Kohala Divers Ltd, Waimea HI

I recently started working my way towards a PADI Open Water dive certification with Kohala Divers. The weather has been far from cooperative but they have been very flexible and have done everything they can to help me reach my certification by the time my vacation ends. I had an all day confined dive session with my instructor Elias. He was absolutely fantastic. He had a lot of patience and humor to get the class through all the skills we needed to learn to the point where everyone was completely comfortable with the skills. Thank you for the learning!

Just amazing! Thanks a lot to the all staff, i felt safe in every moment, i learned a lot about the sea life. And really have so much fun! When I come back for sure I will dive with you guys!

Excellent day put on by a great operation with well-versed crew with wonderful attitudes. Granted the weather was great and the sea life cooperated, but it’s still amazing how much a difference positivity makes! Highly recommended, and we will be repeat customers hopefully sooner rather than later.

Had a wonderful morning two-tank dive with Kohala Divers & Tyler as my dive guide. Saw white tip reef shark, green sea turtle, nudibranch, frog fish, and much more! Would recommend Kohala to looking to dive on the big island. The pick up from local resorts is a huge plus.

My husband and I have been scuba diving since the late 1990's and I can say, hands down, that the Kohala Divers operation is the best we have ever experienced! Why do I say that?

1. Professional, courteous, efficient, and friendly staff in the shop and the shop is well stocked.

2. Outstanding SCUBAPRO rental equipment.

3. Namaka is a roomy, comfortable dive boat with a head on the main deck! Also an easy entry in the water - large stride off the stern and easy return to board the boat - two ladders at the stern. Also, the boat has two weighted, 20 ft descent lines off the stern to make descents and safety stops really easy.

4. Excellent dive briefings prior to our dives providing an understanding of the topography, depths, and what to look for on the dive site.

5. Speed of the dive - maybe it is because I live in a place that is predominantly drift diving, but my favorite thing to do is to take my time to enjoy the fish and observe behaviors. You miss so much when you are constantly swimming to find the next big thing. Kohala dive masters are great with moving slowly underwater so that we don't miss anything!

6. The dive masters are professional, friendly, and fun and are really focused on safety and providing an amazing experience for their diver guests. They accommodate divers of all levels. They set up your equipment if you prefer! It really is a true valet service that will make all divers feel comfortable. We dove with Matthew, Sandy, Corey, and Justin and all were outstanding.

7. We dove with dive boat captains Keith and Ty and both are knowledgeable, professional, and focused on safety and making sure that the dive site conditions are conducive to an enjoyable dive. They even ensure your mask is defogged before you hop off the back of the boat!

8. The dive sites on the northern Kohala Coast are less populated with dive boats and you arrive at an outstanding dive site in a relatively short period of time. The boat travels north and south for dive sites.

Kohala Divers describes themselves as a "luxurious valet dive charter" and they truly live up to that description - in fact they surpass it! I highly recommend Kohala Divers whether you are an experienced diver or a new diver or student. You will not be disappointed!

We reached out to Kohala in a pinch to rent some gear for a quick refresher dive. Rebecca was working the counter and is super nice. Got us all setup and gave us fantastic advice on where to go do a quick dive for me to practice the basics with my wife before a boat dive in the coming days. She sent us up to Māhukona Beach Park, and was a nice easy entry and calm waters while everything for a shore dive would have been a headache that day. Made for an enjoyable dive spot as well.

I had a fantastic dive with this crew. My son and I live and dive on the Big Island full time. We live in Kona but are stoaked to head north the the famous Kohala cost to experience diving at its finest. The equipment, showers, boat, Captain, crew, staff, shop, and even the shuttle are all top notch and still the dive is the highlight. I highly recommend
