Jackie Rey's Ohana Grill Kona reviews
15Service was slow.and the king crab was strangely served with vegetable oil. The pork spring roll was delightfully packed with meat and the surf and turf was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were delicious. The view of the sunset was beautiful.
There were mixed reviews about this place. We went for a special occasion but the service was very disappointing and food wasn't great. My daughter liked the ribs and steak though.
Darrell is amazing! Service is top notch! Food was great. Will definitely come back:) reservation is needed!
This is our second year going to Jackie Rey's. Last year was an excellent experience all the way around. The owner spoke to us at the bar and everyone was very accommodating. This year unfortunately was a very different experience. We made reservations this time and showed up 10 minutes early. The hostess started off uppity and almost annoyed we were there. She took us to our table, a 2 top in the middle of the restaurant and the sun was just about set so one of us would have to wear our sunglasses for the 10-15 minutes. I asked if we could sit at a table along the wall (another 2 top) and she said that was for a reservation. I said we have reservations too and she said well I don't know. It won't take long for the sun to go down, it's fine right? ! No, not really but ok. We sat down and my boyfriend went to the car to get his sunglasses. The male waiter stopped and said hi and asked if we wanted a cocktail. I ordered 2 Pina colada's.
Excellent food, friendly service and nice atmosphere. We did not have a reservation, and the staff made us feel welcome, gave us a realistic wait time, and were all very attentive throughout our whole experience. I will go again!
Went here about five years ago and it was very good, but not sure what the situation is after the pandemic.
Very friendly staff. I would definitely be sure to get a reservation, the place was crawling when we went.
Nice location, great atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food! Loved it, recommend it!
It is helpful to know they no longer have their happy hour food menu. Great environment with ocean view. Good waiter. Ribs were tasty. Ceasar salad was fresh but uncut and bitter. My son got the shrimp and chicken angel hair pasta ($33), and there were 3 shrimp, and a third of the content was tomatoes (see leftover photo). Perhaps add more shrimp? Overall, nice experience, but some dishes could be improved.
The food here is AMAZING! They have the best pork spring rolls. Their Lilikoi cheesecake is to die for! Gelato there is great and if you're into it, try their mocktails, they, like everything else there is amazing. Loved the atmosphere and shout out to our awesome waitress Dasha and to the amazing owners Chad and Diane!
I ordered the seafood trio because I heard it was delicious, but the spice scent was strong and it had no taste. Overall disappointing quality. Please don't go there on purpose and eat it.
Worst restaurant on the island. Can u imagine sweet tuna tartar or seafood trio. Li.guine with clams.dry.geez.save ir $$ & skip this awful place.
Just another check on let downs coming to the big island. Saw a bunch of good reviews and after everywhere we tried be closed we found this place. We’re told tables were full even though there were about 5-6 open and sat at the bar. The food looked like a rainbow project that we got. The poke tower at least had some edible fish, and the seafood trio was so small. After $100 or so, we’re now hungry and going to eat at McDonald’s
Excellent service. Ribs were fine, the guava sauce flavor did not come thru but they were very meaty. The Mahi Mahi was good. The Kahlua pork spring rolls were the best thing we had, truly excellent. Specialty cocktails were great. The Lemon Grass Caesar salad was a bit lack luster.
I am genuinely confused on why there are so many good reviews for this place. I really thought it was going to be great based on what everyone has said, but I was sorely disappointed.
I ordered the seafood trio and was shocked at how small of a portion it was. The sweet potato and sauces were sickeningly sweet, and the ahi was totally bland. The best part was the tiny crab cake. It was safe to say I left hungry.
My husband ordered the angel hair with crab and chicken. There was no flavor whatsoever, and there was a pool of water at the bottom of his bowl. The only thing we actually enjoyed was the lemon grass Cesar salad, but it definitely wasn't worth eleven dollars. Overall I feel like we threw 106 dollars out the window and would advise others to find a better place to spend their money.
