Lucky Owl Car Rental, Honolulu HI

TLDR: Great value in relation to price. But go somewhere else if you have specific preferences.

We booked a few weeks ago and inquired about hatchbacks, being assured it wouldn't be an issue. Kudos to the staff, service, and provided amenities, which were excellent. However, a hiccup occurred upon arrival:

Despite our preference for a hatchback communicated twice, the last Honda Fit was given to the person behind us, causing frustration. We ended up with an old Toyota Corolla, which, while understandable for the price, had some drawbacks. The remote key didn't work, and the driving experience wasn't smooth and I think the most basic car rentals should come with a back up camera. Additionally, a van blocked our exit for 10-15 minutes during departure not allowing us to leave (which Lucky Owl has no control over).

In summary, it's a great option for those focused on price, but if specific preferences matter, exploring other options might be wise.

-1 star for car remote not working,
-1 for not helping people on a first come, first serve basis (that's customer service 101) and not noting a customer preferences when calling ahead of time.

Overall, lesson learned for me and I take responsibility for having high expectations.

Lucky Owl was great. Our flight was delayed, and they left our car in the airport parking lot with detailed instructions for finding it. They were excellent communicators, and their shuttle service back to the airport was easy to use. We are planning another Oahu trip next year, and we will definitely rent from them again.

The best people and great service, from walking in to driving was less than 5mins and the AC was already running - it was the best feeling after getting off a flight.

Definitely recommend these guys for vacation or locally if you need a car rental for any reason. Pricing is great. Super easy to set up a rental, pick up / drop off. They’ve also got a convenient shuttle for the airport!

Excellent rental company! Kind staff, easy to follow instructions for shuttle pick up, car was great, too! Cheaper rates because cars are not brand new, but ours was in great condition on the inside. There were a few scratches and paint dings, but they took thorough photos before we drove off, so we were not held liable for the current condition. We will definitely be a repeat customer!

Locally owned company with great, friendly customer service and prices that beat the big-name companies at the airport. I'll happily give Lucky Owl my business over all of those outside companies that prioritize tourist dollars and interests over locals.

I try to buy local when I can and renting a car from Lucky Owl is an absolute pleasure.no hassles, no long lines, just a decent car to take you where you want to go. I've recommended them to my friends who have to go to Oahu from the neighbor islands.
