Jackie Rey's Ohana Grill Hilo reviews
16 The seafood trio was beautifully plated and both drinks we ordered were well prepared and delightful.
My partner is a lava flow fan and was very impressed by the passion flow - not too sweet, well balanced and good ingredients. $5 for the rosemary bread, while tasty, felt steep.
In the end, the whole package sold us nicely. Lovely ambience and a charming vibe. Worth a stop for any Hilo occasion.
A beautiful building in downtown Hilo. I heard that it used to be an old bank. They even converted the safe into a wine room! And the food and service were excellent!
The food, service, and atmosphere were all great. Really cool place, an old bank converted into this restaurant which kept the original safe now in use as wine storage.
Booked a table for 6. Arrived a few minutes early, but the table was ready in no time. Waiter was very pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu.
We had crab cakes, Ahi Poke and a Trio seafood platter, which had grilled shrimps, crab cake and grilled Mahi Mahi.
Taste and presentation were outstanding.
Portions were on the smaller side. So for a hungry group like us, we would have loved to have a bit more food.
Wonderful dinner with my husband! Staff, food, atmosphere perfect! This is definitely one of our favorite restaurants on the island. Best part is that we live here and can dine at Jackie Rey’s as often as we like!
Wife ordered the mahi mahi, and it is the first fish dish I have ever been jealous of when I have ordered an amazing steak (which was very good). Best fish either of us have ever had!
Love the Food, Flavor and Portions the Location of the restaurant is prime in Hilo Town.
Parking is great
Warm welcoming at the entrance
Service is good.
We do lots of ohana dinners
Absolutely AMAZING.don't think about it. JUST GO, you will not be disappointed. You could literally pick anything on the menu.delicious
This is by far the best restaurant of my trip so far. The price and value and quality of the food was outstanding. Service was great and the food and drinks were priced very fairly in comparison to the other restaurants I've been to in hilo this trip.
I've eaten at Jackie Reys Hilo several times now and it never disappoints. Delicious, beautiful food (they're Molokai sweet potatoes are heavenly), great service, and great location. I ordered the seafood trio this past time and it is so colorful and delicious. I just love it.
Service was excellent the servers were attentive and polite. Never waited for drinks or plates to be cleared.
The pupus we're delicious! The edemame is a must try. The pulled pork quesadilla was good, could be a little more spice salsa.
The happy hour prices made the place affordable. Plenty to choose from on the happy hour menu with discounted prices.
The dinner menu is expensive but the meals were all delicious. Maybe not a weekly or monthly choice for me, but a good special occasion place for sure.
Don't skip the desserts, they had lots to choose from the table orders a few different kinds some were seasonal offerings. Nothing disappointed.
I have eaten here before and it was pretty bad.but it seams they have changed the menu a bit and maybe hired some one new to cook? Idk but it's better now The waiters are professional and helpfully.
Excellent all around, fun menu with something for everyone and surprisingly decent wine list. The pupus platter was very generously portioned and all delicious though every item was excessively sweet for our tastes. Lemongrass Caesar was bright and fantastic, subtlety flavored with a touch of anchovy and floral hits of lemongrass. Finally the pork chop lives up to its reputation as perfectly cooked, juicy with the most savory to-die-for sauce; highly recommended! Oh, and the Mai Tai, is damned good.
Staff and presentation were on point. I felt the entrees to be a bit over priced based on flavor and serving size.
Atmosphere was lovely.
*Get the edamame
