Kalalau Lookout reviews
17While this is a good view, go up the road to the Pu’u O Kila Lookout to get the FULL stunning view. This place does have a bathroom tho, which helps!
Beautiful lookout regardless of season to remind you how small we are in the grand scheme of things. Also a great stroll to educate on some endemic/native plants and the associated Hawaiian names/uses. Nice little 1/4 mile loop that is great for all ages (and larger hikes too). Everyone will appreciate moving their legs after a long drive!
WOW! Amazing, spectacular views!
Large ocean front in the backdrop with Na Pali coast, jagged mountain ranges, green and lavish vegetation, beaches and canyon top views on one side, and slopes touching the ocean on other side. Incredible views - Magnificent!
Great views, well worth the drive.
TIP: There are four or five turnout / lookout points. Don't miss any of them. ONE parking and visit fee covers ALL of the Vist points. $10 per car plus $5 per person. Good all day, all sites.
Best view on the island - great to see from the top and then take a boat cruise to see from the bottom. SO MANY RAINBOWS!
One if my favorite places to visit.lots of trails for different skill levels. A long winding road will lead you to the lookout.depending on the weather, you can see the down to the water!
Stop over here if you’re seeing the canyon. You don’t need more than 15 minutes to take in the gorgeous view of the Na Pali coast, and you already need to drive down the Canyon anyway, what do you have to lose?
Absolutely wonderful, iconic view point in Kauai. It was raining as we were driving up (its a fairly long drive up the mountain), but cleared up nicely by the time we got to the top.
Tip - the better view of the Kalalau Valley is actually from the Pu'u o Kila lookout, which is further up from the Kalalau lookout (& is the starting point for the Pihea trail)
One of the highlights of our trip to Kauai was driving up the mountain range to this lookout point. And we couldn't have timed it more perfect we arrived just in time to watch the sun set and it was beyond spectacular.
This is a beautiful sight to see and if you have even been on the Kalalou Trail starting on the North side of the island then you'll be able to see the end of the trail with the small beach down below.
Lots of parking and bathrooms with additional handicap parking. Big open field at the middle for kids to run around at. You'll be able to see the Na Pali Coast from the side and I encourage you to continue up the ride to see the top of the mountain looking down. Drive is about an extra 5-8mins
One of the coolest views in the world.make sure you pick a good day and go early as the clouds roll in and can cover the view.
Highly recommend checking out the weather before driving up there as its more than an hour drive from lihue. It was really cloudy when we got there, almost a waste of our time. The trail down to where you want to take pictures is obviously closed due to the dangers associated with slipping off as your 4,000 feet in elevation, but most people don't care and will hope the fence. There is ample parking and bathroom facilities.
Absolutely beautiful. One of the most stunning views in all of Kauai. The drive up reminded my of a mountainous country drive in northern Utah. The the trailer the whole way up had several lookouts. The payoff at the end was absolutely worth it.
This is arguably my favourite lookout in the planet. If you drive through the Waimea Canyon, I would highly encourage you to drive up to here. Additionally, I would highly encourage you to check the weather forecast to understand when it's likely to be sunny. When I was here (end of June), it was very sunny in the morning, but got cloudy from 10am onwards on a regular basis.
Absolutely stunning view, with extra special significance for those of us who hiked the Kalalau Trail all the way to Kalalau Beach. Being able to look down on the beach on a clear day and see from above where you hiked to is super awesome, especially when considering the trailhead is a 2.5 hour drive from the lookout! Of course, even if you've never even heard of the Kalalau Trail, this view is absolutely incredible. God Bless Kauai!
Amazing, beautiful, and majestic view! Mountain range meets the sea, clouds, and sky. This is probably the best lookout of the Kaua'i Island. We spent the most time here just to admire the breath-taking view.
