Loved the location, views and the service at the restaurant were great. Had breakfast here as part of a tour to see Haleakala sunrise.
It sits at around 3000ft above sea level. The views are amazing and they have an amazing garden terrace that you can walk around on.

Very slow. Came there for lunch, waited 15 min to get seated and 15 min for our drinks order. IT took them an hour to bring the food. Redic!

Worthy of my 5 stars because of the friendly staff at the Kula Lodge restaurant. We are cyclists who were climbing Haleakala and stopped by to refill our water bottles. Kula Lodge was so great they refilled our bottles and even added ice and some words of encouragement as we tackled the climb. Really appreciate it, Kula Lodge! We will be sure to visit again next time we're in Maui.

We had a great stay here! Check in and out was super easy, and the staff were very responsive, helpful, and friendly before and during our arrival. Everything was exactly as described online. There is no TV or AC, but that wasn't a problem for us. Having a general store on the property was convenient, and town/restaurants are only 10-15 minutes away.

The views from the dining area and outside terrace are spectacular. However they are nearly overshadowed by the culinary offerings. I selected their local garden salad and paired it with the seared ahi (both appetizers) -each prepared to perfection. The wife opted for the "catch of the day" fish sandwich. A lightly battered flakey fish resting atop a bed of fresh slaw with a hint of wasabi. Oh by the way, while dining I witnessed several wood fired pizzas emerge from the outdoor oven. Our waitress told us that they are worth the return trip. I'll see you there!

Very underwhelming.

Lovely setting with gardens and views, classy stained glass windows, beautiful carpentry. Old homey feel.

However;

Food and service remind me of a mediocre food truck, only more expensive.
Doesnt help they serve everything on paper plates with plastic cutlery.maybe the dishwasher was broken that day, but I see it other reviews pics too so that's odd.
I can't imagine paying 40 bucks for a steak and then eating it with a plastic knife and fork.

Essentially your getting basic food with a view in the shell of a classy lodge/restaurant.

There is so much potential for incredible fine dining here, but it falls very short.

Service was poor with long wait to be seated and long wait for food. We had gotten reservations a couple weeks earlier but those reservations were not honored when we showed up. They appeared to be under-staffed. The place itself is quite nice.

This place is legit like a piece of heaven. The waitstaff are really friendly and the view is phenomenal, especially if you eat outside. The pizza was a bit charred but it was just the cheese on top. The crust was perfectly cooked and wonderfully flavored and the kalua pork was really good. This is definitely a place to check out.

We are here on a tour to the crater. It was absolutely lovely. There are little outdoor pod type of tables that you can look at a lovely garden and valley. The food was really good too. We went for breakfast but they were firing up the pizza oven and it smelled great. I didn't have a chance to but would have loved to have tasted one of their pizzas.

Beautiful vistas, gardens and great pancakes. They also have the largest Jacaranda tree I have ever seen. It was gorgeous.

Beautiful restaurant nestled in Kula at the base of Haleakala. Garden seating is gorgeous just limited with indoor dining options. A bit pricey and surprised no rolls or bread offered after ordering. Fish and Chips were excellent! Butternut Squash soup had a dash of coconut milk that was thick and creamy. Pizza was over cooked and over priced.

If you are in Maui I definitely recommend visiting this place. It has the most gorgeous views and scenery. The temperature is a little cooler than where all the resorts are because it's in a higher altitude so grab a light jacket.

Although the view was breath taking and the service was great, the food didn't really do the place justice. The fish was over cooked. However, John, the receptionist was very friendly and polite. Also, they do have a quaint shop across the restaurant.

Very disappointing. Very understaffed. From the time we were seated till the food came was 55 minutes. Our server did not check in on us until the food came. The pulled pork was very dry. The fish and chips was ok. The view is nice.

Outstanding service. Friendly and very personable. Beautiful grounds, breathtaking views. Food was delicious. Prices comparable with other places. Would definitely return.

I can’t speak to the lodging (never stayed) but love the restaurant and gift shop. Beautiful upcountry views and yummy oven baked pizzas. The gift shop has a great collection of hand sewn Hawaiian quilts and great local food products (delicious and unique coconut flavored peanut butter is one)

Arrived before and after numerous parties, all waiting for the restaurant to open. Slowly began to be seated, but after seeing other groups that arrived after us being seated first, we went up to ask where we were on the list. Hostess was unwelcoming and unfriendly. She seemed like we weren’t welcome and made it kind of awkward. Finally seated, we waited for a short while for our first (and only) drink. We ordered our food along with the drinks and after over an hour of waiting and no one even coming to check on us, we left the money for the drinks on the table and left unsatisfied. As for the quality of food, we will never know because it never came. On a positive note, the view was nice.
