Lydgate Beach Park, Lihue HI

Long shady walk along beautiful sand beach on multi use paved trail. No swimmers in very high surf. Lots of restrooms and tables. Swimmers enjoyed the sheltered swim area. Playground. Frisbee golf. Not at all crowded. Lots of parking.

Love this spot. The Kamalani Playground was a blast for the little guy. Lots of climbing and fun spots. Honestly good for little ones to older kids. Structures are unique and ofer challenges for older kids outside the standard monkey bars.
Safe family park too. Restrooms and very good beach.
Also drive down to the other end to play at the Kamalani Kai Bridge structure. A bit of a find but worth it.

Great for families. I'm a terrible swimmer but the water is not too deep and the waves are kept very calm by the rock breakers. Highly recommend for any other weak swimmers who just want to relax.

This is a great beach for families who have small children. There are 2 enclosed areas (pods) that are perfect for young children, as the waves are tiny. This is the best beach that we found for little ones. Older kids might be bored with the lack of action.

A great place to stop after spending time in Lihue. Easily accessible, lots of beach access, & facilities on site, there's a swimming spot great for snorkeling.

One of the best beaches in Kauai especially if you are with small kids. There is plenty of parking, bench for picnic and restrooms.

The beach has portion divided with rocks to make it safe zone for kids to swim or snorkel!

There is a lifeguard on duty too and plenty of palm trees to take rest and relax! Don’t miss this spot especially if you have kids

We love lydgate, fun place for families to gather, swim, snorkel, fish, whatever! Great time and great place!

We came to Lydgate to see sunrise and discovered a really interesting park that we’re going to try to come back to before we have to leave.

In addition to being a great location to watch sunrise there’s a bathroom, some walking paths and, most importantly some fish ponds you can swim or snorkel in while protected from the ocean swells. I don’t know how good the snorkeling is, but I want to find out. Outside of the fish ponds looks a little dicey.

Lots of parking and lots of chickens to entertain you.

Lydgate Beach Park is a really nice park for families with kids. There are 2 protected swimming areas. It's a great place to learn to snorkel, the rock walls keep the waters calm and there's plenty of fish to see. There is a huge play structure for the kids, restrooms and ample parking.

Beach itself was lovely! I don't really recommend the snorkeling here; we saw a few fish but the visibility was terrible and we could barely see 5 feet in the water. Go to Poipu instead, if you can

Nice park many chickens everywhere. The bathroom doesn't get locked at night which is nice, but it's also kind of dirty and there's offensive graffiti on the walls

Very nice place but unfortunately I was stung from a Portuguese man of war jelly fish. Just be careful

Terrific! Safe swimming/snorkeling, rugged landscape on one side, beautiful landscape on the other. Check it out.
