Koko Head District Park reviews
14The color of the sea in front of the sandy beach under the cliff contrasts with the color of the distant sea. Both are pretty colors.
Whether you're hiking the trail or going around to the botanical garden, Koko Head District Park has something for everyone. It's a bit out of the way if you're not in Hawaii Kai, but it's still a pleasant outing if you're looking for something to do.
Bring plenty of water. Trail tends to be very warm anytime between 9am and 5pm. Give yourself an hour for the first time and explore the views from the top.
If you’re gonna do the railway hike be prepared with a lot of water, and I would recommend being physically fit. The hike isn’t an easy task and I would recommend going in the morning so it isn’t that hot.
A relatively clean public park where basketball, baseball and tennis play is available. Little ones will enjoy the fairly new jungle gym located near the park entrance. Public restrooms are available but usually highly used due to the hikers that come for the Koko Head trail.
Definitely a challenging walk up, the higher you go the steeper it gets. Definitely recommend proper hydration the day before and while on the climb up.
Beautiful experience even as it is a road side view! Don't rush and enjoy the Beautiful colors of ocean and the sky!
Very nice hike to the top - little bit challenging, have shoes with good grips. The views on the top are absolutely stunning.
Iconic hike in Hawaii. A lot of people wear sandals, some even go barefoot. I'd recommend hiking shoes just to be safe. It's definitely a workout, be sure to have water on hand. Worth the hike for the beautiful views at the top. 10/10 recommend at least once when you visit Hawaii, preferably in the morning before it gets too hot out.
If you have to climb the stairs, there is a great car park, free, and there is a toilet nearby that you can use
Free parking, water, a hat to avoid the sun, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a sweat towel are essential. If you climb to the top, you can see a great view of Oahu Island and Hanauma Bay, which is famous for snorkeling points. More than a thousand steps. I recommend going in the morning because you will be sweaty. Jjori absolutely no no You have to wear proper shoes. Two hours round trip (easy, easy) The summit is so cool and steamy, and a sense of accomplishment. The sea view is great and I can see humpback whales in the winter season
Peaceful for the most part and perfect for the local families to visit and for recreation. I hike from this park to the top of hanauma bay trail. Tourists use the park to climb koko head. I stay away from that climb as too crowded.
So tranquil. Walking down to the beach area is not easy and should be done with caution. You have to walk down rocks as there's no real path. The water can hit hard but is good for a quick dip and if you want great pics with decent sand it's worth the stop.
It takes about 90min to reach at top. Go with just 1 bottle of water, nothing esle. Free parking
