Lava Tree State Monument reviews
13Very interesting to see lava trees. Short, very easy, paved walking path (loop). Don't miss the fissure behind the rest room building!
It's OK. I felt like it was a little underwhelming. If you have a limited time there are better things on the island to do.
Most of my pictures are on my GoPro but here's one of the trees. Well what's left of it anyway. That's how deep the lava was! Easy paved trail only about a half mile loop to walk.
A short walk with the chance to learn more about the lava flows and nature on Hawaii. It has restrooms and some picnic tables. It close to the latest lava flows on the island.
This is a really beautiful trail that is easy to walk, with lots of shady spots and shelters to rest. Really interesting to see the tree forms made of lava. Lots of beautiful plants to look at and we even saw a hawk having lunch on one of the lava trees. Definitely a beautiful place to stop.
A very easy loop around this tiny park. It's pretty small to come a long way just for this, but if you are nearby, it's worth a look.
Small, good place for kids. Has a pavilion and bathroom that is maintained & has toilet paper most times. The trail is paved so you wont mess up your shoes. We walked it with the kids for about 40 at a relaxed pace while the kids chased a chicken and her chicks around. It's beautiful jungle in its raw beauty.
Interesting quick stop. The lava trees were pretty neat. The trail is totally paved and an easy quick walk around to see the lava trees. There is a restroom there too which was clean. I would recommend a quick stop here if you have extra time.
Amazing place! You will see preserved lava molds of the tree trunks that were formed when a lava flow swept through a forested area in 1790.
She got the cool features created by a previous eruption, see Pele's strength. There are restrooms on site as well
Nice little trail with some cool sites to see. Those with disabilities may have trouble as a few areas of trail are uneven
One of my favorite shorter trails. Still natural enough to feel off the beaten path. Be ready for rainy weather here.
Interesting on how the lava stuck to trees and burnt the wood out. Nice walk thru lots of flora and little birds!
