went in the place so you can tell how dirty the place is. Absolutely not recommended.

Very slow and I found a huge bug on the wall. All the dishes are salty, would say a good place for having some drink but not dinner.

Great spot to eat with good vibe. I do think the prices are a bit on the pricy side for a few pieces of meat.

This place is beyond amazing, the food comes in small portions, meaning we can taste as many as we want. Every single dish is special in its own way. Beef tongue is a MUST. So glad that we were able to get a reservation on the last day of our Hawaii trip.

It's small but cozy. We sat at the bar and talked to one of the chefs. The atmosphere was friendly, and the food very good. The butterfish took a long time to come out, but everything else came out quickly. This is an Okinawan izakaya, so the menu looks a bit different from other Japanese food. We enjoyed it very much

My boyfriend and i made reservations for valentine’s day dinner after a friend of mine said she ate here for three consecutive nights during her own oahu trip.needless to say the restaurant exceeded our expectations and we ended up eating dinner here twice during our seven day trip.izakaya naru has excellent food and service, and it is easy to make same day reservations if you call (they pick up even when the restaurant is not technically open). My favorite dishes were the butter miso fish (a daily special), the homemade okinawa soba with ribs, and the berkshire pork.if you’re not a huge sake fan like me, i recommend trying some of their other drinks like the calpico sour.the service here was also very noteworthy.it was clear from our first visit that guests love the staff and for good reason.everyone was super attentive and polite.some guests also seem to know every member of the staff by name.on our second visit, we witnessed a man come into the restaurant with a nonexistent reservation (he claimed that he was not asked to leave a name for his reservation and that he spoke to a woman even though the staff clearly said no women were taking reservations that day so it couldn’t have been the same restaurant). I don’t know the full story but the customer was quite disruptive and the bartender handled the situation very gracefully and eventually managed to accommodate them.i also forgot my lip balm on my first visit and they somehow kept it for me and returned it on my second visit!

absolutely amazing time here and i cannot thank izakaya naru enough for the great food and service!

Authentic izakaya spot with great flavors, and many unusual dishes. Very reasonable price and service is great! Reservation is highly recommended.

If you ever want to experience a typical "izakaya" in Japan or more specifically Okinawan, you have to check out Izakaya Naru! It's a tiny hole in the wall located on South King Street that has a small bar with maybe 10 seats and 3 tables at most. I highly recommend making reservations. You will get to try Okinawan specialties such as soba noodles, peanut tofu and Goya champuru. They also offer contemporary dishes such as the gyoza pizza and the taco rice in a hot stone pot. It's really fun to order a lot of different items to share with your party. They serve Okinawa's most famous beer Orion and also serve Awamori which is an Okinawan rice liquor, similar to shochu. Izakaya Naru is fun, unique and tasty and will scratch your itch for a Japanese experience!
